Let's try to have a productive discussion maybe, haha.
You traitor.

Seriously though, 90's music is incredibile. Pearl Jam, Rage; when you look past some of the junk, I'd say that a very high percentage of 90's stuff was great. Much better than the 80's in my opinion.
I saw you liked Pearl Jam and I noticed your gay.
Seriously Pearl Jam blow. They are right up their with Nirvana and Soundgarden for me. Grunge is a big pile o'crap, the only band I even slightly like is AiC and the Pumpkins, who I like a lot. Grunge is the crap hole of music me thinks, my friends always say Glam is worse but I think Glam is 1000x better then Grunge which... ugh words can't describe my distaste.
NP - Some Wolf Parade song, arg MX/iTunes/allmusic is pissing me off. MX won't load on and off, iTunes is taking forever to convert songs and allmusic is just being wish washy.
Today was awesome, my friends parents weren't home so we HB'd his garage. I had my cds with me so I pulled out Piper at The Gates of Dawn and put it on. Most of my friends listen to like Nickleback, so they thought it was really weird and made me turn it off after Bike. :(

NP: Smashing Pumpkins - 1979

And someone is NRMOTM...
They were smart in that decision.

:p

I saw how open minded you are and noticed I was lying.

It's hard for me to really say PJ is a grunge band. They really tackle a lot of diffrent styles, and while a lot of their popular work does employ the grunge-ish, fuzzy sound, they have made some wonderful acoustic tracks like Off He Goes. The songwriting and lyricism is so good.

MBS 02-07-2006 08:55 PM

Wasn't Pearl Jam the band where the guy sung with marbles in his mouth?

JonG 02-07-2006 09:01 PM

That's what Mick Jagger sounded like at the Super Bowl.
Has anyone here heard the Who song Pure and Easy? I love the lyrics to that song everytime I hear it I wonder what Lifehouse could have been.
I was never all that impressed with the Lifehouse idea. I appreciate Townshend's ambitions, but really it couldn't have worked, considering how high he was aiming. A good effort, but I couldn't have seen it happening for them.

I've really been digging Paperhouse by Can lately.

magicbus 02-07-2006 09:40 PM

Did you guys see Dr. John doing the star spangled banner? I forgot about him. Too bad the singers were fat and weird.

And then Stevie Wonder rocked "Superstitious". That song is so crazy good. And when Jeff Beck does it it's even cooler.
Did you guys see Dr. John doing the star spangled banner? I forgot about him. Too bad the singers were fat and weird.
That was cool. I asked my dad who it was. Too bad it was as bad as I have ever heard Aretha.

Jacaranda 02-07-2006 09:42 PM

Aretha Franklin?!!?! and ... Neve something or something, um darn forgot the guys name

JonG: shove it.

Aaron Neville. At first I thought he was Aretha. Anyways, they both sounded pretty meh.

Um, Nirvana may have sucked, but Soundgarden and Pearl Jam are actually really good bands. Black Hole Sun ftw.

Shane MacGowan ftw!

There is something in Chris Cornells voice that drives me insane, and Pearl Jam are just boring and well really boring, not to mention Eddie has a case of the not being able to sing.

thickasabrick 02-07-2006 11:26 PM

Bike is a sweet song, but I love all of PATGOD. The other day me and my friends started dancing around while we were listening to The Gnome. At first it seemed all normal and everything and we were just grooving along and then I think we all slowly realized how weird it would look if somebody saw four guys dancing strangely in a garage to a song about a gnome. And for some reason I dance in slow motion a lot, people have started telling me it looks funny.

Actually I thought Mick was the only bright spot in that performance. Keith and Ron sounded very flat to me. Though that could've just been the stadium accoustics.:-/

Lack of phrasing and emotion maybe??

PinkFreud 02-08-2006 12:41 AM

no way. he has great emotion. especially in temple of the dog and his solo stuff.

he's definitely my favorite vocalist. even above buckley.

well I just can't feel it from him... I find his style bland, but he does have great vocal ability.

Seafroggys 02-08-2006 01:15 AM

does anyone have any idea when the drumming competition will start?

Leper 02-08-2006 01:23 AM

I haven't heard anything about it since Ydload made a thread asking when it would be.

PinkFreud 02-08-2006 01:29 AM

moses is still counting votes. it takes a long time.

Jacaranda 02-08-2006 07:13 AM
Lack of phrasing and emotion maybe??
That'd be it, his work with Soundgarden has some emotion, but then I hear Audioslave and it feels just so forced.

PinkFreud 02-08-2006 10:58 AM

i rank him above buckley simply because i LOVE his tone. and i listen to him just to hear what he can do with his voice. i don't even like soundgarden that much but i have a ton of their albums because of him. his work with temple of the dog and his solo album both have a lot of emotion. granted, his work with audioslave isnt spectacular, but everyone had sky-high expectations anyway. there was no way that they would have lived up to the hype.

magicbus 02-08-2006 11:34 AM

I'm listening to TRY! right now. This is sweet, and "I Got A Woman" is awesome.

That\'s such a great CD. Another Kind of Green is probably my favorite

ATM 02-08-2006 01:51 PM

Cornell over Buckley?

If I had to put any 90's singer up with Buckley, it would be Lanye Stanley :p
