What did you think of those bands? I thought Gandalf and Dark were some of my favourites. Lyd was decent, I didn't listen to the Billy Cox yet.
I know this wasn't directed at me, but I'll answer anyway. I don't have the Gandalf. I only listened to one song off the Dark and Lyd albums, and I'd agree that Dark was good and Lyd was pretty mediocre. Billy Cox was awesome, but I've only listened to a couple songs off that. My favorites:

1. Little Free Rock
2. Beat of Earth
3. Dragonfly

np: The Electric Prunes- Rickenbacker 12 String
I always hear you people talking about record shows, but I've never been to one or heard of one being around here. Where do you find out about them? I wonder if Pittsburgh ever has any.
I don't know about Pittsburgh, but here in good ol' Winnipeg we usually have them in malls around spring/summer. Luckily the last time there was one I picked up a flyer for a local website, which I now order vinyls from, and it also tells me when future record shows will be.

By the way, when are the penguins coming here?:p
I made the vaporizer by chopping the very end part of the screw-in part of a lightbulb, taking out the wires/vaccuum dealy (did you know lightbulbs are vaccuum sealed?) it sounds cool when you break the vaccuum. Then you just gotta rinse out the inside of the bulb, stick a straw or hollow pen through the lid of a 2 litre bottle cap and screw it on the bulb. It's weird how a pop bottle lid screws perfectly onto a lightbulb. But it works amazing.
A screw-on cap from a bottle of lemon juice fits over a standard lightbulb quite well. If you have lemon juice, use its cap for your vapo. :thumb:

The people of Pittsburgh will commit mass genocide if they ever lose one of their teams, so hopefully never.

EDIT: Turns out there's a record show in Pittsburgh March 16 at the Radisson Hotel.

i hate not having a last.fm

****ing ipod.

Leper 02-13-2006 04:35 PM

I couldn't really care less about not having it. It's not like it really makes for great conversation. Well sometimes it does.

It's kind of fun to goad Jacadick whenever he has Britney Spears or Avril Lavigne on his last.fm.

Lunch 02-13-2006 04:48 PM

I just downloaded that Kahvas Jute album, it's really good. Crazy Aussies.

Hehe, he was pretty "Jac"ed about his list this week.

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-13-2006 05:49 PM

Lunch, what albums do you have from Camel?

Broken Arrow 02-13-2006 05:53 PM
Hehe, he was pretty "Jac"ed about his list this week.
Hey your name is from Ziggy Stardust, I noticed that last night.

I think my top three would be:

Dark
Gandalf
Electronic Hole

They're mostly all sweet though.

I'm going to download that Gandalf album next since everyone seems to dig it a lot. Check out the Beat of the Earth album, the same guy that led Electronic Hole led Beat of the Earth. The albums aren't very similiar, but they're both pretty awesome. I just downloaded A Passing Fancy s/t. Described as Canadian folk pyschedelia. Good catchy happy music, kind of like the Lovin' Spoonful or the Byrds. It's a lot like the Growing Concern which I downloaded before off the site.

np: A Passing Fancy- I Believe in Sunshine

Ha seeing the album cover art thread made me realize that pretty much every album on Chris' site has awesome cover art.

PinkFreud 02-13-2006 06:02 PM

guys! almost almost done with my rym. #1041 on mr. bungle.

Broken Arrow 02-13-2006 06:03 PM

Yeah I got that because their Canadian. lol

Acctually I think that July album could very well be the favourite I got off that site, it's so good.

Glitterati 02-13-2006 06:59 PM

1 T. Rex 19
2 The Arcade Fire 14
3 The Pogues 11
3 At the Drive-In 11
5 Stevie Wonder 9
5 Reel Big Fish 9
5 Dick Dale 9
5 Circle Takes the Square 9
9 John Coltrane 8
9 Primus 8
future Classic Rawkers FOB (:P)
I'm going to pretend that was a joke. :amaze:

Disc 2 of the Stevie Wonder album is uploading. For those who downloaded disc 1, what did you all think of it?

Jacaranda 02-13-2006 07:00 PM
Hey your name is from Ziggy Stardust, I noticed that last night.
I always thought his name was Leper Messiah which made me think it was a Metallica referance. Oh well, not that big of mistake.

I like last.fm its fun! I wish I had it back when I was just starting to listening to music alot; my perdiction: "Purple Haze" would have 19038109231+ listens same with "Lucy In the Sky...", all Jane's Addiction songs would have a good hundred or so listens, "Free Bird" and "Baba O'Riley", White Stripes and the Vines would also top it.
It's kind of fun to goad Jacadick whenever he has Britney Spears or Avril Lavigne on his last.fm.
Go make fun of that fag Plath.
I'm going to pretend that was a joke.

It wasn't.
I haven't, I'm going to wait for Disc 1&2 then listen to the entire thing, my mother used to have this on a record, so I already know I like the 1st side of disc 1, at least.
1. Grateful Dead 394
/jonG list
ned a lyfe fagt?

Speaking of the Dead today I went to Rockin Rudys (Local shop) and they had about 5 Dead albums on sale in the used section looks like someone didn't like them. So I bought Wake of the Flood I haven't listened to it yet but I have low expections so it should all be fine. Also I got a hard copy of Mott the Hoople - All the Young Dudes, all for only 15 bucks!

JonG 02-13-2006 07:04 PM

I already have that album. It's good.

:)

jpj 02-13-2006 07:18 PM

I saw that on vinyl real cheap. I should've bought it.

Lunch 02-13-2006 07:21 PM

WelcometotheMachine, I have Rain Dances (on mp3). I want Mirage and Moonmadness.

Broken Arrow 02-13-2006 07:22 PM
I always thought his name was Leper Messiah which made me think it was a Metallica referance. Oh well, not that big of mistake.
Yeah same.

My iTunes went all nuts so now I have to re-update my iPod which will take a good hour and a bit and it didn't even let me choose what albums it'll let me have on it. No Abbey Road. :(

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-13-2006 07:37 PM
WelcometotheMachine, I have Rain Dances (on mp3). I want Mirage and Moonmadness.
Is Rain Dances one of the albums that guy is going to send out? if its not, could you upload it please?

Lunch 02-13-2006 07:40 PM

I think so, because I think he uploaded it at an earlier point for people on MX.

robo2448 02-13-2006 07:43 PM

Did anyone else download the Killing Floor albums? Pretty sweet blues-rock with some great harmonica, guitar, and piano playing. This stuff rocks. I have Out of Uranus:naughty: and the 1st part of their debut.

jpj, did you download the Moving Sidewalks? Pretty good stuff.

np: Killing Floor- Nobody By My Side

Edit- jpj I downloaded Arcturus but haven't listened to it yet. Isn't the fabled Garm their lead singer? I know everyone in the community thread really loves Garm. But I might be confusing them with some other band.

jpj 02-13-2006 07:45 PM

Just out of curiosity, did anyone have the balls to download the Arcturus album I sent out?

Lunch 02-13-2006 07:47 PM
Just out of curiosity, did anyone have the ovaries* to download the Arcturus album I sent out?
Fix'd lol.

Robo I downloaded the Moving Sidewalks album and I thought it was really good, even though you weren't talking to me. I just downloaded the Earthen Vessel, which I have yet to listen to.

MidnightRider 02-13-2006 07:58 PM

I downloaded the Moving Sidewalks, haven't listened to it yet though.

NP: Pink Floyd - San Tropez (Great song when you're chillin')
