Sticky it please.

I'd suggest getting rid of the stars on Official threads, just because they look ugly. >_>

Riva 08-14-2005 06:25 PM

Just like they do on the users. <_<

Iai, what's the basic layout of your comp? For interest's sake...

As in, how many rounds, etc, can we expect?

Iai 08-14-2005 06:28 PM

What do you mean?

Abit harsh, me thinks?

SonorKen 08-14-2005 06:47 PM

My only concern about dumping the official tags and the ***'s is it won't attract the attention of newer members. Im worried it will create more problems.

Iai 08-14-2005 06:50 PM

It's a shame mods can't make tags work on thread titles.

Thats right! No need to dump the official thingy

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-14-2005 07:18 PM

Riva- I didn't mean delete the existing threads and start over. I just meant change the names of the smaller ones. The PF one is quite large, compared to say, the Slipknot and Dream Theater ones.

Ken- There are succesful band threads that aren't official, like the Porcupine Tree, Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, and System of a Down threads, and there are about the same(if not less in some cases)number of threads created about those bands. I think we should at least give it a week trial on some of the threads. If you would like, I'll go through the rules threads and grab links to all the officials with less than a X number of posts. Just give me a number, and I'll get you the links. :)

If it's related to A7X it's not really illegal to post a drum tab in there. Just like people often post guitar tabs in the Gilmour thread.

If he is out and out asking stupid questions, then ban him.. But if he is just discussing something, don't stop a fairly on-topic convo.

Follow The Reaper 08-14-2005 08:26 PM

He was asking how to play that part.

Riva 08-14-2005 08:31 PM

Jeez, FTR, you are way out of line reporting him. He asked a fairly on-topic question about drumming, and then asked a question about playing a drum part. I just read the past 4 pages of that thread, and you are way too hypocritical, e.g. Calling someone a spammer for a double post, while making a double post yourself. If someone is annoying you, you can't request a ban for a decidedly borderline infringement.

Six Foot Revolver 08-14-2005 08:31 PM
He was asking how to play that part.
I am pretty sure that is fine in a a7x thread and even if it isn't it is hardly worth a ban.

Just plain bad, and pointless.

We might need a Gigantour thread too because there's three on this page including mine.

Also with a link to my review at the top of the thread :thumb:

Chu 08-15-2005 12:18 AM

Hey, this guy just came into the Metallica thread and simply said "metallica sucks" now I have nothing against his opinion, it's just, is there really need for it?

http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9187621&postcount=25699

Although, there's not much productive talk in the Metallica thread, I don't think people should just come into a thread and bash the band like that, without at least giving a reason for their opinion.

Nope, I agree, and it is against the rules. He has 3 days to think about it. Thanks for reporting it.

If he would have said, "Lars sucks", it would have been totally different tho and I wouldn't have banned him.

I KEED I KEED!

MBS 08-15-2005 12:24 AM

It's an R&M rule that if you go into a thread and bash the band without giving reason behind it, that guy will probably get banned.

Yup, your correct, he is already banned.

Chu 08-15-2005 12:26 AM
If he would have said, "Lars sucks", it would have been totally different tho and I wouldn't have banned him.
Oh, I wouldn't have had a problem with that

haha you left out the I KEED I KEED part! Now everyone is going to think Im a Lars hater!!

That's why I made my failed Official Concert thread :'(

It wasn't around at the right time I guess.

Supposedly there's no such thing as Flamenco metal so there's the link if you wanna close it.

Couldn't this go in the Death Heads Thread?

Moses 08-15-2005 01:10 PM

So could the Death, Scream Bloody Gore thread. Death metal can go anywhere so let it go. Otherwise that's being too anal.

Static 08-15-2005 01:15 PM
So could the Death, Scream Bloody Gore thread. Death metal can go anywhere so let it go. Otherwise that's being too anal.
Ahh, you're right. I just thought it wasn't really smart to make a completely new thread about it.

Stoic 08-15-2005 02:45 PM
I would prefer a seperate thread that will provide further details on each series. For example what is each series about, what day they are usually posted or anything else the authors might want to say.

However, since the mods arent fod of more stickies a seperate post will be ok. The point is though that many people dont know that in the rules thread there are other things besides the rules so they dont check it out.

I thought I should bring it on again since I didnt get a reply the first time.

Lately I've been getting the impression that people miss FAs that might interest them simply because there's not a standard place where links are gathered.

Here's what I've been collecting for almost a month now, please tell me if I miss something.

I like that you're doing this. It would be cool to put a link in the rules to this post, if you want to keep it updated. IMO at least.

Im pretty sure you missed the Official Beatles thread!

SonorKen 08-15-2005 03:19 PM

Thanks for all of your work on this Stoic. I changed the name of the official rules thread to Rules and Links to attract more people.

Additionally, if you keep a list of all the links I'll keep them updated in the rules.

Again, thank you for your help.

Im all open for suggestions on how to attract people to the Rules and Links thread btw.

Hey Ken: August is the eighth month of the year, not the ninth :p

Agitator01 08-15-2005 03:34 PM

Ok, I will delete this post as I do with all my others but why do I have -600 rep now? This is really getting old lol

It was 88, then it went to -59, then -79 yesterday it wen't to +32 now its -600

Is this being caused by a playfull mod who likes to humour me, or is it a glitch?

Syncratic 08-15-2005 03:36 PM
Hey Ken: August is the eighth month of the year, not the ninth
I noticed that too. I was confused, cause my birthday is the fifth, I was befuddled.
