Ever seen Armando Ianucci?

The Armando Ianucci Shows is my favourite comedy series of all comedy. He is probably the best writer alive.

Here's a clip I love from The Armando Ianucci Shows.

He also devised The Thick Of It, wrote Alan Partridge, did Armando Ianucci's Time Trumpet. Check that clip for some awkward comedy that is way better than Gervais in my opinion. Not to belittle Gervais, but Ianucci is just sublime.

Afternoon UK :D

Work was great today, it zooooooooooooooomed by. I won a cookie too >_<
Had college then walked to mum's and bought my first ice pole of the year. By god it was great. Well worth the wait from last summer.
Rush Hour came out on BBC3, which I was really excited about, because it was written by Charlie Brooker and had Adam Buxton (one of Britain's funniest comedians in my opinion) in it. Now Buxton's scenes were funny, and he does a great radio spoof, but as with a lot of sketch shows, the scenes got a bit too repetitive. The joke was coming but I just wasn't looking forward to it in the same way I look forward to say, a Fast Show gag.

I think understatement goes a very long way in comedy.
I couldn't watch that because the camera is always shaking about and it pisses me off.

I love Charlie Brooker's Screen Wipe. His defence of games on one episode made me feel proud to be a gamer. Plus a prank phone call he did concerning GTA is hilarious.

Them are 3 of my favourite genres

Bad music is - Anything remotely metal, i really have not found any of it i like

Dead Star 04-30-2007 02:11 PM

tbh I despise The Klaxons.

I'm not a huge fan of all this indie rave going on atm either, new indie bands bore me also.

But dance can be good sometimes. see: Daft Punk

Polyamarous 04-30-2007 02:14 PM

I feel sorry for the Klaxons, for they cannot compete against the awesome power of the smashing pumpkins.
I feel sorry for the Klaxons, for they cannot compete against the awesome power of the smashing pumpkins.
I will proberbly go and watch Klaxons, i dont care much for smashing pumpkins.

I can see the same situation happening this year, as last, a group of my mates tried convincing me to go see pearl jam, because even if i don't like the, you have to see them live, where's the fuking logic in that, if i don't like them then i dont want to go watch them do i, idiots, so i watched Maximo Park, who where brilliant and a very much enjoyed.

Replace the bands with the pumpkins and klaxons, and walla, this years situation will arise.

Dead Star 04-30-2007 03:20 PM

Pearl Jam were so immense live.

I didn't like them back then but seeing them live converted me.

2muchket! 04-30-2007 04:24 PM

Klaxons are good imo. But then again I love metal. But outta Klaxons and Pumpkins i'd rather see klaxons. Now if RATM were to play reading/leeds as they did coachella on sunday that'd be a different story.

Patrick O))) 04-30-2007 05:55 PM

That happened to me a few years back

There was White Stripes/Morrissey on the main stage (can't remember which. Doesn't really matter) and Mondo Generator followed by Mark Lanegan in the carling tent

My mate Dav's girfriend went to see whoever was on the main stage, so he left halfway into Mondo Generator, and Spencer never made it to the carling tent, his girlfriend was seeing the Main Stage too (she's one of these 'we can see from here' types. I have my misgivings ... ¬_¬)

Needless to say, I stayed :) one of the best live sets I've ever seen

Pastorius 05-01-2007 04:51 AM

Urgh, I cannot stand new rave bollocks.

Going to a club and seeing people dancing to the same songs week on week just really puts me off it. It annoys me when people defend them by saying "yeah but those are just the songs for the mainstream".

Just, seeing hundreds of sweaty morons singing along that "doo doo doo doo doo doo doo" song gets old very quickly. Like in 5 seconds.

2muchket! 05-01-2007 08:29 AM

You mean Golden Skans ?

Nu-rave is just a gimmick. I listen to rave and theres nothing rave like about s***disco or klaxons

Patrick O))) 05-01-2007 10:26 AM

What a GORGEOUS DAY!

I've thrown back the curtains and put some music on. In about half an hour, I'll be able to tan from my bed

Ooo, a romantic evening in with oneself, joy!

Untitled 05-01-2007 10:52 AM
