Hey Jac, this question is kind of out of the blue, but why do you have like 3 other mx accounts? |
I'm not sure what you are talking about.

So after much thought I've decided that David Bowie is in my opinion the best single man to ever be involved in music, he also happens to be my favorite artist of all time. Hm, conspircy? |
He's your favourite artist of all time? I'm not saying that's a bad thing, because I love Bowie, but I just didn't expect that. But yeah, Bowie's really incredible. I've been hooked on Space Oddity for a good month now.
|
Well on an individual basis I think, it was very close between him and Keef and Perry Farrell though. I might be saying this because I haven't listened to the Stones for 2 weeks other then 3 songs today that I heard on the radio.
And I'm just full of surprises eh! |
*laughs*
That's all. |
Any of you hear the songs that David Bowie sung with the Arcade Fire at the Fashion Rocks festival recently?
|
Hello ev'rybody!
[Hi Dr. Nick!] So, I had an awesome dream last night. It started with me falling asleep watching O Brother, Where Art Thou. I was at school or something, and we were in the auditorium, and there were a bunch of little kids sitting on the stage, and apparently we were supposed to pick them to be our "buddies" (if you go to a K-12 school, you might know what I'm talking about, basically you have a younger buddy who you meet with at Buddy Lunches and stuff, it's kind of pointless, but it's fun if you have a cool buddy) Anyway, I just picked this random kid, and for some reason I had to go to his house, and he turned out to be Bob Weir's son! :amaze: and :D. And they lived in this enormous mansion, and we went 4-wheeling and stuff, and then overnight he had a midget with a broom keep guard in the dining room so no one would steal their food or try to kill them or anything  Pretty trippy dream. Not making any of it up either. Discuss awesome/freaky dreams, especially relating to the Grateful Dead and/or midgets. |
sorry jacaranda and leppermessiah. i drank little last night. and i just woke up for breakfast and i'm still a little tipsy so i think im gonna go back to sleep.

Buddy Holly is awesome. My dad has a compilation with all the songs he ever released. I'll admit that his songs don't have very much variation and can get a little old sometimes. But he's still awesome.
David Bowie is great. np- Stones- Let it Loose Speaking of the Stones, at my school, we have televised announcements in homeroom that say things like meetings after school and other info for the day like that. Anyway, the first couple minutes of the announcements are always video clips, usually of our school's sports games, but on Friday, they played a clip from the Rolling Stones Rock n' Roll Circus because the Stones are playing the halftime show. It was awesome. Except that there were kids wearing Rolling Stones shirts who didn't even know it was them. |

Woah, you have telivised anouncements? We just listen to our Dean ramble on and try to be funny. |

Yeah we have a small TV studio at our school. And there's a class that students can take called TV Production and part of that class is to do the announcements. Some of the students who do them are hilarious and make it interesting, others are just boring. And I've never had a dream about midgets or The Grateful Dead. Though I imagine it woud be pretty trippy. |
I remember the buddy system in elementary school, hehe. I had a friend in grade two who I read to and stuff. And we went to a park once.
Does anyone here like BNL? I got some of their albums a few days ago and I think they're quite good.
I love BNL. I've been listening to them since I was eight or nine years old...yeah, around there. I saw them live in December, I got tickets for my birthday. Good show. We have the same thing. Do you guys have Channel One News? |
We've got a TV in every classroom of my school, some have two. I think it's pointless, they show the same few announcements all week long..and half the time some annoying girl always changes it to MuchMusic or some jock always turns to football. That's the worst.
And I'm not a huge David Bowie fan, I have one or two of his better albums on vinyl but I don't listen to them all that often. |
We have a few TVs in our schools, none of them have actual TV on them their just for watching movies on.
BNL, I used to like 'em alot considering they used to be played on the radio alot because they're Canadian. I have a couple of their albums, pretty catchy music. |
Oh, Bare Naked Ladies. I didn't know who you guys were talking about. I like them, I have actually only heard like five or so songs...but I've liked all I've heard. I recall that their last batch of singles weren't all huge hits, I think MuchMusic/MTV etc might be their downfall...because these days it's really just all about image on those channels. The fact that BNL still write and play all their music doesn't seem to matter since they are all such a unpolished and relatively unattractive bunch.
|
we have TV's on every class room but rarely use them, the only time we use them is if our math teacher gets tired of teaching and wants to watch tennis.

Hit the nail on the head, unfortunately. It's really a pity, considering they have more talent than those douchebags in Simple Plan ever will  |

Heh heh cool, I remember in Elementary School we had a french teacher from Morocco for a while. We went through a few french teachers a year for some reason, but this guys stayed because we all loved him. Sometimes in class he would just be sitting there, and suddenly he'd be like "Let's go out and play soccer!!" and we'd all cheer and run out and play soccer all class. I also often saw him laying on the grass looking up at the clouds in the park at lunchtimes while I was walking back to school. And I always saw him naked at the local swimming pool, he seemed to have no shame...despite the awkward teacher/student relationship. How many different versions has everyone heard of Man of Constant Sorrow? I've only heard the O Brother Where Art Thou and the Bob Dylan versions, but I've heard there's tons. edit - I agree with you EMH, If I Had a Million Dollars is like a national institution for easy going acoustic songs. God that's a great song. The Barenaked Ladies definitely appear to be the most Canadian band I can think of, maybe it's because they aren't afraid to look or act like goofballs. Bands like Rush and Neil Young were so damn serious most of the time. |
I've heard those two and the one that they do at the crossroads gutiar festival. But that's the same two guys that did the soundtrack so I'm not sure if thqat counts.
The vocals in Dark Globe by Syd Barret reminds me of Roger Waters singing on the Wall. |
Thats cool Thiaskasabrcik, though i wouldent want to see my teacher naked at a pool.

I think my favorite songs on there are "Octopus", "Golden Hair", and "Terrapin". EDIT: Yea, I can hear "The Wall"-ish vocals when he says "wouldn't you miss me at all". That's cool. |
Madcap Laughs right? i used to have that but it got deleted off my computer.

Madcap Laughs is an awesome album, but I prefer Barrett more, simply for Effervescing Elephant. :)
|
I like The Madcap Laughs, specifically Golden Hair.
