If those weren't so dry and had a slightly brighter ping i would definitely be tempted to buy one.

maniac0796 07-09-2007 12:42 PM

Alright

I'm looking for a ride.

Something with a big fat heavy bell that'll kill children in 3rd world countrys when i hit it, yet, a main body, that produces a clear, defined and well projected hit, but will cover it up with wash.

So, probably something with an Unlathed bell, and a partially unlathed body or something.

HH Raw Bell Dry Ride?

maniac0796 07-09-2007 01:06 PM

too clangy..., but i'll keep it in mind

However, i do like the AAX stage ride.
partially unlathed body
I immediately thought of the K Hybrids when you said that, i'm not sure of how they sound though.

Little Android Man 07-09-2007 01:37 PM

The bells on hybrids are weak.

maniac0796 07-09-2007 02:18 PM

Mmmmm, K hybrids. They would cost an absolute fortune, and if LedZep's statement is true, then yeah...

drummguy731 07-09-2007 07:55 PM

They aren't weak, just not what you want. If you want something that'll make ears bleed, I'd go with the A Custom Ping Ride or the K Custom Ride(either in 22"). Either those or the K Heavy Ride.

maniac0796 07-10-2007 11:59 AM

I don't want an uber heavy ride, because in all honestly, i can get the same sound from a ingot of iron.

drummguy731 07-10-2007 03:49 PM

The rides I suggested aren't really heavy(except the K Heavy Ride, which is pretty hravy). The K Custom and Ping Rides are both Medium-Heavy in weight, which isn't that heavy. The Projection ride is Heavy, but you might want to try those just for the heck of it.

maniac0796 07-10-2007 03:59 PM

I'll write em down and add em to the list.

The projection rides description sounds good, but the sound samples on the zildjian site make it sound very simple. I was looking for something a bit more complex.

K custom medium, was pretty much the same as the Projection.

And the ping was just eugh

However, i looked at the A custom medium, and that was nice sounding.

From what I've found out so far, it's the Sabian AAX stage ride, and the Zildjian A custom Medium ride which have caught my ear the most.

drummguy731 07-10-2007 08:36 PM

Cool dude, good luck!

Alright, I'm in a pickle. I need a jazzier crash and I'm looking at the 17" K Thin Dark Crash. I'm pretty much set on that, but I was wondering how the 17" K Custom Dark Crash sounds in comparison. Also, any other suggestions would be great.

GodOfDrums 07-11-2007 01:27 PM

Duz ne1 no wht simbolz travis uzes?

drummguy731 07-11-2007 01:36 PM

Hahahahahaahahhaaahaha.....Why don't you go to Zildjian's website and look up his artist profile?

Drum Phil 07-11-2007 01:40 PM

Can someone suggest a pair of hats that would go well with 13" Meinl byzance fast hats? Contrasting yet blending.

Dont care about brand. Prefer them to be darkish with a brightish chick.

drummguy731 07-11-2007 01:43 PM

I really love my K Hybrid hats. With being both lathed and unlathed, and brilliant and traditional, they've got a really good blend of warmth and brightness. They also have a really good chick.

Drum Phil 07-11-2007 01:45 PM

I think they'll be too different to the fast hats. They've got a trad (or brilliant, i forget) finish top and a raw bottom with holes drilled through.

I'm thinking maybe some paiste sig SE's. Just for variation.

GodOfDrums 07-11-2007 01:47 PM

dnt gt payst. thy suk. get zilshun

drummguy731 07-11-2007 01:48 PM

That's cool. Give 'em a try though if you get a chance.

And to the other dude, you can't be serious. Buying a cymbal because of its shininess? That's sad. Barker uses a combination of A's and K's. Good luck.

oliv_da_skinmasher 07-11-2007 01:50 PM

Phil go for SE's they're tasty

Drum Phil 07-11-2007 01:52 PM

Im thinking of the 15s for mucho wash to contrast the 13s tightness.

oliv_da_skinmasher 07-11-2007 01:58 PM

Yeah phil. I'm gettin 15" 2002 SE's

Drum Phil 07-11-2007 01:59 PM

Nice man. I prefer sig hats to 2002s, but whatever floats your boat.

oliv_da_skinmasher 07-11-2007 02:03 PM

Yeah phil man for sure, I love 2002's

Drum Phil 07-11-2007 02:09 PM

Im after a 20" 2002 thin crash but apparently they dont make them anymore

oliv_da_skinmasher 07-11-2007 02:20 PM

they will if you ask nicely.

drummguy731 07-11-2007 02:22 PM

 You might be able to find one around. Paiste might even have some left over from production.

oliv_da_skinmasher 07-11-2007 02:23 PM

i believe they'd make a custom order one
