I think your being too subjective with Trivium. I don't listen to it normally but I think it's decent for metalcore. The riffs aren't that bad, they have some kick to them. The solos are pretty good too. Besides the vocals there's nothing wrong with it.

Shadows 10-01-2005 07:18 PM

The solos are decent, but other than that I can't stand these guys in any aspect.

Taste_My_Scythe 10-01-2005 07:29 PM
Metal is one of those things that royally pisses off anyone who doesn't normally listen to it.
Yes...it's quite fun. :D

IheartSP 10-01-2005 07:34 PM

I piss my friends off with my metal too, but I try not to get them too mad cuase I wouldn't wanna listen to their alternative.

Shadows 10-01-2005 07:38 PM

I've been playing metal for my religion class at school. They all hate it, but I like it because they have to sit there and deal with it.

IheartSP 10-01-2005 07:38 PM

Go with some Mayhem :p

Shadows 10-01-2005 07:40 PM

Hahahaha...I was planning on playing Vital Remains - Dechristianize sometime. Stickin' it to the religious school system.

IheartSP 10-01-2005 07:40 PM

Are you forced to go there?

Shadows 10-01-2005 07:44 PM

Half and half I guess. My entire family went to this school, so it was kind of expected that I would. Although I'm not religious, I would rather go there than any other school around. I've got plenty of friends, and I can feel safe in this school, which is more than I can say for nearby public schools.

MRDuCran 10-01-2005 07:44 PM

I was in music class the other day at college and we had to bring in a cd so the class could analyse it. Pretty much everyone listens to light stuff like Hendrix or Jazz or emo, they were in for a shock when my friend put on Necrophagist then Bodom Beach Terror

IheartSP 10-01-2005 07:45 PM

I don't live in the city so public school isn't somewhere you'd get stabbed.

IheartSP 10-01-2005 07:46 PM

In music class the other day at my school we got to bring in a song with a mode. I went with Last December by Iced Earth, it's in E Phrygian.

But then again, isn't every song in a mode??

IheartSP 10-01-2005 07:54 PM

Besides Aeolian or Ionian he meant.

MRDuCran 10-01-2005 08:01 PM

Ah right, makes sense.
Searched Google images for Alexi Laiho, show only medium sized images, cause the avatars have to be 70x70 pixels, which sucks.
You could always just resize it.

MRDuCran 10-01-2005 08:14 PM
You could always just resize it.
Thats what I had to do anyway, the image i'm using now was 80x80.

MRDuCran 10-01-2005 08:44 PM

I just downloaded 2 Singery songs, The Bitch is Back and Spit on your Grave. Pretty fukkin' good I say.

Shadows 10-01-2005 08:47 PM

I always found Sinergy to be a bit disappointing. It's sounds like they tried to be more traditional power metal with female vocals. I dislike Kim's voice, and the guitar playing sounds like they're holding back.

IheartSP 10-01-2005 08:48 PM

I think Spit on Your Grave is an amazing song, but it's the only amazing one I've heard by them.

I just bought an album from the band Becoming the Archetype. They are seriously amazing.

I just got a new TV and computer mouse

I need to renew my WoW subcription, which I probably would be better off without.

MRDuCran 10-01-2005 08:54 PM

Yeah, I might have a go at learning it, it'll be a great workout for alt. picking, sweeping, tapping, and playing riffs in triplets.

We are similar. :)

WoW looks fun, but I thought it was more expensive than it was worth. I prefer to play battle.net for free.

Who is Becoming the Archetype?

It seems expensive, but it's worth it.

They are a kickass metal band with some metalcore traits. I'll upload some songs later probably.

Shadows 10-01-2005 09:02 PM

Lyrical themes = Christianity? Doesn't really sound like my thing, but I'm always open to new music. The genre = melodic death definitely appeals to me.

Haha, yeah. Trust me though, the lyrics are completely overpowered by pure metal.

Shadows 10-01-2005 09:07 PM

I could deal with that then. I could always use something uplifting to contrast my selection of anti-religious black/death metal. Shadows Fall can't be the only non-evil band I own.

loathed 10-01-2005 10:52 PM

can someone tell me what is the best melodic song that CoB has come up with?

IheartSP 10-01-2005 10:53 PM

Hmm...I think Downfall might be the most melodic CoB song, or Kissing the Shadows.

Shadows 10-01-2005 10:55 PM

I would say it's near impossible to say which CoB song is most melodic. Downfall I think is the most emotional though.
