just a project, i wanted a completely custom bass, so i decided to make one :) but if anyone is thinking about a completely hand made (when i say completely i mean COMPLETELY) bass, for the right price i just might make you one....

how long did you spend sanding it down?

well i roughly cut the torso groove with a band saw, but ive spent probably about 3 hours sanding it today, but thats nothing. i will probably spend 6 or 7 hours total on the final finishing sand just because im a bit of a prefectionist. then clear coat it and what not...

i don't know... my friend was able to make a classical guitar from scratch (all but the machine heads, of course)

he didn't have too much trouble with the neck

that is slightly different, because of it's lacking a truss rod and being so short.

well there you have it. think about it this way, if making an instument was easy, a lot more people would have made one by now. + classical has no electrical stuff in it. no pups, no potentiometers (sp?) nothing like that. but still that is quite an accomplishment.
