Pretty much what i think, and what Tool have stated in the past. The track/album thing is always confused by people though

Edit: Get out the way clearvision! ^^
The peach album is quality, gotta love spasm, and the cover of catfood is most amusing. Meh i don't think of it as a minor scale, and it was the first mode that came to my head :( maan it's like being in the guitar forum.
I don't go there, like ever.

clearvision 04-17-2005 04:06 PM

I'm still trying to catch Kage :(

The Aenima idea seems fair enough to me, specailly with all the bad shizz going on beforehand desenzitization, MJK's childhood troubles, the sellout message in hooker..., whatever push!ts about... yeah seems cool to me :)

That gets me thinking, what the hell is push!t about?

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-17-2005 04:07 PM

Oh, here I thought I came up with it on my own. :(

I've gathered that it could be metaphorically being backed into a corner, and then lashing out (the hands around your throat part).

Adam Jones is GOD 04-17-2005 04:08 PM

Push1t gives me the impression of a a relationship break up of mutual consent. One where both sides are negatively effected by each other, and realise the only way to continue is seperate

Ok, maybe that's just my personal interpretation based on personal feelings towards the song. But that's how I see it.

Its fair to say that everything thought up about Tool has already been though somewhere else. But thats doesnt make it any less worth it.

Good to see you're on a good mind wavelength. And that Med is keeping it up too

I never read the lyrics so I could be wrong based only on what I've heard.

clearvision 04-17-2005 04:14 PM

Does it relate to H. ? I always thought that was about a relationship 'I am too connected to you, slip away, fade away. Taste the way i still feel you, touching me, changing me.' Sounds to me like he's had a relationship, but still needs to deal with the person in life, and it hurts. But he uses 'his eyes' instead of your or her...

meh that was my interp of H, and i was kind of on those lines with push!t, liek he was in a relationship, had a way of getting out, but the fact that the other half still says they love him and he likes the action 'alive when your touching me...' adn the infant mixed up in there somwehre...

But can't get my head around 'staring down the hole again..' i can't really find anythign that can be a metaphor for in a relationship...

Adam Jones is GOD 04-17-2005 04:16 PM

Hole - Void. The emptyness of feelings between each ohter. In other words, a loveless relationship that isnt benefiting anyone and has long lost meaning or purpose. Which could then tie in with a drug theme

Late night thinking is great, oxygen to brain, i could talk crap for ages

I guess H. could be about courtly love.

For 1/2 second then I read Courtney Love, and was about to go insane evil over such a reference

White Goodman 04-17-2005 04:20 PM

I think it is fitting for me to post my first post on my favorite band's thread. :thumb:

I had never really thought about H. and Push!t being connected but seems like they could mean about the same thing.

Amen, it is great. 'Cept when youg et shiz on your mind and can't sleep :( The whole Hole (hehehe) thing is kinda strange though because he says there is still love in the relationship and physical stuff, it's just the fact he's getting sh!t pushed on him that he wants out, and he can see an exit...He's probably held from going through the gap by love, leaving me still confused on the hole thing. (hehehe)

Welcome aboard.

I've never read the lyrics for H. I will someday I guess.

And I was too busy having a life to participate dammit.

Im going to have to look at Pushits lyrics again. My views on that though are biased to personal experiences, and as we know, working out MJK's original intentions is like traversing a minefield with no legs

Moses 04-17-2005 04:24 PM

I think, lyrically and philosophically Aenima was thier best album so far. Hopefully the new one will have as much "meat on the bone" as Aenima.

clearvision 04-17-2005 04:26 PM

Well i don't think anyones ever sniffing near a true meaning to these personal songs...It's only songs like the grudge and stinkfist that can be interpreted well...

White Goodman 04-17-2005 04:26 PM

I usually read the lyrics at songmeanings.net and post what I think the song means. I don't post there anymore because people think its cool to start arguements over what they think the lyrics should read  . Meh, just an idea for a place to read lyrics without getting 500 pop-ups.

clearvision 04-17-2005 04:28 PM

http://toolshed.down.net is the place for toll lyrics, straight from MJK's hands...

KillerShears 04-17-2005 04:44 PM

In my opinion, Tool gets better with every album, and has yet to show a sign of sell-outness..oh, it'll happen someday...The whole involvedness with politics scares me on Maynard's part...I don't have a political bias, but I hate lyrics about politics.

Moses 04-17-2005 04:48 PM
And the FAQ. You're not a Tool fan until you've read the FAQ. It's filled with SO much info.
I've read it.

White Goodman 04-17-2005 04:49 PM

The political motive behind Emotive is the main reason I don't own that album. It was an original idea that was worth a try, but I just don't like the idea of Maynard singing about politics. Maybe it's just me.

edit: I don't think Tool will sell out, I just don't think it is possible for such a great band to sell out.

I just didn't get attached to the music.

I gyou read it and knew everything you read, you are an even bigger tool fan than anyone in this thread.

Plus you need to get out more

White Goodman 04-17-2005 04:56 PM

well the political motive and the fact that A Perfect Circle kind of butchered up Led's "When the Levee Breaks" are the main reasons i didn't buy Emotive. When I heard their version of that song, I just wanted to cry because I thought A Perfect Circle could surely do better than that.

I liked Mer de Noms, but my complaint was the lack of originality, I guess. I haven't actually listened to it that much though.

clearvision 04-17-2005 05:00 PM

I don't mind when the levee breask, there arem more annoying songs on the album...

Im off to bed, night thread..
