I'm liking Sun Kil Moon better so far, but the RHP album seems more difficult and probably needs more time. Sun Kil Moon hit me right away, and this feels like a grower.
It's a gorgeous, melancholy record. One I'd consider to evoke the strongest emotional pull from me. My favorite Painters record. Definitely let it grow, it's amazing. |
mmmmmmmmmm Entertainment. Good work bro. My burner is working now. must borrow cds.
I'm diggin Bruce Sprinsteen.
Indeed, my friend, indeed.
I heard an Antony & the Johnsons song last night. It's called I hope theres someone ( or something similar). I don't know what to make of it yet. It was rather interesting adn sad to boot, but his voice kinda creeps me out.
That was pretty much my exact reaction to that song the first time I heard it too. I like the few songs I've heard now. |
Do you write prose asymm?
|
The new Coheed is pretty good.
|
Is it just like the older stuff though?
|
^ They've lost alot of the pop-punk stuff. It's more like...'80s metal done right I guess.
Reminds me of a less gay Rush. |
Cool.
Jamming to The Crowing is a guilty pleasure of mine. |
A friend of mine that likes primus wants me to get her into some of The Residents music, so I burned her duckstab, seeing as all the residents songs that primus covered are on that album. I listened to most of the album before burning it, and realized how much I loved it. I had forgotten all about it.
Then I got a song from the commercial album stuck in my head, so I had to go listen to it. I'm playing it on vinyl right now, and I still love it like I did a few years ago. Truely a great album. I'll probably listen to intermission, mark of the mole, tunes of two cities, and third reich n roll within the next few days. Good stuff. |
Do you write prose asymm?
Nope, I don't. I've written a couple of album reviews, but that's about the extent of my literary side. |
I'm really digging this Michael Franti and Spearhead bootleg I just downloaded. It is quite tasty.
|
What about samiam? there niftey

The Cramps - Bad Music for Bad People
Dirty Three - Ocean Songs Cursive - Domestica Cursive - Burst & Bloom Man, how good are Cursive? Very good is the answer. Soon, i intend to pick up Against Me's new album. |
I gave my guitar teacher copies of Giant Steps and Hot Rats. It amazed me that he doesn't have Giant Steps, being the jazz cat that he is.
|
The Stooges
Naked Raygun Nick Cave The Stooges are just too good to put into words. So i'm not gonna try. |
Soon, i intend to pick up Against Me's new album.
I seriously doubt it would be worth it though. Or I might be wrong. |
Hot Cross - A New Set of Lungs
Fugazi - 13 Songs Gorilla Biscuits - Start Today |
I seriously doubt it would be worth it though. Or I might be wrong.
I dunno, i'm a big Against Me fan, but most of what i've heard about this new album seems to be negative. I've heard absolutely nothing from it yet, though. Maybe i'll download it first to see if it's worth buying. |

Recently (as in the last week or so);
Beck - Mutations Baby Huey - Living Legend Frou Frou - Details King Geedorah - Take Me To Your Leader Blackalicious - A2G EP For the last month the list would be a bit longer, though. |

I was on the Stooges earlier today, mainly Raw Power. Now I'm listening to a whole bunch of rat pack related stuff.
|
Stooges too, but Funhouse.
|
Hah, awesome. It's like telepathy.
In any case, I moved onto Organized Konfusion's self-titled. This album doesn't get enough love outside rapreviews.com. |
I'm diggin' Lyrics Born - Later That Day...this dude's got style.
Also: Killing Joke - Killing Joke (2003) - One of the best heavy guitar based records I've heard in along time. These old-timers rock harder than most new-timers in modern heavy guitar bands. Jaz Coleman is a pretty interesting guy...next to dropping brute forced vocals for Killing Joke, he composes classical music as wel. Minutemen - Double Nickels On The Dime. Should've gotten this alot earlier. What an enjoyable band. Just love this record. Cake - Fashion Nugget - This band is so fun. Great musicianship, and still have a catchy distinct sound. John McCrea is one of the coolest frontmen around. Desert Sessions 9 & 10 Check PJ Harveys voice in the intro of "There Will Never Be A Better Time". Haunting, spine shivering stuff. Wow! |

Decemberists - Picaresque
Well, it's taken a while, but now i can see the fuss you guys made over this album. I had this urge to listen to it earlier, so i put it on. I've listened to it 2 times through since then, and my opinion has totally changed. It's now my favorite Decemberists album, and there's no weak songs at all. Up there with Illinois, Funeral and Black Mountain as my favourite album this year. |
Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway
One day I will be able to stop listening to this album
That's the final straw. Time for me to check this out. |
Consonant is the band of day for me.
|
I've also been digging Spoon heavily...I can't decide which album of theirs to get though.
|

But the Magic Numbers are poopy. They're like an indie Mamas & the Papas. |
Cheers Tangy. Yeah, I can see that comparison, but I quite enjoy them.
I've also been digging Spoon heavily...I can't decide which album of theirs to get though.
The songs I downloaded (Sister Jack and I Turn My Camera On are on "Gimme Fiction"...is that album also as worth checking?
|
Yep. Most Spoon stuff is pretty solid.
