Trinity is bad, Like Gods of the Sun is bad, As the Flowers wither is bad, Turn Loose the Swans is good.

pate 03-08-2008 10:04 AM

Like Gods of the Sun is great.

Nostalgia 03-08-2008 10:08 AM

Yeah, you would say that.

Iron Bars 03-08-2008 10:22 AM

I like A Line Of Deathless Kingss too btw. I saw My Dying Bride a coulpe of years ago on Grasspop and walked away after hearing about half a song (5 minutes) because I thought it was boring. Since then I have embraced Doom metal and am still ashamed thinking back on that.

pate 03-08-2008 10:23 AM

I love A Line of Deathless Kings as well.

Shattered_Future 03-08-2008 11:12 AM

It's not bad (better than Songs Of Darkness, at least), but it's not great either.

I absolutely love The Dreadful Hours.

Eliminator 03-08-2008 11:15 AM

The Dreadful Hours' title accurately sums up a My Dying Bride listening experience

Shattered_Future 03-08-2008 11:16 AM

Is it because they don't have cracker harpist vocals?

publicastration 03-08-2008 12:06 PM

I like most of My Dying Bride's work tbh.

pate 03-08-2008 01:27 PM

I could do without The Dreadful Hours more than I could do without ALODK or LGOTS

Txus 03-08-2008 02:34 PM

I could do without My Dying Bride.
fans of the swansea scene (bomb the sun, prosperina, suns of thunder etc)

check out this myspace

:) its for a compilation album thats gonna be released within the next year with all the bands on it
I finally heard your band. I didn't expect to like it (in case you didn't know my tastes run to old school doom, old school death, old school black, old school grind, old school thrash etc The key phrase being OLD SCHOOL) but I did.

I won't lie - you're not quite there yet but there's some great bits in there - The chorus for Temples for example. I'll have to check you out next time you gig.

BTW did you see my post about honey for christ playing in swansea next Friday? trust me I've seen hundreds of bands and HFC are one of the best live.

Txus 03-08-2008 03:29 PM

sup OLD SCHOOL.
I have mild tinnitus, it sucks. It doesn't annoy me all the time, but when I go to bed at night I can hear it pretty clearly. I don't lose heaps of sleep or anything but I definitely prefer to have a fan going or some quiet music to take my focus off the ringing.
argh that sounds like hell.

NemesisDivina 03-09-2008 02:04 PM

Is Snailking the best Ufomammut album to check out?

Angmar 03-09-2008 02:08 PM

@ My Dying Bride talk

I got Turn Loose the Swans and loved it, most everything was awesome, ace harsh vocals.

I'll probably get their 2nd album eventually, but not for awhile.

Txus 03-09-2008 02:10 PM

Matt: Every album is ****ing great. Snailking is the most popular, I'd say go with that one as your first, then get Lucifer Songs.

Eliminator 03-09-2008 02:12 PM

my dying bride's harsh vocals are terrible

Not on Turn Loose the Swans they aren't.

Alright sounds good. I really really liked that song you requested for Chris to play on his show.

the2stranger 03-09-2008 02:23 PM

Snailking ftw!

MDB's early stuff is nice. It's nice to listen to it every once in a while.
The Cry Of Mankind is such a great song.

For me it's a mixed bag, I like some stuff from every era, so yeah.
Some early stuff, some middle stuff, some new stuff.

Dimmu Burger 03-09-2008 04:01 PM

Does anybody have a link to the new Draconian album without the stupid voice over guy on it? I'm rockin it in the car and I hear some European sounding guy all of a sudden say "You're listening to the new Draconian album 'Turning Season Within'". I'm like Goddammit!

jrowa001 03-09-2008 04:18 PM

ok so i have been addicted to The Hidden Hand today. awesome band. so far i have only noticed that Txus and Pate (i think) are into this band

Nostalgia 03-09-2008 04:58 PM

My Dying Bride would be a lot better if they'd eliminate their harsh vocals and growls, which is what they use most, rendering almost every album really terrible. Songs like The Snow in My hand are excellent though.

pate 03-09-2008 04:59 PM

Bullshit Austin. LGotS and ALODK are 99.9% cleans.

Yes, they were great. @jrowa

Nostalgia 03-09-2008 05:03 PM

I only gave Like Gods of the Sun a short listen because I was bored senseless, but I think Trinity is all harsh and same with As the Flowers wither. If LGotS is 99.9% clean then they must just be terrible vocals because I'm a sucker for anything clean.

pate 03-09-2008 05:05 PM

The vocals on those two albums are great.

Nostalgia 03-09-2008 05:22 PM

Jondur, did you play on Transfiguration?
