Well, from that list I posted, these are the 5 I bought:

Brainstorm - Soul Temptation
Gamma Ray - Somwhere Out In Space
Heavenly - Sign of the Winner
Insania - Sunrise In Riverland
Nocturnal Rites - New World Messiah

^I'm liking them all, besides Brainstorm. I've only listened to the first couple tracks, but they weren't doing it for me. I'll give it a full spin later and see if I change my mind. The Gamma Ray and Nocturnal Rites are currently my favorites...

Stoic 02-04-2007 04:33 PM

Damn, Brainstorm are my fault :upset:

ExitWound 02-04-2007 04:44 PM

For everyone interested, Wizard's new disc GOOCHAN is available for streaming on my website. Please, don't link to it from other sites or I'll be forced to remove it. That is, if anyone out there besides me listens to them. ;)

Dude. I had heard Odin and Head of the Deceiver back in the day and they sound much different now. More "modern". Less speed. :-\
Damn, Brainstorm are my fault :upset:
Heh....no worry. They were all in near mint condition, and only 10 bucks each. The day before I won 40 bucks in poker.....so the way I look at it, I didn't loose anything :)

Worst comes to worse, I could sell it to my local CD sotre for $6 bucks.....but I like it enough to keep it, for now.

pate 02-04-2007 10:49 PM

I like Brainstorm.

Riva 02-04-2007 11:27 PM

Brainstorm are awesome, and that's a good album by them too.

pate 02-05-2007 09:19 AM

The first two or three tracks on Liquid Monster are better, but after that LM goes to hell, while ST stays solid.

Stoic 02-05-2007 09:22 AM

I own Ambiguity which I dislike but I liked what I heard off Soul Temptation. I think this is how Brainstorm are supposed to sound like.

CaptainWaits 02-05-2007 03:06 PM

hmmm, maybe I'm not giving them a good enough listen. What do you guys think really stands out about them?

Stoic 02-05-2007 03:17 PM

Not playing cheesy euro power maybe? :(

CaptainWaits 02-05-2007 03:49 PM
Not playing cheesy euro power maybe? :(
Heh, yeh that's one reason why I wanted to give them the go. They bore me though. They're riffs aren't to interesting, and they all sound similar.....and the drum patterns are very very dull and don't change up to much. The singer's decent, but he doesn't make the band much more interesting.

I'll give it a full spin tonight, and see if my thoughts change...

Stoic 02-05-2007 03:54 PM

I told you to save your money for Slough Feg :upset:
I told you to save your money for Slough Feg :upset:
Hey, right when I ever see one of those floating around somewhere's, I'm sure I'll get it. I'd do that with a lot of CD's. The problem is availability.

Stoic 02-05-2007 04:18 PM

http://www.evillegendrecords.com -->all you need.

CaptainWaits 02-05-2007 04:23 PM

So how do you order then??

Stoic 02-05-2007 04:37 PM
Email me:
1. Name and Address
2. Your order
3. Your method of payment

I accept Paypal (with 5% fee), Money Orders, and US CASH.
I haven't purchased anything because it's a US based label and I wouldn't bother with the proccess and all (I have euros he takes dollars). It's a reliable place, take a look at Metal-Rules trading bored and you'll see he's got a pretty good name. I don't have a credit card or paypal or bank account so whenever I bought an album from abroad I sent hidden cash (old school way).

Riva 02-06-2007 04:58 AM

Heh, I prefer using Amazon.com, even though the range is fairly poor at times, and I do get raped on price a lot.

Stoic 02-06-2007 05:08 AM

have you tried play.com It has free shipping. Shipping should a problem for the aussies :-\

Riva 02-06-2007 05:09 AM

Yes, I always qualify for Amazon's free shipping but don't get it. :-/

They need an Amazon.com.au

Stoic 02-06-2007 05:16 AM

Random: Have you listened to the new Therion? I've read some descriptions/reviews and I'm really curious...

Riva 02-06-2007 05:17 AM

Nope, but I should. I skipped on the leak of it, 'cos of my dislike of leaks, but maybe I should get it.

pate 02-06-2007 09:25 AM

You need it. Badly. Like now.

Hardhat 02-06-2007 11:16 AM

It's really good. I'd rank it as my second favorite album by them, behind Sirius B.

pate 02-06-2007 12:28 PM

It's my favorite, atm.

Iron Bars 02-06-2007 12:53 PM
Random: Have you listened to the new Therion? I've read some descriptions/reviews and I'm really curious...
I think its a great album. Therion finally do what Serius B and Lemuria promised and mixes both styles together.

CaptainWaits 02-06-2007 01:49 PM

Well.....you guys got me. :(

Brainstorm's pretty solid and sweet. I'm bad for judging albums by just one listen to a couple of songs, and that there has probably gotten me away from buying some good albums...

All apologies, you guys were right :)

CaptainWaits 02-06-2007 01:57 PM

Sorry for the double.....

But is Edguy's "Theater of Salvation" a good buy?

Josh 02-06-2007 02:28 PM

all Edguy is good, they are so awesome live as well. they stole the show when they supported DragonForce, i wish they'd do their own UK tour.

i just saw that Blind Guardian are playing Bloodstock UK this year, i may have to go...only £56 for a 2 day ticket, plus £5 to park my car, and £5 per person to camp.....

Shattered_Future 02-06-2007 03:52 PM

Therion's new album - Excellent. It's more "progressive", but it's a terrific album. It's a bit different than what they've done before...it's not as over the top, and the actual instrumentation is a TON more interesting.

Edguy - anything Edguy has done is worth buying.

Tyler 02-06-2007 03:55 PM

I love "Vain Glory Opera", but not much else Edguy have done.

Shattered_Future 02-06-2007 03:57 PM

I still withhold Mandrake to be their best album in my eyes.

Stoic 02-06-2007 04:16 PM

I've just listened to Therion's myspace and I kind of liked the songs off the new album, especially one of them was awesome. I like that Uriah Heep influence (I'm in love with this band) but damn the female vocals

pate 02-06-2007 07:33 PM

Son of the Staves of Time is like the greatest song ever.

Hardhat 02-06-2007 08:14 PM

I think my favorite song off the CD so far is the title track. I like the little sweep/tapping thing he does at the beginning of that solo...and I love the rest of the song too. Path of Arcady, Son of the Staves of Time, and Wand of Abaris are my other favorites.
Dude. I had heard Odin and Head of the Deceiver back in the day and they sound much different now. More "modern". Less speed. :-\
Indeed, but that does not make them any less good. They've matured in their songwriting and it shows. They're still WIZARD. It's a sound that's distinctively simple, yet maintains a very high quality product. It's slower, but much heavier than previous albums. This one's more akin to Odin than Magic Circle (their last disc) which maintained the WIZARD speed that we've come to expect.

GOOCHAN is much slower, but mmm so solid and still so WIZARD. A lot of bands mature to a point where their music changes and becomes something else completely (see: Blind Guardian, Nostradameus), but WIZARD has managed to keep their sound in tact and yet deliver an entirely new sound each and every album.

Shattered_Future 02-07-2007 03:06 PM

I love Trul. I'm a sucker for female vocals, and that one works really well with them.

Iron Bars 02-07-2007 03:43 PM

Just over a week and I'm going to see them again.

NP: Therion - Wisdom and the cage
Sorry for the double.....

It's a good album. It's the only full album of theirs that I heard though. I've heard songs from others, but not complete albums. Vain Glory Opera is the one I want now. I have the self titled track which is amazing. Awsome chorus.
