No, not a gimmick account. And you're right, I do have a lot to learn.

I went to a school full of posers and was told that bands like Pantera were stoner rock. I'm being serious.

If you have any good stoner rock to suggest as a starter though, to show me the difference, I would appreciate it.

Om

/whore

Kage 12-14-2007 05:35 PM

Kyuss and
Boris - Akuma No Uta

Om isn't a good introduction to stoner rock, especially since they're hardly straight-up stoner rock.

NemesisDivina 12-14-2007 05:36 PM

But they are straight-up awesome

Retropusso 12-14-2007 05:39 PM

I'll just check out all 3 bands. Thanks.

Kage 12-14-2007 05:41 PM

Good deal.

Eliminator 12-14-2007 05:47 PM

kyuss lol

Kage 12-14-2007 05:48 PM

What's wrong with them, then?

Eliminator 12-14-2007 05:50 PM

they're kyuss

Retropusso 12-14-2007 06:01 PM

I couldn't find any Om. I mean, I found them on Wikipedia, but I couldn't get any songs to come up on Ares and download. I don't know if they're really underground. That could be the problem though.

As for Kyuss and Boris, both really good. Definite differences between them and Pantera. I think I liked Boris better though. I tend to like Japanese music, but most J-pop over J-rock.

NemesisDivina 12-14-2007 06:02 PM

Stop mentioning Pantera, they're not stoner rock. They just suck.

Nostalgia 12-14-2007 06:03 PM

Dude quit writing in bold.

Kage 12-14-2007 06:03 PM

Shut up. He was noting how he realized how they were different than Pantera, and therefore coming to the realization of what stoner rock is.

...sheesh. long day?

@kage

Kage 12-14-2007 06:06 PM

No it's been a pretty good day. I just don't think people should be mean to noobs who are genuinely open to finding new stuff and learning, as this guy obviously is.

LifeInABox 12-14-2007 06:50 PM

The Red Album ftw over everything ever.

Niflheim II 12-14-2007 07:08 PM

Anyone like Warning(UK)? Listening to their newest album now and it sounds very solid.

pate 12-14-2007 07:11 PM

They're excellent.

Niflheim II 12-14-2007 07:12 PM

do you know anything similar? most doom ive heard sucks and these guys manage to make some interesting stuff.

pate 12-14-2007 07:17 PM

Apparently I'm not good at staying to similar stuff, so I'll just list my favorite doom bands. You've probably heard them though.

Solitude Aeturnus
Candlemass
Trouble
Cathedral
Saint Vitus
Reverend Bizarre
The Gates of Slumber
Witchfinder General

Niflheim II 12-14-2007 07:19 PM

LifeInABox 12-14-2007 09:03 PM

lol

GICE PLZ I NEED MOR ELITE DOOM PLZ! QUICK SOMEONE MITE SEE ME ASKIN!

pate 12-14-2007 09:35 PM

Epic doom is a bullshit term imo, except when used somewhat mockingly, like when Candlemass called themselves that 20+ years ago.

LifeInABox 12-14-2007 09:37 PM

I meant to put quotes around that term but I forgot. You knew what I meant, though.

Txus 12-14-2007 09:53 PM

Still, it's a stupid term and you're stupid by not liking all of those great bands.

Nifelheim: You might like Orodruin, you might not. Give them a try but I have the feeling you've heard them already :(

Eliminator 12-14-2007 10:22 PM

clean vocals are so lame
