U mean "The Girl Next Door"?

yourstruly 03-16-2006 02:10 AM
U mean "The Girl Next Door"?
and it's not a Blink 182 song..

plaidbassbilly 03-16-2006 02:53 AM

Yeah, it's on Buddha.

I haven't really been listening to Blink much lately. I have discovered so much more music in the past couple of months. One day soon I'm going to go on a Blink spree though, I can just tell.

yourstruly 03-16-2006 03:03 AM
Yeah, it's on Buddha.
It's a cover though, so it doesn't really count.

chumpradio 03-16-2006 03:37 AM

There is actually a song called The Family Next Door. It was on the original Buddha tape, not the re-released CD version.

10571z 03-16-2006 04:22 AM

yeh its funny.... it about a family whos all incest and ****ed up... i got it from somewhere i cant remember where.

Oh how your mom is so inbred
last night I caught your mother
with your brother in her bed
five arms ten legs and four toes
the bitch has got four toes

When you f**k your family I guess
that's just the way it goes
when you f**k your family I guess that's,
that's just the way it goes
when you f**k your family I guess that's,
that's just the way it goes

But don't worry
your mom is not the only one
she's not the only one
because just the other night
I caught your dad taking your
brother's temperature with his thumb

When you go to your house
don't kneel or squat
don't kneel or squat
before you know it your dad will tie
my dick in a knot....... with his tongue

When you f**k your family I guess that's,
that's just the way it goes
when you f**k your family I guess that's,
that's just the way it goes

Haha, I want that song.

About as funny as Transvestite.

punkrocker-182 03-16-2006 12:18 PM

I want it 2, sounds good LOL

Ross 03-16-2006 01:19 PM

I'm doing my best to cover "dammit" alone. To me, a cover must improve or at least have a different take on the original. Anyone can just play the same song, a cover should make it your own. Here's my list so far:

-> Better kick-ins; eg on the line :

"The timing, and structure, did you hear... <pause> He fücked her? <kick-in>"

-> Ska Section; After first chorus and intro riff, jump into ska! The transition isn't perfect yet, but its very close and actually sounds pretty cool. Its a bit slower (this sounds better), and I'm adding an extra 16 bars to this 3rd verse (effectively doubling the length of the verse). The lyrics are only sung in the second half of this 3rd verse, and due to the slower pace, backing vocals ("hep! hep!"?) could be easily added and a much more ska voice pattern (think Aaron from RBF) makes this sound good. At the end of the verse, the final F chord jumps back into the overdrive to provide a good kick-in to my next addition...

-> A solo! Why the hell not? The backing track is just the traditional 16 bar verse pattern (C-G-A-F). I'm thinking the into riff jacked up an octave for the first 4 bars, then a variation across it for the remainder- NO shred (although it would be pretty funny, shred + blink + ska is quite a combination). After this, the 2nd chorus returns and the song finishes as normal.

Anyway, tell me what you think. It'll be kinda hard without actually being able to listen to it, but I hope I've given the best description possible.

That actually sounds really cool, haha. If you ever record it, send it to me. I would be curious to hear it.

Bad Blood 03-16-2006 02:32 PM

Yeah, it sounds cool.

Post it on here if you do record it.

HitHardDrums55 03-16-2006 03:46 PM

that would be amazing. hurry up and finish it.

for the ska section are you actually going to have horns? or just ska guitar/bass/drum stuff? either way would be sick.

Bad Blood 03-16-2006 04:10 PM

I reckon the regulars of this thread should do like a Forum Band, but just this thread, for a Blink song?

I'd be in for playing guitar on one of these.

B 03-16-2006 09:02 PM

I'd sing maybe. If I could find my mic.

HitHardDrums55 03-16-2006 09:23 PM

i'd try to mix it...i'm getting into recording and my friend's helping me start a small record label

DJ Ducksauce 03-16-2006 10:23 PM

When does Plus 44 come out?

form 03-16-2006 10:25 PM

No idea, I haven't really been paying attention to them. Not really impressed :-/

DJ Ducksauce 03-16-2006 10:27 PM

Oh. No It Isn't wasn't that bad of a song. I liked it. Wasn't the best either.

The Adventure is pretty cool. Can't say much about Good Day.

form 03-16-2006 10:35 PM

Good day??

Never heard it, I listen to The Adventure almost constantly.

I'll have to give 44 another whirl, its been a long time since I listened, so...
