I'm sorry but I had mention how mathematically false that statement was.

Night DFIA.

For the record, I coined that nickname. :D

 Irish, I know...but the mathematician in me wouldn't let it slide. ;)

Heh, thanks cliffburton. I really do give them out rarely...strange this is people are actually excited when they get them.

Not to brag but I know I'm a big poster and one of the most respected on here. I realized it a little while ago and couldn't put my finger on when exactly it happened. A few months ago, WM and I (Aug '03 members) were talking about when we were n00bs. Now he's a supermod. :p

Wow, if you rub the ridged edge of a dime on the high E of an acoustic guitar you get a strange satanic screaming noise. It's creepy.

You're better than me in math I think, so you probably have when I was talking about calculus one time or another.

Nylon or steel strings? I did it on both and I found steel to be wicked eerie (I didn't have a pick on me so I used a dime).

I usually carry picks in my pocket and wallet now. :p

I still don't use picks for bass, though. I'm a fingers guy. I like the tone better and can go faster and more accurately.

I didn't know he was a super mod I just thought he was a mod.

I remember my first totally n00b comment.

I called Steve Harris Adrian Smith but that because of false information given to me by my dad. My main rule in these forums is just not to piss people off. It works fine. :thumb:

Same here steel strings.

And I have one or two picks lying around the house but I never use picks on a bass.

My first post in MX was in the pit flaming a non-God believer.

After I discovered that there are more Aetheists than people with religions here I decided to shut up on that topic as much as possible.

bottlerocket 02-27-2005 09:58 PM

My first post was a thread...

"Who's better...Flea or Freeman?"

 I was SUCH a n00b. I even claimed I could play the MM solo. :upset:

He got flamed so bad I haven't seen him since.

Yeah, I'm a pretty devout Catholic but I refuse to bring my religious ideals onto MX. This is a bass forum, after all. I only talk about it if someone has a question on it, but I don't push my ideas onto anyone. I hate that kinda stuff.

I don't run around saying "REPENT! CONFESS YOUR SINS! FALL BEFORE THE LORD'S POWER!"

Did you know there's an aethiest church in Texas?

Step back and think about that for a minute...an aethiest church. What do they do there? Do they show up and say, "Yeah, there's no god...same time next week guys? OK, later."

Irish, was it you that told me the speed of light was no longer constant? Some scientist shot light through superheated argon gas and it went a lot faster or something?

Any new developments on that?

Sorry dude, I'm about to prove you wrong.

It's "rep--" and it's correct.

It comes from programming languages using ++ and -- to increment and decrement a value (usually a loop counter) as an operator. This being the magical intarweb, lots of the users are programmers and/or huge nerds, so they adopted this notation when speaking of things in such a fashion that a value was going up or down, like geekdom++ or spelling--

:thumb:

cliffburtonrules 02-27-2005 10:08 PM

Great now you guys are gonna start talking science and I'm gonna get lost.

EDIT: to Gav

cheesepuff 02-27-2005 10:11 PM

And the speed of light being 3.0x(10)^8 m/s is the speed of light in a vacuum, so that's still constant.

bottlerocket 02-27-2005 10:11 PM

^ Tim Armstrong? His voice is raspy but it's perfect for their music and style, I think. They ARE the California punk scene.

The East Coast punk scene revolves around street punk bands, like the Virus and The Casualties. I'm not a big punk rock fan, but I know the music scene around here. It's mostly hardcore music.

This is literally what it's like around here. Every "scenester" is like this:
http://www.mis-one.com/videos/Scenesucks.mov

The sad thing is that it's dead on. Everyone talks like that, dresses like that, acts like that, practices their "hardcore dancing," etc. It's awful, really. :p

I used to be like that for about a month. Then I got my balls back and now I'm me.

Do you know what this means? There's some other constant out there. It can't be time because time bends with black holes and such.

It can't be space because space has different curves (Einstein proved it).

WHAT THE HELL IS CONSTANT?! If nothing's constant then all of modern physics is shot to shit!

:thumb:

Sweet, my first gav point. Haha, I understand that, but the deal is that using a+b performs a mathematical operation, but doesn't change anything, and a way was needed to be able to increment and decrement like I said before, but yes, it is mathematically false.

The speed of light wasn't really changed, for all practical purposes, it's still the same, but under unnatural circumstances they were able to accelerate a photon beyond what was previously perceived to be its terminal velocity, which is ridiculous.

irishslappop 02-27-2005 10:18 PM

hehe check this out gav:

rep=x
neg rep= -x
-x+(exsiting rep)= lower rep then before
-x-(exsiting rep)= the negitive difference...

ex.

-2+6=4 (hence neg repped)
-2-(6)= -8

owned

irishslappop 02-27-2005 10:20 PM

seriously dude, but your right about time ans space, worm holes and blacj holes bend time, and normal gravity bends space.

 maybe if string theory is correct, somewhere in the hidden 16 aditional dementions there is a constant

You're saying I'm right about time and space?

And the string theory is crazy shit. I crapped my pants when I heard it. It's such an amazing theory it almost makes me want to believe it.

Another fun fact: It's something like 34 forces that constantly act on any given object of matter in Earth's atmosphere above the crust. I forget what they all are...I think the object has to be on a surface, though.
