Wow. That has to be one of the most logical ways of looking at it. I've never really heard anything quite like that...I've heard plenty of your typical "Yeah, god is fake" and whatever, but that is just...I dunno..A good way of looking at it.

I edited my post in the Tool thread
Oh, and by accepting it is there means that it is there as a creation of man-kind. Like a microwave oven. Its there.

I think it's ridiculous to say Religion is being shoved down our throats when public officials can't even wear symbols of their religions, or put symbols of their religions in their workplace. Atheism is getting shoved down our throats, and it's **** obvious. The whole seperation of Church/State thing is being grossly misinterpreted, it was supposed to mean that NO Religion should run the Government, like NO National Religion, now if you publicly display your Religion it's "shoving your views down peoples throats."
Then how come abortion, stem cell research, and gay marriage are under fire in this country? Because the Christian Church forbids all of them.

Touche, I missed gay marriage in my post, that's a biggie.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-30-2005 12:08 AM

Come on...I am not any kind of hard core Christian, but IMO, gay marriage is just...wrong. I know there are plenty of freedom issues and whatever, but this is beyond freedom. This is fucking with science. Men and women were designed to breed with the opposite sex, not the same sex. :-/
So that means you believe a god created us, or no?
Well, I don't know what to say in a public forum of which I moderate in this situation. I think I'll just say, I think alot of what people believe in is a creation of man, like a microwave.

That's not the issue at hand. The issue at hand is allowing to get married and get the legal rights married couples do. Gay marriage is not wrong in any way, shape or form and it doesn't even concern most people's lives. There is no reason to ban it. Not a single one. At least one that doesn't hinge on a notion of "right" or "wrong" as defined by religion. If it's wrong, how is denying them their rights as American citizens not?

SonorKen 04-30-2005 12:11 AM

My thoughts on gay marriage are, who cares. It doesnt affect me, if it makes someone happy so be it. I really havent put any thought into the whole gay marriage thing.

I do have a feeling the majority of my family will dis-own me when I release the CD I am making.

Illmatic 04-30-2005 12:15 AM

What's wrong with two men getting married? As long as they aren't hurting anyone*, I don't see why not.

"It's not about who you climb into bed with at night, it's whether you have a job to wake up for in the morning

* - don't give me the "oh, they're hurting society" bullshit. The only thing that hurts society is close-mindedness and bigotry.

Oh my, that is not just Christianity, that is ****ing immoral, I don't care about Gay Marriage, but a lot of people do, some who aren't even Christian. I care about ****ing abortion, people lie to themselves constantly, "It's not a person, it's a bunch of cells that was concieved that if given time will become a person, but if it isn't a person yet, then it isn't murder," that's basically like saying if the baby isn't born, it wouldn't have existed, and that's bull****.

The dictionary defines life as beginning at birth. The Catholic dictionary defines life as beginning at conception. That's not a Christian influence? Abortion isn't murder. Outlawing it could be.

1. Zepfan beat me to my first point

2. Either way, outlawing abortion will have the same effect Prohibition did on alcohol abuse, or the "War on Drugs" has had on drug use.

Read: It won't stop a damn thing.

As long as women are getting pregnant when they don't want to--which will be til the end of time--they will get abortions. And it's better that licensed doctors do it with the correct tools and anesthetic instead of some back-alley whackjob with a hanger.

Permanent Solution 04-30-2005 01:03 AM

If we do some good music I'll participate :p

SonorKen 04-30-2005 01:03 AM

Just cus your not talented enough to play it doesnt mean you have to dis it!

Permanent Solution 04-30-2005 01:05 AM

Carey is a good drummer. But as I would be playing guitar...pfft.

SonorKen 04-30-2005 01:08 AM

hahaha yea, well, Adams guitar lines are beautiful, the perfect example of how sometimes less is more. He plays where it counts and lets the music come through.

I guess the line up is Kage on vox, AdamJonesisGod on guitar, The Joz on bass, and me bangin the skins.

And Carey is a phenominal drummer. The **** he does blows me away and Ive probably been playing drums longer than youve been alive haha.

nah, it's just me alone, they would not OK something that ridiculous, we play more light hearted stuff, except for a few of our heavier songs.

Ehhh. Either way I think we can agree it's not too difficult :p

Really? Over 19 years? That's insane. He is very good though. As is the guy in Messhugah heh.
False reality, inspiring our deepest lamentations
A plague to thought, a lack of inspiration
A union of mind, body, heart, and soul
In self redemption on may become whole
In westbound darkness, death will rise
A doom in blood is one's prize
Never more than a whisper in the dark
No coward will dare to step from the dark

A knave that trails, tredding dark into the deep
A beast that revels in pain that sucks away sleep
Like wet ash it stalks one's mind in the late
A hidden demon, a symbol of hate
The threads of existance intertwine
Yet foolish assumptions, doom that of thine
The reaper, the death, a peril to quest
The all powerful touch, a peril to quest

Upon the end, the chapter of last
The shadow emerges from dreams of past
In the bloodfire, red scorched earth
The one with the union shall prove worth
Always doubt clouds one's mind
And always the failure is forced to bind
The demon can be vanquished, but only through belief
The dark can be purged, if only you hold to a belief

******

Heh, I feel so nerdy and cheesey, but this song is basically what I interpretted out of The Elfstones Of Shannarra by Terry Brooks, so bah.
Ok, couple of questions.

In line two, "A plague to thought, a lack of inspiration". Is that meaning that you feel you are a plague to your own thoughts or that Brooks is a plague to your thoughts?

In self redemption on may become whole
Is it supposed to be, In self-redemtion one may become whole?

Hmmm well man, no offense, I don't really like it. It seems over written and doesnt flow well. But, I guess since its death metal, structure doesnt really matter haha.
