Can I make a nOfficial Ozzfest thread? I'm tired of seeing like 9 of these everyday.
I just came in here to suggest that idea to the mods. It does get annoying so many of these, especially if Ozzfest has absolutely nothing to do with you. No other festival seems to choke up the forum like Ozzfest does, and they never seem to let up. Limiting it to one Ozzfest thread per tour could be a great idea.

The Mods aren't too keen on the idea of any more Official threads. I think they'd just prefer to close/delete threads on the same topic.

Riva 05-07-2005 05:50 AM

Why doesn't someone make a good all-info thread, and then everyone simply has to link the threadstarter to that thread. I agree that one Ozzfest thread is enough, and that discussing a different aspect of the festival does not warrant a new thread.

Especially considering a good half of the forums aren't North American.

munky_magik 05-07-2005 05:51 AM

The all encompassing threads are a great idea in theory, but never work in practice. When it get's over 5 pages, and the posts are over 5 lines people just ignore them.
Unless it was made an official thread most people wouldn't promote use of it.
And stuff.

Probably has outlived its usefulness.

TheDMV 05-07-2005 08:46 AM

Allright, well I'm going to go ahead and make a thread called The ***Unofficial*** Ozzfest Thread. Get back to me in like 5 minutes on this or it's up!

TheDMV 05-07-2005 09:03 AM

THer seems to be a decent ozzzfest thread up now, so I'll wait, but if I see one more...

If you're asking to be allowed to do something always await for a Mod to pass judgement before doing it.

Dried Muffin Remnants 05-07-2005 11:02 AM

Earlier it was brought up to possibly have a Best Drummer type tournament. I was just wondering if that's still a possibility. Some people said that people on this board will all choose Lars Ulrich and John Bonham; but I disagree, I think there are MANY other great drummers out there that people know out there.

I'm probably too much of a n00b to run it, but I'd be willing to run it if this is acceptable and if nobody else wants to run it.

Hey this is for Med, I think 1983 would be a good year for the great years of music thread

Some album that came out:

Metallica - Kill 'Em All
1984 - Van Halen
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood
Michael Jackson - Thriller
R.E.M.- Murmer
The Police - Synchronicity
U2 - War
Pyromania - Def Leppard
The Ramones - Subterranean Jungle
Infidels - Bob Dylan
An Innocent Man - Billy Joel

here's every other album that came out in 1983

another good year - 1980

the two albums i can think of now are Blizzard of Ozz and Back in Black. i'll come back and edit some more

Bartender 05-08-2005 08:12 AM

1980 had
Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables
Joy Division - Closer
Talking Heads - Remain in Light
The Circle Jerks - Group Sex
Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
Motorhead - Ace of Spades

off the top of my head. Not to mention one of the greatest films of all time in The Blues Brothers.

EDIT: I'd imagine Judas Priest had an album out then too.

Endless Obsession 05-08-2005 08:17 AM

I think an Official System of a down thread might be good for R&M it would get rid of a lot of threads.
