Anybody ever heard Tonight's the Night by Neil Young? It's this rare album he cut after some people from Crazy Horse died.

I can upload, if anybody's interested.
I started reviewing it last night. It'll be up today probably so check it out.

Krabsworth 02-16-2006 10:14 AM
I don't know. They're psychedelic songs are mostly really '#1 psychedelia' material. I mean songs like "Strawberry Fields", "I Am the Walrus", "Within You Without You", "Lucy in the Sky", "I'm Only Sleeping", "Tomorrow Never Knows"...etc just sound like they could not have come out of the Bay Area scene. Jimi Hendrix is another one that's hard to group.
A couple of their songs belong with group 1 I think, but I'd still say they are closer to group 2. Although I wasn't grouping based on location of regional sound (i.e. the Bay Area)

And LepperMessiah, I haven't heard that but I really want to. If anyone could upload that they'd be my hero.

magicbus 02-16-2006 11:28 AM

Blues For Allah is pretty cool. We were listening to that yesterday in the car, I think I'll download it.

So I'm probably going to see B.B. King when he comes here, and it's only for 15 bucks.

Broken Arrow 02-16-2006 11:55 AM

He's coming close to here to but it's at a Casino.

I posted my Neil Young review.

Badmoon 02-16-2006 03:38 PM

Equal Rights is a good album; my favorite, followed by Legalize It! Equal Rights has a much more mature sound, and a better production, if you ask me.

Yeah.

I decided to send it out randomly.

Mainly because it was under 50mb.
I got the Montery Pop Festivel dvd today, and wow that is an amazing dvd. It has the original film, the outtakes, and Hendrix's complete preformance. I think that concert is one of the, if not the, greatest moment in rock. I had never seen Hendrix's preformance aside from him burning his guitar and hearing Wild Thing on a greatest hits. The rest of his show is great also, I love it when he does the backwards roll on the floor while still playing. Just watching his preformace has really made me remember what music is all about.
Yeah I loove the Montery Pop Festival DVD(s). I think Ravi Shankar probably had the best performance, although there were a lot of great bands.

Thanks for all the albums guys, I stayed home from school today therefore my parents will probably pull out the "you are too sick to go out tonight" so I need some good albums to keep me company.

I think it's hard to classify the Beatles into either one psych group or another simply because even their most psychedelic songs aren't popular because they are psychedelic, they are popular because they are all amazingly written songs. Most of their psychedelia was more on the pop psych side, albums like MMT definitely...but that doesn't make them any worse than "true psych" bands. Oh god, I'm turning into one of those guys who tries to classify everything now.

robo2448 02-16-2006 03:47 PM

BB King has his own blues club in NYC and he plays there often, but tickets are always $85. Way too much.

I just downloaded LA Getaway from the site. The guy seemed very enthusiastic about it. It was a supergroup consisting of The Flying Burrito Brothers bassist, The Turtles drummer and a guitar player from some other group. Chris Hill and Clarence White of the Byrds, Booker T. Jones, and Dr. John all played on it too. I'm going to listen to it in a minute.

np: RHCP- By the Way

Edit- Ravi Shankar is beyond awesome. I've been listening to him a lot the last couple weeks. I want to get his Monterey performance.

Anyone here no how to factor polynomials?

25n^2+20n-4

I can't seem to get this one. I'm sure I'm making some really stupid mistake because I haven't been thinking straight all day.

Complete the square.

EDIT: I think it might be 5n(5n+4)-4

Not sure, though.

PinkFreud 02-16-2006 05:51 PM

that's what i was thinking.

robo2448 02-16-2006 05:55 PM

jpj, use the quadratic formula. The equation isn't factorable, so you have to use the quadratic equation.

np: Ancient Grease- Women and Children First

If you use completing the square, you have to make sure the x^2 coefficient is 0 so you have to divide everything by 25 and it will turn into a mess. Quadratic equation is easier.

And the answer I got was -20 +- square root of 800 and all that divided by 50.

Cool Beans 02-16-2006 06:02 PM

Have you guys heard of Little Barrie?

Such a great band, if not I may have to upload the album.

I've also been diggin' on Donovan's Greatest Hits.

Formula:
(-b+- (square root of b^2 - 4(a)(c))
2a

It's hard to type formulas over the internet. I'll check sparknotes to see if they have it typed out clearer.

Slug, I've never heard of that band, but I'd be interested in hearing some. And Donovan owns. I need more of his stuff. He's awesome.

Review of Little Barrie:

Sweetly rich session opener 'Free Salute' incorporates acid-jazz arrangements and captivating choruses while on 'Please Tell Me' they’ve taken on a rootsy blues style and dropped a smattering of rock in to the mix.

Closing with energetic vocals setting off the bluesy guitars of 'Long Hair' perfectly, Little Barrie prove it's all about the groove.

Wait, I think that formula is to simplify it, I'm trying to factor it.
