Haha. YOU WANT A PIECE OF ME, BOOYYYYY?
My friend constantly quotes stuff like that and it makes me laugh. My other friend wrote an entire song about Starcraft and it's hilarious. |
"All your base are belong to us."

I feel like the biggest idiot right now. I'm making supper for my family, and I turn on the oven to the proper heat and then when it beeped to tell me it was done, I set the timer and left leaving the food needing cooked on top of the stove. 15 minutes later I go downstairs look in the oven and there was no food. I look on the stove and I totally forgot to put it into the oven. So now supper is delayed 15 minutes. I have to go and tutor a kid tonight so it better not make me late.
|
You tutor?
I never would have imagined. |
I seem to have walked into the middle of a Starcraft nerd convention
|
You tutor?
I never would have imagined.
Math:cool:. There's a kid in my math class who has a failing mark and he found out I had a 93% and he asked if I would tutor him. I said I wasn't doing it for free and I get $8 an hour doing it. You couldn't imagine me as a tutor? |
Jon, recommend me some good acoustic music please.
|
1. I always forget to put stuff in the microwave before i turn it on.
2. Starcraft is cool (Red alert is waaaaay better though) 3. MY BAND MADE A RECORDING!!!! But theres no vocals, part of the song isnt done, and i dont have it on this computer. |

Kevin Devine A Farewell To Arms Superstitions Of the Sky Time And Distance Mike Park Matt Skiba has an acoustic split that isn't bad. The Lyndsay Diaries The Spill Canvas Bandits Of The Acoustic Revolution All the acoustic bands I know that are worth mentioning. (Read: Not Dallas Green's acoustic stuff) |
Thanks.
I downloaded some of Dallas Green's acoustic stuff last night. I didn't think it was bad. |

What type of music do you play anyway?
I personally think we sound 'taking back sunday with one guitarish', if you like that stuff (or get what im trying to say). Like i said numerous times before in here, my guitarist writes the same rhythm into the same 2 chord progressions and it sounds like streyu, which i simply cannot have in a band im a part of. The song itself is awesome, though uncompleted. Im thinking about not adding in the extra part. The song is already about 2:30, so its not like its too short. Now all we need is a singer, which might end up being me. The recording quality is surprisingly good for just a compputer microphone. You can hear every part clearly. |

TBS aren't a band I'm hugely in love with, but I do enjoy them. I recently made a recording of my band playing 2 songs back-to-back in band practice, on a small dictaphone. I was impressed by how good it's ended up sounding on that. I can YSI it if you fancy a listen? |

Yeah, if you turn down the bass on your computer microphone and turn it away from the amps and drums, everything sounds fine. The day we recorded the song, we werent a band for a few minutes. My guitarist (el assh0le) said 'nobody's going to buy it' when i was working on one of my songs. He corrected himself and said 'i mean, nobody will like it'. I told him that i dont care if anyone likes it, i care if we like it. If someone else likes it and buys it, that just makes it better. Then he said nobody will ever like anything i make because 'its all sh'it". So i got pissed and threw his keyboard and said 'Fuc'k it, i quit'. Then nobody said anthing for a few minutes. Then he broke the ice and said how we only play stuff that i make. THe only reason we do this is because everything he makes are just incoherent ideas, and just differnt rhythms to the same progression, and i make full songs. /end rant |
Guys...my badass beard...isn't so badass anymore :(

I have trouble writing full songs.
I can usually get a nifty chorus and what not, but then I can't think of a verse to go with it (or vice versa). Plus I usually hate using verse/chorus structure (generally makes music boring and predictable, if you ask me). Problem is I can't think of enough stuff to fill three minutes without repeating. |
I think the only solution to that problem is to join a hardcore band. Then you can write songs that don't even last two minutes, and you won't be doing anything unusual. ;)

/is trying to make a hardcore band currently Jon: You just suck at writing music, that's your problem :) |
I want to be in a band, but first I have to learn how to play guitar. I'll probably be in a band in a couple years though.

Good ranting++, sir. That's the way to handle maverick guitarists.
(edit - to cobert) I had an hour long MSN argument with my bassist about whether we should play this gig we've been offered on Thursday. The situation is this: We have 2 fully written songs, one of which could use a bit of polishing and tightening (these are the two on the recording). Then there's another song which is still an acoustic demo, and has promise but will need work to become a full song. Then there's two covers, both of which we all know but neither of which we've played together since about March. To top it off, we can only practice on Wednesday evening and Thursday before the gig. My bassist thinks that's plenty of time and we should definitely play whatever, whereas I think we'll have to rush and end up really sloppy. I think our live debut at a proper gig (as opposed to a house party which we did earlier in the year) should be well-polished and more likely to be enjoyed and appreciated by the crowd. |

The 2 songs i made that do have choruses....i might take the chorus out of one (or add a second part to the verse before the second chorus), and the other has a really short fast chorus. |

I would if I could, dude. It'd just be a XxXBREAKDOWN ATTACKXxX |

No! Don't learn guitar, learn drums. Or bass. Guitar = everyone plays. James: I'd say go for it. My band got together two weeks before our first gig and we were well received. |
