Hardcore is very much about "unity." There are certain gangs, known as hardcore crews, that stick together and support eachother (and keep eachother off drugs and support being edge). Boston Beatdown, FSU (stands for Friends Stand United and Fuck Shit Up), and a few others are from Boston.

It's like a bunch of gangs with different styles of hardcore. Hardcore around here tends to have a pinch of metal and grind thrown into it, although hardcore kids will vehemtly deny any association to "that metal bullshit."

It's just like rap; different areas, different styles. The Connecticut scene isn't as screamy as Boston's. CT's has more yelling with raspy vocals (listen to the band With Honor. They're from CT).

Edit: Is skarma your combo of ska and kharma LS?

Left Shoe 03-02-2005 07:27 PM

yeah , check page like 3001ish , skarma got peeted

BassVirtuoso 03-02-2005 07:30 PM

New avatar.

risbo 03-02-2005 07:31 PM

 Yeah I saw that, how exactly does that work though?.. Just wondering how you can mix a music genre with kharma. That's like apples and oranges.

Edit: BV is that from a hawthorne heights song? Or underoath?

Left Shoe 03-02-2005 07:34 PM

hawthronme heights, thats hialrious BV

psh skarma got peeted, oyu want to be next?

underoath kicks ***

risbo 03-02-2005 07:36 PM

Still don't get the idea of skarma:confused:

I got turned of underoath after I heared a song of theirs where it's just the singer talking about god for 5 minutes.

BassVirtuoso 03-02-2005 07:38 PM

I have no idea where it's from. I got it off of some extremely emo kid's xanga.

risbo 03-02-2005 07:40 PM

My friend lent me a hawthorne heights cd and that line sounds familiar from it, not sure which song though, I'll look for it. :thumb:

BassVirtuoso 03-02-2005 07:41 PM

Chances are I won't like it.

Well they are a christian band.....

e p 03-02-2005 07:46 PM

How goes it

risbo 03-02-2005 07:46 PM

Yeah, should have thought so as the person who recomended it to me is a ministers' daughter...

risbo 03-02-2005 07:47 PM

Speaking jesus selling babies, anyone see passion of the christ?

bottlerocket 03-02-2005 07:47 PM

Hawthorne Heights sucks. I only like one song, "Ohio is for Lovers," which is the song BV's avatar is from. The screamer in that band is absolutely horrid and overall I find them boring. That one song is good, though.

And yes, Underoath is "Godcore" as I call them.
Speaking jesus selling babies, anyone see passion of the christ?
Yeah...I found it moving (as a Catholic), but it was a 3 hour guilt trip, in my opinion.

And in no way was it anti-semetic.

risbo 03-02-2005 07:49 PM

 "godcore", clever gav, clever.

Edit: As for passion of the christ, as a non religious person that just sickened me. 90% of that movie was just him being tortured, I rented it for a little background into christianity but all I learned was that he can put up with two and a half hours of torture.

cliffburtonrules 03-02-2005 07:49 PM

I don't care for Hardcore.

The music is occasionally very good. The screaming is what turns me off of them.

bottlerocket 03-02-2005 07:49 PM

To each his own, I guess. I only like certain hardcore bands and Underoath is one of them.

BassVirtuoso 03-02-2005 07:50 PM

Morbid Angel is Godcore in the unreligious sort of way.

cliffburtonrules 03-02-2005 07:55 PM

Underoath has a few good songs.

I like Until the Sun Sleeps, or Reinventing Your Exit.

PaulSimonon 03-02-2005 07:56 PM

I'm back from the guitar store(s).

Underoath kicks ***. Their new screamer, Spencer, is way better than their old screamer, Dallas.

My friend gave me a "essential emo song list" but I haven't checked it out yet.

Left Shoe 03-02-2005 08:01 PM

o gav check these guys out http://www.purevolume.com/typhoidmary

what on this essential emo list , let me and gav rate it for you

bottlerocket 03-02-2005 08:03 PM

^ Yep, he did.

My favorites (on the new CD) are 1-3. I know 1 is Young and Aspiring, and I know a Boy Brushed in Red Living in Black and White in either 2 or 3.

I like 10 a lot, too. That whole CD is just great.

risbo 03-02-2005 08:05 PM

It's a long list... Not all of it's emo but most of it. Some of the bands are

Story of the year
And you will know us by the trail of dead
Moneen
The reason
The weakerthans
The cure
Taking back sunday
Choke
Death by sterio
Senses fail
My chemical romance
Sonic Youth
Big D and the hidstable
Beluedere
Aiden
Recover
Thrice
Refused
Propagandhi

He wrote specific songs for each band but I don't feel like typing them all.
