Already tried the Smiths, don't like 'em. :(

Kaleidoscope Eyes 02-04-2006 09:18 PM
I really like Syd's vocals on that album, although I don't remember how they sound on "Dark Globe".

I think my favorite songs on there are "Octopus", "Golden Hair", and "Terrapin".

EDIT: Yea, I can hear "The Wall"-ish vocals when he says "wouldn't you miss me at all". That's cool.
Those are my favorites too. Such a good album if you're in the right mood

Neither do I.

BigTrav415 02-04-2006 09:25 PM

Me and my friend have the greatest conversations.

BigTrav415: so, how did the arranged hits work out?
maul451: what arranged hits?
BigTrav415: dont play dumb
BigTrav415: the white knight taking care of *ahem* business
maul451: what, u been readin alice in wonderland or something?
BigTrav415: the irony is melting my face off
maul451: irony
BigTrav415: yes
BigTrav415: time and a word
BigTrav415: a midget with a broom guards bob weir's mansion at night
BigTrav415: so don't try to steal his munchies
maul451: but if u travel with elephants, the pack will guard its own
BigTrav415: words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup
BigTrav415: they slither wildly as they slip away across the universe
maul451: snakes can only circle, when the house is made from clay
BigTrav415: i am a man of constant sorrow
maul451: because the house is made of clay?
BigTrav415: i've seen troubles all my days
maul451: did you pay the piper, or did you tap the tune?
BigTrav415: whoa-oh, what i want to know, how does the song go?
maul451: scratch the lyrics before you take the chance of stage
BigTrav415: it's the same story the crow told me, it's the only one he know
BigTrav415: like the morning sun you come, and like the wind you go
maul451: flight in the stars sang the goddess above
maul451: where will you wander?
BigTrav415: through shadows, to the edge of night
BigTrav415: until the stars are all aligned
maul451: in deep or in darkness, still I am there
maul451: will you kindle the nova, or kill the starlight?
BigTrav415: cloudless everyday you fall upon my waking eyes
BigTrav415: inviting and inciting me to rise
BigTrav415: and through the window in the wall come streaming in on sunlight wings
BigTrav415: a million bright ambassadors of morning
maul451: the son of dawn did fall
maul451: where have we drifted?
BigTrav415: Oh Lucifer, Son of Morning!
maul451: was venus out the order, when the planets were aligned?
BigTrav415: what in the world ever became of sweet jane?
BigTrav415: she lost her sparkle, you know she isn't the same
BigTrav415: livin' on reds, vitamin c, and cocaine
BigTrav415: all a friend can say is "ain't it a shame"

That's not even close to the strangest either.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 02-04-2006 10:20 PM

Am I the only one here who thinks spaming is getting really out of control around here? We all spam to a certain degree but lately it's been getting really out of hand to the point where it's getting hard to post in here. I'm not going to list any names or anything but I think we all should start watching the spam.

How about we get a good topic going strong? What's everyone's favorite Bluegrass/Country/Country Rock album?

BigTrav415 02-04-2006 10:33 PM

/me stops my temporary spamfest

Hmm... I don't have a favorite actual album, I just like certain songs. I don't really even have a favorite artist, except maybe Earl Scruggs, just because he's a banjo god.

Really, I'm sorry I've been spamming, it just seems like no one is posting in here tonight compared to other nights, when it is usually so lively in here, plus the rest of the forums is blowing right now, and I guess I'm just bored :-/

If some people would come to the classicrock chatroom, I'd have someone to talk to :)

Broken Arrow 02-04-2006 10:37 PM

Haha, you the only one there?

My favourite country album, probably Unchained by Johnny Cash.

BigTrav415 02-04-2006 10:43 PM
Haha, you the only one there?
...no...well...:upset:

I need a social life, or at least something to do.

Johnny Cash is the man by the way. And does anyone else think Jerry Lee Lewis is pretty awesome? He was amazing on piano. I feel so bad that his career plunged when his marriage got out. She might have been young, but it wasn't like he was 40. Plus she wasn't even related to him that closely, it was like his second cousin, twice removed. They were related by marriage or something. I guess I just hate that he made such great music but he got pwned because he loved the girl he married and stayed with her.

Broken Arrow 02-04-2006 10:46 PM

I just downloaded the Soundtrack to Dead Man by Neil Young. It's ambient music haha. It sound effects with some random clips of the movie and the odd guitar note with delay. It's awesome though.

EDIT-in one song Jonny Depp reads part of the Doors of Perception by William Blake

Yeah he did. whoops.

He still nevermind I got it mixed up. I think Johnny Depp is William Blake in this movie.

Yep, got it for Christmas, it's incredible.

Jacaranda 02-05-2006 12:43 AM

Oh, don't bother with Oasis, just buy yourself another Beatles album.
Bluegrass - Alison Krauss - Now That I've Found You
Country - Brooks and Dunn - Waitin' on Sundown
Country Rock - Er, Exile on Main St., Let it Bleed ?

I don't really listen to old country, only new country so sorry Willie, Hank and Johnny. Plus I don't really like Johnny Cash that much any way. Ya, I know I'm <insert whatever here>.

Hank isn't that good.

My favorite blue grass group is a local act called the Piper Road Spring Band, they are good.

Jacaranda 02-05-2006 12:47 AM
Hank isn't that good.
I'd take him over Cash. I don't really like Cash at all sept for about 5 songs. Willie beats them both hardcore.

What is that one song with Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash and some other guys where they talk about likes sailors and stuff that died.

I live in Montana, its in my nature to like country music.
What is that one song with Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash and some other guys where they talk about likes sailors and stuff that died.
No clue I couldn't even tell you the names of my Willie Nelson albums. I don't think I can name many (if any) of his songs either. I just don't pay attention to country album names or song names, but I could probably sing almost all his songs!

Leper 02-05-2006 01:02 AM

Haha FINALLY I've found someone else that doesn't like Johnny Cash! It seemed like after he died suddenly you couldn't say a bad word about the guy without getting flamed for it.

PinkFreud 02-05-2006 01:41 AM

i just think he was a stone cold badass. and his mu sic was good.

my fdavorite country trock album is american beauty by the gwateful dead. i like it more than workingmans dead. country would be live at folsom prison. its got a freat atmosphere about it.

magicbus 02-05-2006 02:13 AM

For my favorite country/folk ablum, I'd say "Live at Folsom Prison" by Jonny Cash, "Palace of Gilded Sin" by Flying Burrito Bros., "On The Beach" by Neil Young, "Working man's Dead" by Grateful Dead, or "The Band" by The Band.

Yea, spam's getting reeeeeeeeeeeall out of hand. We should chill it out a little bit and stick to the music discussion. To a certain extent is alrihgt, but this is nuts. Consider it guys. Thanks bros.

NP: The Stooges - raw Power

Leper 02-05-2006 02:17 AM

I'd have to say my favourite Country/Folk Rock album is Neil Young- After the Goldrush.

I know you're all surprised.

MidnightRider 02-05-2006 09:51 AM

Bluegrass - Probably the soundtrack to O' Brother Where Art Thou.
Country - Hank Williams Jr. - Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound
Country Rock - The Allman Bros. - Eat a Peach

robo2448 02-05-2006 10:04 AM

Bluegrass- Leftover Salmon- The Nashville Sessions
Folk- Bob Dylan- Blood on the Tracks, Nick Drake- Five Leaves Left
Country- Johnny Cash- At Folsom Prison
Folk Rock- Bob Dylan- Highway 61 Revisited, Simon and Garfunkel- Bridge Over Troubled Water, The Band- The Band
Country Rock- The Grateful Dead- American Beauty/ Workingman's Dead/ Europe '72

Some of my favorites.

MidnightRider 02-05-2006 10:11 AM
Folk Rock - Simon and Garfunkel- Bridge Over Troubled Water
S&G are truly amazing. I remember the first time I heard Sound of Silence, I was blown away.

NP: The Dangling Conversation (My favorite of theirs)

Lunch 02-05-2006 10:33 AM

Workingman's Dead, NRPS s/t, The Band's s/t, and some early Dylan are probably the winners in this category for me.

Edit: And some S&G and maybe a Byrds album.

samo-zep 02-05-2006 10:38 AM
