nothing to hide and 110 are what ive been listenin to lately
Nothing to hide is my favorite IME album. Permanent, I think, is the superior CMO album.

EDIT: Every band mentioned in the last like 6 posts rule.

EDIT2: I didn't really like Guns Up until Outlive came out. That album rules.

EDIT3: A lot of my guitar riffs are ripped off from In My Eyes. I could talk about this **** all day.

RetiredAt21 08-17-2010 11:17 AM

permanent is very good too yeah

Last Lights are the best '00s band.

I have that entire "photo shoot" on my computer still. post the "in the forest doing mushrooms" pic.

you're so like into underground hardcore, like oh muh god, even though they were a minor band with no real influence on anything they are definitely better than the countless number of other bands who actually had a hand in shaping the sound and common thought process of a scene that was around for at least 8 years before last lights started making noise.

american nightmare
have heart (really if you disagree you need to get over any bullpoop you feel about them)
mental
ceremony
shark attack (personal pick, rest should be accepted as without bias though)

NOTindietrash 08-18-2010 08:37 AM

luckily I am on a session in which I am logged on as this user, which doesn't have you on the ignore list. oh joy.

first of all, why are you writing like that? am I supposed to respond like that? I'm not going to do that.

second of all, a person's music taste is not about which band shaped what or influneced that. it's about which music you enjoy. if you seriously believe that the bands you picked are mandatory to like and that Last Lights are not worth mentioning because they were a minor band, then you are nothing but a elitist d-bag.

you listen to bands that are considered more influential. good job. I listen to bands I like. and Last Lights have touched and influenced me more than either of the bands you posted have.

also, iwrotehaikusaboutcannibalisminyouryearbook is the definite best hardcore band of the '00s, but I'm assuming emo isn't a style of hardcore anymore, since most of you cool guys have "moved on" to either a) contemporary classical music, b) shoegaze, c) crust and power violence or - my personal favourite - d) mystery tough guy hardcore.

good luck with that. haikus are in any event one of the best band ever, and their music will always mean more to me than either of the bands you posted. and Last Lights are tons more interesting than either band on your list. their LP is so ****ing intense, and thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish, it just blows other contemporary hardcore albums away.

whiteminority 08-18-2010 09:50 AM

Last Lights are not worth mentioning in the best of the decade because their demo and that LP while both awesome, they get a lot of play time from me, they weren't even best records of the year. So to put them in a category, for what I would hope to be a somewhat objective list, of "best" bands of the 00s is foolish and really just ignorant of the scene of the past 10 years. Yes influence is not the marking of a great band, but in determination of the "best" or "greatest" bands of the past 10 years I think anyone with some sort of understanding of music (which as much as it repulses me to say you do seem to possess this) would realize that a bands influence is a measure of greatness. Intensity while something of a small obsession of mine, as well as yours, musically isn't a sign of greatness. Something that you really haven't grasped yet, but once you realize that there is more to music than those pathos-overloaded emo 7"s you seem to cling dear I think you will understand what I am saying a little better.

Also what the **** is mystery tough guy hardcore?

NOTindietrash 08-18-2010 09:57 AM

you still don't understand the concept of musical preference being subjective. that's why it's called *preference*. I like artist x, but other people might *prefer* artist y. this is due to personal *preference*.

and yes, I'd sure as hell put the bands I like the most as the best bands, not the one you consider the most influential in your scene or whatever. like I care about your scene. you probably enjoy it. great. good for you. I don't listen to music based on its influence nonetheless.

as for mystery tough guy hardcore, I meant to write mystery *and* tough guy hardcore. i.e. mystery guy hardcore and tough guy hardcore.

I don't listen to either. I listen to the haikus LP.

whiteminority 08-18-2010 10:04 AM

Subjectivity is the sign of the weak mind.

Iluvatar 08-18-2010 10:07 AM

well i mean im pretty sure basic reading will point out the question was being presented asking for a more objective answer as opposed to subjective

i mean im not going to say 1905 was one of the best hardcore bands of the decade just cause i like them a whole bunch AND YOU SHOULDNT EITHER

NOTindietrash 08-18-2010 10:27 AM
Subjectivity is the sign of the weak mind.
right. because hardcore is a science now? go team.

xMalcolmXx 08-18-2010 10:32 AM

the question was best band of 00's, not favorite
well i mean im pretty sure basic reading will point out the question was being presented asking for a more objective answer as opposed to subjective
