But I've got friends that do it, and I can understand why they do. It's just something I don't see myself needing.
You and I think alike.

sketchyjoe 03-07-2006 07:43 PM
What's the high and mighty part? The part about not being able to shut the **** up? It probably is, but it's vented frustration. It's probably my own fault. The majority of people I talk to online are at the age where omg drugs r so cool, when I'm passed that phase.
Another thing I hate is that people who don't do drugs don't get a lot of jokes.

And drugs are cool, Nick. Drugs are very cool.

Liebensaft 03-07-2006 07:44 PM

I'm pretty sure it's an ocean, Kevin.

sketchyjoe 03-07-2006 07:45 PM
I haven't tried swaying anyone to edge. You Mr Joe are a cool person, but drinking is an unhealthy habit if it goes out of control, which is a risk for many people. Do you really need to try to get a minor to start drinking?
I started drinking at 15/16 and as I'm from England, I started drinking relatively late, after all my friends. I held off for probably some of the reasons you don't drink but when I started it was fun and it hasn't got any less fun since then. It didn't do me any harm and I drink moderately a lot and a lot moderately. I'm not going to become an alcoholic, I don't have the money for it. There's nothing wrong with drinking at 16 and there's even less wrong with drinking at 18.

Brain Toad 03-07-2006 07:46 PM
I have no interest in drugs. :/

Oh, and for drinking I have a slight fear of becoming my parents. It's a reasonable fear. Still, no interest in drinking.

But I've got friends that do it, and I can understand why they do. It's just something I don't see myself needing.
That's why I never did drugs. I had no interest in them. I saw what drugs could do to people. It just turned to edge because I see no reason in not claiming it other than the fear of breaking it, but that is no reason not to do anything.
Another thing I hate is that people who don't do drugs don't get a lot of jokes.

And drugs are cool, Nick. Drugs are very cool.
I'M GOING TO FLY TO ENGLAND AND KILL YOU FOR DRINKING!

I've quit drinking. I respect your choice to drink, but like Is aid, drinking could become an unhelathy habit, and it's toxic to your body. I see no reason to convince anyone to start drinking if they said they don't have interest in it.

sketchyjoe 03-07-2006 07:48 PM
I'M GOING TO FLY TO ENGLAND AND KILL YOU FOR DRINKING!
Well I'll make sure that I'll be just drunk enough to be sure that I'm ready to die.

asdf 03-07-2006 07:48 PM

I don't claim it not because I have a fear of breaking it, but because I just feel like there's no need for me to make a definite stand on it. I don't do it, because I don't feel like it. Someday, although very unlikely, that might change. I feel strong enough with who I am to not have to force myself to not do it.

And I also have to say that I have encouraged a friend or two to get off of drugs, but they were actually in serious danger, and not just on the ganj or anything. Getting into bad ****, and their life has gotten better since they've been basically clean.

sketchyjoe 03-07-2006 07:50 PM

My dad will often chuckle about his fondest memory
It's twenty years ago, drunk in a boat off greece
Watching his hungover friend roll on the floor madly
Like a caught fish as a gash on his leg bled
And although two decades have passed since it
It still makes my dad laugh more than great wit
And that's why I drink and why I'll never quit
I want a moment able to induce a smile 'til I'm dead

The nearest I've come to one was at a breakfast bar
In a friend's house slurring about how we really are
Our host, on his stairs, had found his sister's bra
And comes in demanding answers from our other friend
I always remember the looks they had with glee
One trying stern, the other trying not guilty
Both trying to hold smiles back but failing miserably
As the rest of us laugh as if on it our lives depend

I'm straight-edge between my drinking sessions
I'm not alcoholic but I can do a good impression
But porno cinemas don't do student concessions
As I try to be as offensive as jazz from hell
They say academia doesn't teach skills you can use
But it teaches you bullshitting and you get cheap booze
And I've learnt how to vomit without ruining my shoes
Cos when activism's expected, apathy's the only way to rebel

Flagjacket 03-07-2006 07:51 PM

My town is relativeley rich so everyone has the money for drugs. the drug situation here is really bad.

PS: Joe your song seems to say that drinking is the only way for you to have fun.

Brain Toad 03-07-2006 07:54 PM

sketchyjoe 03-07-2006 07:55 PM

Have you heard that William Shatner album? I listened to that first track, "Common People" and thought it was hilarious.

Brain Toad 03-07-2006 08:02 PM
Have you heard that William Shatner album? I listened to that first track, "Common People" and thought it was hilarious.
I believe he was quoting it.

And that song is a cover.

And that album ****ing ruled, especially his song with Rollins.

Flagjacket 03-07-2006 08:03 PM

The Rollisn song is the only Shatner song I enjoy.

Iron Bug 03-07-2006 08:05 PM

That album was awesome.

AndreTheHyena 03-07-2006 08:06 PM
Fine, get drunk, I don't give a ****.
I'll drink to that.

sketchyjoe 03-07-2006 08:14 PM

I'll drink to anything. :chug:
I believe he was quoting it.

I was quoting Pulp but the Shatner version is better. The best songs on that album are Common People, I Can't Get Behind That and Has Been.

RetiredAt21 03-08-2006 11:13 AM

I haven't drank in a long time. I've been smoking alot lately though, I like it better than drinking.

sketchyjoe 03-08-2006 01:20 PM

I just found out I-Farm are playing The Macbeth (where I saw TBIAPB) tomorrow. That should be pretty cool.

Skidmark Steve 03-08-2006 01:49 PM

Liebensaft 03-08-2006 02:35 PM

It's my friend Molly. Everyone was very intoxicated it was one of the local shows at the library here. That pooh suit was in the back room, which was like this kindergarten classroom. That also doubled as the booze room.

KingOfSka 03-08-2006 03:22 PM

I'm having a party this Friday night. I'm scared, 'cus I really don't want my house to get trashed.

AIRIC 03-08-2006 03:25 PM

Joe your friend is missing a chromosome.
