Wait....I thought you got your name changed to TheJackOfHearts? Or did someone just steal your avatar?
I was banned. |
The Dixie Dregs - What If
Asobi Seksu - s/t Dungen - Ta Det Lugnt |
I downloaded Two Gallants - The Throes and it's seriously amazing. I haven't been so immediately impressed with an album in ages. It reminds me of 60s Dylan in places and the Violent Femmes in others.
|
It's been a Buddy Holly day.
|
This Sigur Ros character seems interesting...
|
Such an accurate name for that album. Clutch'd be so good to see live.
Indeed. I just missed a chance to see them a couple months back, and I was none too pleased about it. |
Today was my first day of school. On the school bus and between classes I rocked out to:
Wire The Decemberists Gang of Four |

Wire The Decemberists Gang of Four
Changed your mind about Go4? I thought I saw you posting something about disliking them some time ago. |
I did used to dislike them. I think perhaps rocking out to them louder and under headphones has favorably swayed my opinion of them.
|
Hmm, New Day Rising still is beating out Zen Arcade in the Husker department in my head.

The Replacements - Let It Be
Kanye West - Late Registration |

Just recently picked up:
The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen Gang of Four - Entertainment! After a few listens, I'd say they're both great records. |

I like it quite a bit, so far.
At least someone else doesn't think so. I hate saying that because I get crucified by the fanboys.
Lots of people don't think it's great. Still a solid album. |
The Residents
Idiot Flesh |
Edan
J-Zone MF Doom It was a hip hop kind of day, especially considering I met Biz Markie. |
You did? You lucky bastard! I've loved the Biz since I was just a wee fella.
Today 'twas: mclusky - Do Dallas Nick Cave - No More Shall We Part Trinity Roots Straitjacket Fits |
Mmm Trinity Roots, got to love True. One of the only quality acts coming out of Wellington at the moment, along with Rhian Sheehan. Who's album Tiny Blue Biosphere I just bought on the weekend, and am loving.
|
Hell no. Considering Trinity Roots have no broken up and that the Black Seeds, Phoenix Foundation, Fat Freeddy's Drop and basically anything Barnaby Weird touches are all brilliant ( and from Welly) I'm going to have to POOP on your statement Liberi my man.
|
Never heard of this Barnaby Weird. The Phoenix Foundation are indeed another great band from Wellington, as are Fad Freddy's Drop. I have never really found much to be interested in with The Black Seeds.
It just seems to me as though Wellington lacks in other areas of the musical world, where other parts of New Zealand thrive. It does however have a great Jazz scene, which I don't really hear much of thanks to the r18 limit to most gigs. |
Sorry, his name's Weir not Weird. He's the dude from The Black Seeds and the main guy behind Fly My Pretties. He also does a solo side-project which I forget.
Auckland still has the best bands, but Welington has the heart and soul. Especially Trinity Roots. Man, they were easily the best NZ band I've ever seen and one of the most passionate, soulful, intense and warm shows I've seen from anyone. I'll miss them so. |
It was a hip hop kind of day, especially considering I met Biz Markie.
Ha, cool. Where'd you meet him? I woke up to the Zombies today, played a couple random CDs in the car. Etc. |
Sorry, his name's Weir not Weird. He's the dude from The Black Seeds and the main guy behind Fly My Pretties. He also does a solo side-project which I forget.
Ah, sounds vaguely familiar.
Auckland still has the best bands, but Welington has the heart and soul. Especially Trinity Roots. Would have been wonderful to see them live for the last time ever. |

mmmmmmmmmm Entertainment. Good work bro. My burner is working now. must borrow cds.
I'm diggin Bruce Sprinsteen. |
I heard an Antony & the Johnsons song last night. It's called I hope theres someone ( or something similar). I don't know what to make of it yet. It was rather interesting adn sad to boot, but his voice kinda creeps me out.

Well it's true, it's a 3/5 and a 3.5/5 on a good day. I've never really seen what was so great about the album other than it's one where you listen to it once every couple of months and then it's back in the CD case. |
Scarface - The Diary
GBV - Half Smiles Of The Decomposed |
Cursive - Burst & Bloom
M. Ward - Transfiguration of Vincent Built To Spill - Perfect From Now On I forgot how good that Built to Spill album was. Geez, I love it so much. |
At least someone else doesn't think so. I hate saying that because I get crucified by Iai.
Fix'd. I'm actually listening to it right now. :p |
Fix'd.

Sure.
That's the album that I wanted to hear more, but it's taking forever to download. I'm listening to Evig Pint right now and really enjoying it, though. I'm going to have to buy an album. It's going to be difficult to track down, though.
Hey, just thought you want to know that Kaizers Orchestra has just released a new CD in Norway, called Maestro. Have not listened to it yet, but the reviews has been great |
