You got a point there Butcher.

It's almost a Cannibal Corpse esque pattern.

I think you should all go out and download Land Of Immortals by Rhapsody.

Bazarov 12-27-2005 07:39 PM
I thought that was ACDC.
That's so true.

Though I still kind of like the CD Dirty Deeds.

Nostalgia 12-27-2005 07:39 PM
yeah, that's kind of my attitude, they have some great stuff and some so-so stuff.
Slayers new stuff isn't to good IMO but when you start hearing there more brutal and heavier stuff then it really gets good. Though the recording for Hell awaits blew it was still a good agressive album.

Angel of death is one of the greatest thrash songs ever IMO. Tom's voice was great in that song.

Shattered_Future 12-27-2005 07:41 PM

I personally like Payback. Greatest lyrics ever.

AC/DC hasn't put out anything original since High Voltage, cept for Thunderstruck. And that's only original for the first minute.

Bus 12-27-2005 07:43 PM

So this is where the comm. thread was hiding?

I don't like AC/DC.

What's up with everyone?

blue3 12-27-2005 07:44 PM

I don't like AC/DC either.

Not alot. I got a harmonica and I'm trying to learn but I can't play it at all.

GenuineImitation 12-27-2005 07:44 PM
Hey does anyone here play the rock star game? 'Tis rather fun.
I played it in best buy today. It was better than I thought it would be.

What are these Rock Star or Guitar Hero games I hear of.

I know nothing about any games that have to do with PS2 or X-box

Nostalgia 12-27-2005 07:49 PM

Great, I just got Subway.

Mr. M, Man of Muzak 12-27-2005 07:49 PM

Guitar Hero is a great great game. Frankenstein by Edgar Winter Group is insane on expert mode :-/

Symphony of Destruction is a fun song

/covers face with hands...some people never learn.

I really have a problem with the crappiness of AC/DC's lyrics...

Pfffft. I'm IMing you.

I have a question: on metal records where there is a shreddy-type tone, like on Symphony X, for instance, and the band is working with an orchestra and ambient textures are used, why is reverb or delay avoided like the plague with regard to the aforementioned wheedly shrill high-gain guitar tone? Reverb of some kind would not only take a huge degree of the edge off the tone, it would also make the sound much more dramatic and rich instead of like some stereotypically "metal" Yngwie-type thing that just sounds funny rather than cool.

Otherwise, how are things, threadgoers?

Not bad at all.

Anyway, I think bands like DT or Symphony X avoid high gain tones because they dont want the notes to be drowned out by affects. Im not 100% sure, but thats what I would guess the reason would be.

Yeah, I guess bands like that don't have the production resources to make the "drowned in effects" thing offset by good production.

I just like it. :(

Jev 12-27-2005 08:00 PM

Maybe it's avoided because it's sounds rather messy. Well at least I think it does or I have no idea what you mean.

Summed up what I had in a paragraph.

It can sound messy, a little, I guess, but I think reverb adds a lot of space where instrumentals are concerned. I can understanding avoiding it when vocals are on, because you don't want everything to just be awash in it, but for solos and stuff like that, who would care?

On the other hand, I might just have a twisted perception of these things. I love ambience and echo, but to others it just literally sounds muddy and unclear.

EDIT: I really like the new sputnikmusic skin. The text is tighter.

I agree. The forums looks really nice now.

Apocalyptic Raids 12-27-2005 08:08 PM

I've always used the Teal skin.

Anything else looks wrong to me.

Bazarov 12-27-2005 08:10 PM

I really like using Gray skin. This new sputnik one is alright, I suppose.

I always use Grey, but I may use the Sputnik skin from now on.

I did have a look at the Sputnik skin. The text does look nice indeed.

Not nice enough for me to change, however :D
