Well, my parents are fine with it, but I don't know if they want to take me. I think my friend Craig is in Virginia as he often is on the weekends. Then I remembered my friend Gary, who is somewhat of a Deadhead. He also has an older brother, like old enough to drive us there, who would almost certainly be willing to go. So I try to call him, no one home. I checked on AIM, and he has an Away Message that says "gone to raliegh". I can't remember his cell phone number either. All I know is, if he's there and I'm not later tonight, heads are going to fly  :(

sigur ros is beautiful. theyre coming here soon but i cant go because i happen to be broke.

I <3 the intelligent, sharp users in R&M
So, there's this thread most of you probably haven't seen, the Good Songs By Bad bands thing. I was skimming through it, silently agreeing with some posts while laughing hilariously at others, when it got the thing about She Sells Sanctuary being The Cult's only good song. I haven't heard a lot of Cult, but what I've heard was great. I was going to reply, but HeavyRiva beat me to it. I quoted him, and then, partly to make up for an otherwise short post, and partly just for shits and giggles, I named some good song by bad band of my own.
http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11407556&postcount=59 In all honesty, I thought it was too obvious a joke, and that people would say something about it's general meh-ness. Oh, no. http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11407928&postcount=61 Not bad I guess, he just didn't realize it was a joke. No big deal. I'd make the same mistake. http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11407936&postcount=62 Jacaranda gets it of course, he knows I'm a CR nut and not that stupid. I knew after this post that everyone who didn't already would realize it was a joke. After both Jac and Riva have pointed it out, no one could possibly miss it, right? http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11423364&postcount=101 *sigh* I give up. R&M can waste away in it's own unwittingness. Sorry, I had to share this. It's really one of my personal favorite collective moments of my MX career. |
Did anybody get that Odin album? I think I might do that.
I was interested in hearing that one. I didn't download it because I only can be around my computer for so long and you have to wait like 70 minutes between downloads I think. I went for all the most psychedelic sounding stuff first...I'll start in with the harder prog type stuff later. I kinda feel bad though, that guys always threatening to close that site if people don't like post stuff on his blog...I probably would if I knew how. I'd just leave a jolly little message. Did anybody get that album I mailed out? |

Couldn't you just link us to the thread? |

Where's the fun in that? I just felt like making a long post or something... go to the thread then, dang kids and their internets... no respect... dang ol'... *zzz* |

If you wanted to make a long post, you could just reply to every post on the page, whether it's relevant to the current discussion at hand.
Couldn't you just link us to the thread? I just started downloading that Lyd album.
Yeah, me too.
Did anybody get that Odin album? I think I might do that.
VINTER GOD OF THE NORTH! \m/
Download the Bang! album, sounds like Black Sabbath.
Ok.
I just downloaded the first Jade Warrior album its reallly good, i recomend it to download. i ****ing love this site.
Sick.
The Kaleidoscope album is good, nothing terribly original really...it just sounds like your typical San Franish fuzzy psychedelic music, although apparently it's Mexican. I think I just sent out the Dark - Round the Edges part 1 album out. Someone tell me if it doesn't work or something edit - Woah, I'm on the first song on the Zodiac album, it sounds like The Doors with more sound effects, a real/good bass player, and a sitar! The poetry even sounds like Morrison.
I didn't read this either.
I just downloaded The Growing Concerns. It's pretty good. San Francisco pop folk psychedelia. Good trippy stuff.
I like trippy.
I've already downloaded Dark - Round the Edges part one, Kaleidoscope s/t part one, and Complex s/t part one. All of them have two parts, but I figured I should download just one part to see if I like them. They are all great albums, I'm actually just on the second song of the Kaleidoscope album...but it's good so far. If anyone wants to like download the second parts to those albums, we can do a trade! I haven't tried uploading anything for a long time using YSI, but I could try, and I'm pretty sure my AIM works fine. I am very very impressed by the Dark album, it sounds like a cross between Sabbath and Floyd with more San Fran sounding vocals, they sometimes actually sound kind of like Ian Anderson on the Aqualung album for some songs. I'm downloading The Zodiac - Cosmic Sounds right now. And did I mention that when I'm in Maui for spring break, there's gonna be a music festival for Earth day, headlining (from what I've heard so far) is Willie Nelson, Jack Johnson and Ben Harper. My mom said she could get tickets if I wanted. I'm excited now.
I'm Hawaiian. My dad is from Maui.
Chris Robinson (from the Black Crowes), Larry Campbell, Mookie Siegel, John Molo, and Barry Sleiss. If I clear my cookies will rapidshare let me download the second half of the Complex album instead of waiting 67 minutes?
It should. |
Wow, kudos for that post.
I have a choice now, Odin or The Zodiacs, who to download? |
I demand uploads.
Ok, I only have two songs by them, but I don't mind because that actually means it'll be shorter to upload! Ahaha. E-mail adresses, now, for anyone who wants Godspeed songs. In return, an album I've been wanting for a while is Electric Warrior by T. Rex. If anyone has that and could send it out, that would be amazing. |
Touche, MBS. Hehe, kinda sounds like PMS... hehe...
Does anyone else in here play World Of Warcraft? I've had an account for a while, but I never got really into it until recently. It's so addictive, honestly the most addictive game I've ever played. I'd like it if some people came to my realm, but I won't whore my information like some... information whore. *cough* Duondum, Lvl. 16 Dwarf Paladin, Realm: Firetree *cough* By the way, if you don't like excessively long, quote-filled posts, never go to the Politics forum... *shudder*... |

Ya, post rock is alright I can never finish a whole album or even a song for the most part because of interuptions which then make me feel like changing to a more fast paced song or because I fall asleep. And log at MBS. |
I have () by Sigur Ros, Happy Music for Happy People by Mogwai, Those Who Tell The Truth..., The Earth is not a Cold Dead Place, and How Strange, Innocence by EitS. I have F#A# Infinity, Lift Your Skinnny Fists like Antennas to Heaven, and Yanqui UXO by Godspeed You! Black Emperor. If anyone wants some of the post rock, I can YSI it, or (preferably) send it over AIM. My screen name is DeusExMachina107.
I could YSI
Yes plz. So, who wants the Godspeed songs already? Edit - NVM, I found everyone's adresses from an old e-mail in my inbox. |
I'm interested in hearing the Godspeed. I listened one time and it was interesting, nonetheless.
Woodstock, go with the Odin. Bigtrav, I used to play WoW but got bored of it pretty quickly. NP: Cream - I'm So Glad |
Excellent album EMH. I recently pulled that out of my closet, from awhile back.
Wilco is coming in a couple months. B.B. King is tomorrow night! :) Captain Trips is so interesting. After Workingmans and American Beauty, they needed a manager, so they decided to have Mickey Hart's dad be manager, but in the end, he took $10,000 and screwed the band over. Pretty much why he left at that time. :o |
I'm interested in Godspeed too. PLease
|
Did anybody get that Odin album? I think I might do that.
 I did, its really good. So i just got back from seeing Final Destination 3, its pretty good, but has a LOT of gory scenes. |

Post Rock I have:
GY!BE-Lift Your Fists..... GY!BE-F#A# Mogwai-Young Team Mogwai-Rock Action Mogwai-Mr. Beast Mogwai-Happy Songs For Happy People Thickasabrick, thats sweet news about that concert and no I didn't get the email. |
And log at MBS.
Huh? I just watched Kill Bill Vol 1 again. Good movie. |
I don't like the Kill Bill's. Those are the Tarentino movies I dislike..
:\ |
i'm not a fan of true romance. most of it stems from my hatred of christian slater. plus it seems dated now. and its not even that old. that is a flaw.
|
Peter Gabriel at the Olympics Ceremony was awesome. Definitally my favorite song of all time.
|
 What's an Olympics?
For those of you that care, I'm almost definitely going to that DSO concert \m/ It turns out my friend Gary and his family went to Raliegh to check on their grandfather who just had a quadraple bypass surgery (quadruple fucking bypass, and the doctor told him he had to stop moving around so much after the surgery. That guy is a MULE.) Anyway, his brother was already thinking about going tonight (how he heard about, I don't know, I happened to look on the Lincoln Theatre website. Guess he did too), so he can probably drive me and Gary there :D I can't wait. |
What's an Olympics?
The Olympics, you know, the games. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympics |
I like True Romance! It's so action packed!
I really like this new Cream bootleg I have. It's them live at Oakland, CA. A couple of the tracks from this show (White Room, Politician) were released on Live Cream Vol. 1, I think. It's very good quality. |
Hey guys, Heart of Gold, the Neil Young movie came out yesterday. I want to see it, but the closest listing is on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, and I don't feel like driving out there.
|
Ok so when I try to download the files from that site it won't work for me because WMP can't recognize .rar files or something. So should I get something to convert them or would it be better to get Itunes or something?
|
So I'm going to my CD store later today, and this is what I'm looking for:
Camel ELP Grateful Dead Gryphon King Crimson Yes So is there any other bands I should keep a look out for, similar to any of those I listed?? |
If you want some good prog, be on the lookout for Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick.
