Technical Ecstasy was the first Sabbath album I bought. I lent it ot my dad, and haven't got it back yet. Didn't really like it anyway.
|
What does everyoen think of Black Sabbath's first album? I'm thinking about buying, but I don't really feel like buying anymore repetitive riff albums. I heard The Warning and it seems pretty cool. Is it an accurate representative of the rest of the songs on the CD?
Black Sabbath is my favourite sabbath album, i love the bluesy feel to it. the most repetetive part of that album is NIB and song is great, the only let down i can think of is the title track its sooooooooooooooo boring until it picks up at the end |
I used to think that about the title track as well and I know someone else who thinks that, but its really grown on me so I love the whole thing.
|
The title track is not boring, are you crazy?
It's probably the heaviest song ever. |
Favroite Sabbath albums:
1. Paranoid 2. Heaven & Hell 3. Mob Rules 4. Black Sabbath 5. Live Evil |
Why does Paranoid have to be number 1? Oh well its your opinion not mine. I love Heaven And Hell though.
|
Paranoid = most overrated Sabbath album ever. (IMO)
Heaven and Hell my fave, but then again I am a total Dio whore :D |
And so you should be. In terms of talent and distinction hes up there with Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson. The only real difference is his range isnt as good but he more than makes up for it with sheer power.
|
Up there with rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson? thats two different ends of the scale you have there mate :p
|
Up there with rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson? thats two different ends of the scale you have there mate :p
If that implies Bruce is better than Rob your balls have seen their final hours |
No it implies that a half dead cat is better than rob halford
|
So there's a half-dead cat that's a better singer than Bruce?
/is unsurprised. :D I like BD's singing, and RB's incessant sreeching on later albums gets a tad wearing, but Halford's earlier output really showed his range and ability. Bruce wouldn't have matched it IMO |

Heaven and Hell my fave, but then again I am a total Dio whore :D
Yeah, me too. Dio owns all. But I really like 'Paranoid,' I've listened to other Sabbath albums with Ozzy and they're not the same. But that's only my opinion. |

Bruce wouldn't have matched it IMO
Halford has a much larger range for sure, but I prefer Bruce, not because I think he is more talented I just prefer his voice, and I can understand the lyrics when he sings. And to shadowstalker, yes I understand the differences in vocal ranges but that shouldnt really matter when comparing singers. |
All down to personal preference i suppose, afterall i know someone that loves cannibal corpse vocalists even though i think they are balls
|
Hehe notice how the Cannibal Corpse vocalists are called vocalists and not singers, theres a good reason for that.
|
Well this thread is dying again, it does that alot and then flourishes for a while and then dies of again. So lets discuss, Tony Martin, ill start by mentioning the new solo album. Does anyone have it?
|
No. I don't own any Tony Martin stuff.
Why does his name so not sound right for a metal singer? It sounds like a cheesy crooner from the 60s |
Apparently from a recent gig, he only played one song from his new album, with the rest being Sabbath songs, from all eras.
The songs I remember seeing from the review are The Law Maker, Odin's Court/The Battle of TYR/Valhalla medley, War Pigs, Children of the Sea, Paranoid, Headless Cross and The Eternal Idol. |
Yeah I heard that too, it was just for the sake of touring and the tour of the album is coming later(I think). I've always thought he could do a very good job of Children Of The Sea, never actually heard him do it though.
|
I want Martin's new album it sounds awesome from what i have heard
|
and I can understand the lyrics when he sings.
...and you can't with Halford. |
...and you can't with Halford.
I cant when he does that annoying high pitched thing |
Halford is easy to understand.
// I think I'm getting Seventh Star in my bundle of cd's from my parents for Christmas :) |
^Nice
And as Shadow Stalker said, I can understand Halford until he hits the higher pitches. |
I can understand him at all times. I have the lyrics.
:p |
Yeah I suppose lyrics help. I remember having trouble with Bruce on "Rime Of The Ancient Mariner" but since I read lyrics I understand it all now.
|
Any of you guys listened to Cathedral before?
|
Yeah. Forest Of Equilibrium is great, and any Sabbath fan should check them out.
|
And any fan of early Sabbath should also check out Lost Paradise and Gothic by Paradise Lost....
/blatant plug for criminally underrated band |
