No, I think his vocals have improved, I just don't think they sound too much alike Filth's.

I heard one song off BDM's new album last night and I honestly thought it had some of the worst vocals I have ever heard. And the music was incredibly generic.

can you give me an example of what good vocals are then?

It's not really a genre I touch on much, but to give some common ground, I think Dark Tranquillity's are great.

I honestly went into the song with an open mind with no preconceptions, but the vocals were the most irritating thing ever.

i think trevor has decent vocals. he's not incredible or anything, but i don't think he sucks.

and mikael stanne is decent as well, but nothing spectacular imo.

Fused Together In Revolving Doors is their best.
Can't help you with Arch Enemy, I don't like them so I haven't checked their new stuff.
I can recommend Spiritual Beggars to you. their guitarist plays in that band.
It's stoner/retro rock, not death metal. :p
But it's still good.
