So my local drum store is having a sale on paiste dimentions. A heavy ride goes for 170 US. Is that good?

fishbulb 06-26-2007 10:41 PM

Pretty good. Generally i think of pro level rides going for $200 and up.

drummguy731 06-26-2007 10:49 PM

Speaking of rides, anyone have any experience with the 22" K Ride? I like the 20", but it sounds too similar to my K Hybrid, so I figured a bigger size would mean a bigger, slightly lower sound.

fishbulb 06-26-2007 10:51 PM

Berk has a K Heavy ride so he might have looked into the K ride and K Hybrids as well.

Give him a holla.

drummguy731 06-26-2007 10:52 PM

Yeah, the 24" Light Ride is going to be way too hard to control and on the wallet for me.

fishbulb 06-26-2007 11:01 PM

Steal it?

Then again it is a 24" cymbal so it would be hard to conceal that, but maybe if...

Static 06-26-2007 11:49 PM

22" is darker and more metallic than the 20".

drummguy731 06-27-2007 11:16 PM

Yeah, that's what I'd like, a darker sound then the Hybrid. I really need to find some other sound clip then Zildjian's. Hopefully they'll have one in Chicago.

Cjc1706 06-29-2007 06:10 PM

hey,

im looking for a match for my current A custom 18" crash. Im thinking of either going for a 19" A custom, another 18" A Custom, a 19" Avendis Med / Thin crash or an 18" Advendis Med/Thin crash ?

What do you guys think. I may treat myself to two of the above so please let me know what you think

Cheers

CJ

fishbulb 06-29-2007 07:24 PM

I personally wouldn't get two of the same exact crash. Maybe the same size but a different line like a Projection or a Fast?

Cjc1706 06-29-2007 07:44 PM

yeah, im leaning more toward the 18 A Crash (Thin/Med) or the 19" version of it. Just hope that it will mix well with the A custom

Cheers

CJ

Hey,

I'm looking for a ride cymbal that has a nice ping to it and can be used to crash on when needed and will fit in nicely with heavy rock styled music.

I currently own a 20" Z Custom ride and hate it... Looking for something a fair bit lighter with more wash to it.

Cheers

hmmm, pingy and crashable? Gonna be a hard to find combination. My 22" A Ping Ride is pingy but it sucks as a crash. Maybe the 20" might work better.

TTTSNB 07-03-2007 08:21 AM

^ K Heavy Ride. Won't be super pingy, but certainly enough for rock music, with a nice crash sound.

fishbulb 07-03-2007 10:06 AM

When you said ping i thought a heavy ride, but when you said wash and crash i thought a thinner ride.

What are the sweet rides like? For some reason that came to my mind.

Mr. Grill 07-03-2007 12:13 PM

Sweet rides are all wash and no definition.

fishbulb 07-03-2007 12:19 PM

So just ugly.

ludvista29 07-03-2007 12:25 PM

Maybe an A Medium Ride.

Seafroggys 07-03-2007 01:20 PM
Maybe an A Medium Ride.
yes, and use nylon tip for additional pinginess.

fishbulb 07-03-2007 01:43 PM

Ouch, nylon tips suck, but it will probably help your pinginess.

Mos Def.

gimp fest 07-08-2007 05:44 AM

hey,
i'm looking to upgrade my B8 ride. I don't have much of an idea about how size affects sound, but i would like a ride with clean, clear stick definition with a fairly bright sound. I play two bands, one playing grindcore and one indie(ish) band.
thanks for any help

ant_182 07-08-2007 05:54 AM

Try them out!!! the Paiste 2002s are lovely, I would get a 22" or 20" :)

gimp fest 07-08-2007 05:57 AM

thanks man, i really would but i don't know a shop near me that i can try cymbals out at.I'm living pretty rural here :p
are the paiste soundclips worth listening to?

Yes. Paiste are the only manufacturer I know of that aim for and achieve consistency within all their models in all their ranges.

gimp fest 07-08-2007 06:14 AM

right, thanks. any other rides i could look into?

oliv_da_skinmasher 07-08-2007 09:52 AM

Paiste 2002, Signature

Zildjian K/Custom

Sabian AAX/HHX/HH

fishbulb 07-08-2007 11:40 AM

Yes, Paiste soundclips are real accurate.

I'm getting a 2oo2 Heavy ride 20". I want a nice bright ping with lots of stick definition and little wash and the 2oo2 Heavy Ride pretty much fits the bill.
