cant stand tool... too slow... too, gay... i've heard a few songs my ex-friend Shaun sent me, they sucked...

Adam Jones is GOD 05-15-2005 12:44 PM

Im sure our music catalogue is well stocked with all kinds of crap then.

Seriously, think before posting such empty crits in a thread for Tool fans.

Someone has ADD.

Dude3 05-15-2005 12:57 PM

I think I'm retarded. I still can't do the Aenima logo.

jamesclelland 05-15-2005 01:07 PM
Lateralus is a brilliant album, but I kinda feel it falls under its own weight sometimes. After the title track or maybe once Disposition has slowed my mood down I kinda feel like I need a break if I'm really focusing on the music, and i'm sure other people would fall before this point.

I do love the album as a whole, but it's a little too long, by say, 10 or 20 minutes, IMO. That's not to say it isn't an amazing, wonderful, life changing album. Because it has been all of those things, but it's certainly not perfection. I hope on their next release they could cut down (not necesserally out) some of the more unnecessary parts. Though I'm sure some people would disagree and say "every part is necessary for the perfection that is Lateralus!"

I personally never really "got" Triad to the extent where some people say it's so awesome, though I really like Reflection and Disposition. Sure, Triad's tone is sweet, and it has some coll sounding bits, but it's just more or less a powerchord jamm, surely?
i dont know if you had replies, to lazy to look. but i like triad because i saw it live with meshuggahs drummer. dc and the other guy held a polyrythym throughout the whole song. that and maynard play a second bass guitar. download a live video and you'll see why everyone likes it.

I think I will.

Idiot Martyr 05-15-2005 01:35 PM

I really liked Lateralus. Probably more than the other albums. But Aenema was a good album. Though I would have liked more real songs it.

How exactly do you do the AE logo?

Sleeper 05-15-2005 01:38 PM

Im starting to listen to more of tools stuff when they had Paul.

Kage 05-15-2005 01:52 PM

Ænima logo - HOLD DOWN Alt and then, on your keyboard's number pad (as you're holding ALT), type the numbers 0198

Your clearly a moron, and not just because you don't like Tool. Using the word "gay" to describe something you dislike is just plain stupid, not to mention you like garbage like ateyu or whatever that "band" is called.

Grow up.

If you look for a lil red dot floating around the bottom of the screen, you can click it and up pops an article on lachrymology written by Blair.

Adam Jones is GOD 05-15-2005 02:00 PM

I link to the news page on my bookmarks. So I never see the first screen.

Not necessarily a Lynch fan, but I definitely enjoy the films from that other strange, well-known David, Fincher.

He's a filmmaker who is most praised for movies like Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, and my personal all-time favorite movie, Mulholland Drive.

After the first viewing, no I had no idea what was going on. But I think that's kind of the idea. It stayed with me for several days afterwards, and I just thought about it a lot. I saw it a second time, and things started falling into place. After the third time, I had reached some conclusions about what it was about.

A great deal of the appeal is the mind-bending surrealism and the lush Noir quality. It also explores a subject that absolutely fascinates me. (and I can't say I didn't enjoy the steamy lesbian scenes to a great degree :naughty: ) I actually am working on a write-up analysis for it for a website, I'll post it here when I'm finished.

If you're a fan of surrealism and dark, strange movies I recommend them strongly. Mulholland in particuluar, I find that movie to be a masterpiece. I didn't like Blue Velvet, because it was very..straight-forward. I don't like mysteries much, either. I recommend Eraserhead as well, but be prepared to come out of it feeling weird.

That's actually the only part of the movie I've seen... (yeah, I know.) But I'm definitely interested.

And now that you mentioned surrealism, has anyone here ever seen Un Chien Andalou? It's a seventeen minute short film made in the 1920's, by Luis Bunel and Salvator Dali, and is one of the pinnacles of surrealism. I got the chance to see it at a rare (at the time) screening in NYC. Very amazing and strange. I highly suggest checking it out, now that it's available on DVD. It's opening minute is probably the most shocking in early cinema.

- Sorry for not posting this sooner, but in a recent post by Blair, he reveals that a Tool US Mini Tour with the band ISIS is in the works:

geMINI + TAURUS = MIN(O)TAUR (See: GenISIS)

Further evidence to prove this is that Justin Chancellor recently played live with ISIS and they stated that "your two favorite 4-letter bands will be touring together." Check out the ISIS website, here. Stay tuned for more on this... -EyeChakra"

http://www.distortiononline.com

I knew there was something to be made of the end note, but since i have never heard of isis i had no cahnce :upset: You may have worked it out already but i just found it on this dudes tool site.

Did anyone know about tricky's (tricky=trip-hop artist...in the band massive attack) involvement in the parabola video?

(expects in chains to have an answer to this)

Rothmans 05-15-2005 02:57 PM

I wouldnt say it is trye but you never know.

clearvision 05-15-2005 03:00 PM

Well it's not set in stone or anything. but Blair put it there for a reason. And I haven't seen anymore suggestions...I may go surf the toolshed forums and see what they say on the matter...

I kind of like all those hidden messages and stuff. Good work.

And Tricky played the guy in the Parabola video who had those things coming out of his head. His little bouncy alien friend was killed by the floating orb.

And if someone wants to explain the symbolism in that video, I would love it.

The day someone figures it out, we're finished. I only get the Alex Grey CGI part, mainly as its one of his pieces of work animated.

clearvision 05-15-2005 03:10 PM

Back from my venture to toolshed...

Well all i got was crackheads talking about how the new album couold tie with the new harry potter book

grrr crackheads...

Someone suggested that the tour wasn't Isis but VOLTO as Blair keeps tlaking about them, but he had no evidence except blair talks about them. And i can't see any logic to why it may be VOLTO and not Isis.

/Checks out Isis

//realises he doesn't live in US :upset:

Adam Jones is GOD 05-15-2005 03:11 PM

Yeah Rob, stop digging for this one. All you'll do is reveal a US mini tour for Tool, and how will that make us feel?

clearvision 05-15-2005 03:16 PM

True...

I'm just bored....and this ridiculous log equation is staring me in the face :(

Using : 2log (x + 2) + log x = log (13x + 6)

Show that : x³ + 4x² - 9x -6 = 0

/Hopes a knight in shining armour will come and solve his equation for him :upset:

Is this what it has come to? :upset:
