Kaizers Orchestra

I listened to a recomendation from allmusic for probably the first time, and I'm glad I did. I love this. It's a band from norway that allmusic compairs to artists like tom waits, nick cave and the bad seeds, morphine, radiohead... but it reminds me a lot of world/inferno friendship society.

So far I love what I've heard.

sketchyjoe 08-29-2005 10:14 AM

If they're like W/IFS I'll have to check them out.

asdf 08-29-2005 10:17 AM

Well there's just something about them that reminds me of world/inferno. They have kind of a darker sound to them... and it's not in english.

Still, check them out.

A while back I saw a list of Tom Waits' favorite albums, and Ompa Til du Dør was one of them. That's when I decided to hear it and fell in love.

That's the album that I wanted to hear more, but it's taking forever to download. I'm listening to Evig Pint right now and really enjoying it, though. I'm going to have to buy an album. It's going to be difficult to track down, though.

Zappa 08-29-2005 10:26 AM

I uploaded it in YSI probably not a week ago. Go see.

EDIT: I've decided to link you; http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9324745&postcount=8552

Such an accurate name for that album. Clutch'd be so good to see live.

Happymeal 08-29-2005 05:19 PM

Sparklehorse
Yo La Tengo
Jesus Lizard
Nobody

I'm starting to appreciate these bands a lot more now.

The NPC 08-29-2005 06:01 PM

It was an Embrace day.

Tangy zizzle 08-29-2005 06:05 PM

Today will be a day for:

The Sultans
Mountain Goats
Dimmer
Ben Harper
Mudhoney
The Fauves

OrbDragon 08-29-2005 06:08 PM

Things I want to look deeper into:

The Avalanches (have been too lazy to get Since I Left You, will get it soon)
Sade (I love her voice...want all her albums. No compilations)
Lambchop (supposed to be really cool)
Spoon (I downloaded "Sister Jack" and "I Turn My Camera On"...salivating for more of this)
Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway
Kozelek is an amazing songwriter. If you enjoyed Sun Kil Moon you really should pick up some Red House Painters.

Today:

Kanye West
Neu!

I was pretty darn sure that no one liked them.
I was pretty darn sure that no one liked them.
I quite enjoy them. They're not fantastic, but a solid and rather fun band.

Little Man being Erased 08-29-2005 06:44 PM

All I can think of when I hear their name is that song they had about dogs or something.

6Stringer 08-29-2005 06:45 PM

Today I'm getting this strange feeling of wanting to listen to Cake. It all started when I woke up and "The Distance" started playing in my head.

asdf 08-29-2005 07:56 PM

Now I'm listening to Mr. Bungle - California

I've been putting off listening to this CD again, even though I love it so much. Then "pink cigarette" came up on random play, and I had to listen to it all.

Tangy zizzle 08-29-2005 08:09 PM
I'm trying to listen to the first Suede album but I keep going back to Sun Kil Moon.
Much <3 for that album.

ATM 08-29-2005 08:22 PM

Nina Simone - My Baby Just Cares For Me

Tangy zizzle 08-29-2005 08:23 PM

That's nice dear.

Tangy zizzle 08-29-2005 08:47 PM

My baby can't talk yet, but sure when she can she'll express some kind of love toward me.

Robert Crumb 08-29-2005 10:40 PM

Suprisingly, I'm not listening to soul.

Oh you and Mr. Bungle.

sketchyjoe 08-30-2005 06:22 AM

The All Girl Summer Fun Band.

Iai 08-30-2005 06:26 AM

Wait....I thought you got your name changed to TheJackOfHearts? Or did someone just steal your avatar?

OrbDragon 08-30-2005 06:48 AM

Today I just got:

Avalanches - Since I Left You
R.E.M. - Automatic For The People
Sade - Promise
Cake - Fashion Nugget

They are good...all four of 'em...especially the Avalanches one. It's basically one huge mix on cd. Loving every second of it.

Iai 08-30-2005 07:03 AM

I never could get into that Avalanches record.

I'm on a Prince kick right now, having just come off a DFA 1979 one.
