Surprised no ones mentioned it yet, but, never forget those brave souls who departed from the towers one year today. |
Not cool man, if I see that image again your getting banned.
Show some respect. |
Sorry
EDIT: Oh yeah forgot to mention, your recordings were pretty cool Jim |
Glad I didn't see the image, but judging from the smiley it wasn't a serious one so glad it's gone.
I worked overnight last night, and at around 3AM I was making tea and printed off the little expiration sticker for it and noticed it said 9/11/05, I had completely lost track of time and days, so it really surprised me. Subtle, but I went around the store and anything that said the date on it for that day I underlined 9/11. ANYWAYS. Yeah man, check out Tub Ring, they're pretty awesomen and their vibe kinda reminds me of you guys. I didn't mean you SOUND like Primus, not really at all, but that's just the most obvious comparison. SO yesterday I bought the following: Donnybrook - Lions in this Game (LA Hardcore) Madball - Legacy (Kings of NY Hardcore) Between The Buried and Me - Alaska(Effed up but extremely awesome crazy metal) Super Troopers DVD Office Space DVD Donnybrook is AWESOME, great stuff. http://www.myspace.com/donnybrook Madball being one of the 3 "reigning kings" of NY Hardcore (along with Sick of it All and Agnostic Front), are of course amazing, this CD rocks. http://www.myspace.com/madball (heaven-hell is the first single and song, GREAT lyrics) BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME. Wow. I'm quickly tempted to say this might easily be one of the best metal releases of the year (and I'm including every single sub-genre of metal, basically anything heavy non-MTV), nay one of the best of the year period. The promo sticker said something along the lines of "If you thought SYSTEM OF A DOWN were strange and amazing, THE MARS VOLTA technical and awe inspiring, TOOL atmospheric yet still heavy, check out a band you probably never heard of, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME." Not those exact phrases but you get the idea from the bands the mentioned. This band is CRAZY, but in a cool way. Most of it is screaming and blasting metal, but then it switches quickly to a Power Metal riff, and then into a blastbeat layered with angelic chorus, etc. http://www.purevolume.com/betweentheburiedandme THIS CD IS AMAZING. And I've only gotten to track 2. Listen to "Selkies: The Endless Obsession" Long song, but listen to the entire thing, it's such a masterpiece. |
Alright, I asked a girl to homecoming today in a fairly clever way:
Before she got to school in the morning, I put a note in her locker that said (in collage, all of the notes were) "will you". The next note she found was 3rd period (our school has 9 periods a day). She has choir 3rd period, so I put a note that said "go to" in her choir folder, but our chior teacher was gone that day, so all thekids check in with our school secretary. Luckily, I had planned ahead and given another note to the secretrary to give to the girl (monika) when she checked, simply saying "monika, you ahve a message". So that was the 2nd message she got. And then, 5th period, we both have English. So I taked to our English teacher a couple of days before, and he really wanted to help (he's an english teacher, a romantic/dreamy sort, possibly the favorite teacher in the school). He hands out a poem in class, but instead of giving her a poem, he slips from the bottom a piece of paper that said "homecoming with" on it. And finally, at the end of the day, I walked down the hall with a t-shirt on that said, in big letters, "ME?" It was pretty sweet, especially because the ENTIRE school knew except for her. All day everyone was coming up to me and asking how it was going (our school is small, 270 kids), but noone let on at all to her. (she said yes, by the way)
Pretty funny and awsome, can't imagine that happening in my school, theres about 5000 kids there and its supposed to have 3000. It would be funny though because if your wearing a "Me" shirt you'll probably have complements from random kids in the hallway. |

last night i went to a local show. i missed the first band, but i heard they sucked, so no big loss. the first band i saw a emo, so they werent too good eather.
the next band was really good, it was their drummers last show. http://www1.bandspace.com/bands/14086/music.php for those of you who want to hear them. then was another decent band that ive seen a few time before. their guitarest blew a tube in his amp after the first song. then after the next song, they did something else wrong. they had something like 15min. of them figuring out what they were doing after the first song and 3min. of playing. then, last, was the whole reason i was there, the suburban sound. unfortunatly, they blew out the PA after 2 and 1/2 songs and didnt have working mics. so they played for a good 10min. of their songs, then a 10min. improv thing whail they tried to get the mics. working. and that ended the show. |
That is kinda wierd, some guy walkin down the hallway with a shirt that says "me" on it. I think id take off in the opposite direction hahaha.
Incase you guys missed it  http://elementweb.com/upload/uploads/Jim%20short%20solo.mp3 http://elementweb.com/upload/uploads/Groove%2055.mp3 http://elementweb.com/upload/uploads/Jim%20ending.mp3 ^^ Old school style ending Been awhile since I uploaded anything, so I can plug em twice!
Haha, she didnt find it creepy at all. She absolutely loved it. She kind of expected/wanted me to ask her, and since homecoming is approaching, the words "will you go to homecoming with" aren't really that out of place. Since our school is so small, everyone knew that I was doing it. She caught on that someone was asking her in the morning, so she wasn't wondering what the hell was going on. |
That's a cool way to ask someone out... It's very clever.
|
I gave my kit an overdue dusting today, and I have to say -
It's the best feeling when you're cleaning lots of dust from the shells, and the result is Clean, nice-looking drums. |
i should clean my drums, what did you use to dust them voodoo?
|
Haha yeah if somebody asked me out like that I'd start getting annoyed at all the damn notes. No way would I go for that. But whatever floats your boat.
|
^ It worked so I guess go with what ever works right.

I had a girl ask me out in class the other day.. always odd coming from a girl *shrug*
I just thought I'd stimulate some fun with what I'm doing at the moment. Friend got a new 60 gig Ipod. 'Hey can you fill this up for me? Here's a list." "Sure. Be done by Wed." 1/2 full already in a day. Gotta love broadband. |
Haha yeah if somebody asked me out like that I'd start getting annoyed at all the damn notes. No way would I go for that. But whatever floats your boat.
Haha, she's a romantic, so she loved it. Plus she deserved the time and effort. Not only did she love it, the entire school did. Our English teacher was SO excited to be able to help. One of my friends actually made the T-shirt, and everyone else made srue she was in the dark. |
i should clean my drums, what did you use to dust them voodoo?
Soft dusting cloth. It's yellow. (Which actually makes NO difference to amount of dust reduction) |
i'm really bored, and i'm just waiting for one of my lady friends to get home from work and call me.
i just remembered i have homework for tomorrow that i got my friend to carry home, but i havent seen him since friday, and he's working until 6:30. oh well, looks like i'll be finishing it in my first class tomorrow. it's not even due for homework, there's just a chance we'll have a quiz on that stuff in class tomorrow, so it's recommended we do it. i think i may go dust my drums off, since mine are to the point where i can write in the dust. |
Sooo...Today was my first day at music school, where I got my scholarship. It was absolutely awesome. So much fun!
I'm a P3c, which is the highest class. I'm also in one of the two Jazz Ensembles, and im a percussionist in the Katabatic Winds Youth Orchestra. Wicked. |
^ Sweet sounds awsome bb.
|
I was flicking through the T.V channels a minute ago, and I saw an interview with Micheal Gambon (?).
He's grown lots of facial hair. And I mean lots, compared to his previous appearence. |

Yeah I think the joke was a reference to Gandalf the Grey.
|
Sorry, I'm no good with internet jokes...
|
i'm learning "dust in the wind" on guitar right now. i've been telling myself i'd learn it sooner or later, and since i have nothing to do, i thought now would be a good time.

well to anyone interested... i told you all about how i was quitting my job at the golf course, and that i guaranteed i'd get asked back... (i guessed i'd get asked back near the start of next season) well it came true. my dad was offering me big raises ($12-14 an hour) to come back for another year, and i told him no. i gave him all my reasons for not going back, and then he told me to think about it, but i have, and i'm done there. i got treated like s'hit there, and i'm fed up with it. the environment there is terrible.
just thought i'd tell you that. anyone here golf? i was thinking about doing some "golf lesson" threads in the sports section every once in a while if there's a large golf crowd. |
were getting payed 200 bucks to play jazz/blues at the roasted coffee bean. We play there every month starting whenever we feel hat were ready.
|
^ That awsome poppin. 200 bucks is pretty good.

^ $12-14 is really good though.

So, should I sell my rare-esque Paiste Dimensions 18" Medium Ride? It's got the sound of a 20" or 21" ride, is compact, is out of production, and is in perfect-new condition. Sell or keep? I'm not using it.
