What you think of it? Too much?

horseypie 04-14-2009 01:47 AM

thanks for the message aaron :D

Aaron 04-14-2009 02:18 AM

hehe no worries. I'm trying [failing] to build a bit of hype this time. I'd love someone to offer to do a prelaunch review for sputnik. hint hint.

Meatplow 04-14-2009 05:40 AM

i'll do it

gaslight 04-14-2009 06:00 AM

What a crazy page of posts.

Hope to have a new Tiger Panic songs out within a few months.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 04-14-2009 08:50 AM

sweet is it going to be something completely different or the style as previous?

i've been listening to alot of Bill Hicks lately.

and i don't understand most of it because alot of it is early 90s american jokes

gaslight 04-14-2009 08:52 AM

I'd say at this stage it'll be recognisable as the same project but with a few new elements. I want to experiment with a few other sound sources, maybe an acoustic piano.

Meatplow 04-14-2009 03:53 PM

bill hicks was a bit too intense for my liking sometimes

Aaron 04-14-2009 04:57 PM
i'll do it
Excellent.

Audio-wise it's technically much better, less artifacts or lost quality unless it's intended to be there. I've done one song [4-track in structure] purposely dead-centre in mono but at 256k. It's an interesting concept: high-def mono audio.

You'll also be happy/suprised to know I've been slowly remastering Turned Into A Pillar Of Salt; thinking of a rerelease as a two-part album rather than one 79 minute/19-track epic.

Meatplow 04-14-2009 05:17 PM

excellent

high def mono audio? isn't the only purpose of mono to work in either speaker in the absence of a proper stereo setup and to save file size by not having two tracks that are exactly the same hogging up space?

Aaron 04-14-2009 05:32 PM

Excellent. Well traditionally it is but I make it work, lol. My idea was to mix a lush sound without the use of panning.

Meatplow 04-14-2009 05:47 PM

excellent. i've come up with a basic outline for this film i'm quite happy with, I must speak to you on msn when we get the chance

Aaron 04-14-2009 06:02 PM

Excellent. Will have internet tomorrow so I'll be back in biznes.

Meatplow 04-14-2009 09:11 PM

this youtube getting rid of official music videos is really getting me down when I wanna link someone :(

they were created originally for promotion of the music itself rather then the end product? jesus

Aaron 04-14-2009 09:21 PM

n = -ln(1-(i*P/R)) / log(1+i)
they were created originally for promotion of the music itself rather then the end product? jesus
That actually is what they were for really.

Thing is these days most people can't just be satisfied with just hearing something, they need something to look at to keep their little minds interested.

gaslight 04-15-2009 08:41 AM

I slept after dinner now I'll be up forever. Got a 2000 word essay due Friday that I really should start.

sgrevs 04-15-2009 08:44 AM

Dear Matt,
(or anyone else)

what do you use to record your bass (and other instruments) straight into the computer?

Thanks
Shaun

gaslight 04-15-2009 09:09 AM

For bass:

Simplest way is an 1/4" to 1/8" inch jack adapter straight into the line-in of your soundcard. Doesn't sound too crash hot though.

If your sound interface has an XLR (balanced line)-in then you're laughing 'cause you can just plug in through a nice DI with an XLR lead (ie; microphone lead). I'd call that the minimum for a nice quality recording.

gaslight 04-15-2009 09:51 AM

Did you know the technical term for the dot above the letter "i" is a tittle? Classic.

:chug:

gaslight 04-15-2009 10:44 AM

Also, wow.

gaslight 04-16-2009 06:08 AM

I fail to believe you've all been up to such incredible days so as to not have posted anything in this thread. Explanations please.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 04-16-2009 06:13 AM

i'm a bartender now so i have stuff to do during some days

i posted a thread today in the guitar forum about my new guitar.

being a new thread it's almost taken up my 3 posts per day quota

what have you been up to, to make your day incredible?

horseypie 04-16-2009 06:18 AM

yay bartendering
where do you tender?

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 04-16-2009 06:21 AM

heddon greta pub.

gaslight 04-16-2009 06:28 AM

I slept.

That is a very nice looking guitar. Only one pot though?

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 04-16-2009 06:30 AM

yep. that's the only thing i don't like about it.

how long did you sleep?

i had to get up early today and it sucked

gaslight 04-16-2009 06:34 AM

Slept from 6 AM to about 2 PM.

The lack of on-board tone controls isn't too bad I suppose, I'm guessing it's passive? Just stick it in a good amp like a Vox and use the tone controls on that.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 04-16-2009 06:37 AM

i got it mainly so i could record my songs + more with it.

and thanks to haz i've got amplitube and that's got a bunch of different settings.

but i've hit a snag with my recording gear so that's slowed me down a bit.

and yeah i'm guessing it's passive too lol, i don't know much about the electronics.

gaslight 04-16-2009 06:48 AM

If there's no batteries it's passive.

What's amplitube some sort of digital thing? I never really trust amp simulations though they do let you play around and experiment with different possibilities without having to purchase copious amounts of equipment.

I've hit a snag too lately, I need to get an external HD to free up laptop space then get a new audio interface for my laptop, then new strings for my guitar and then it's time for more songs.

I need some new bass strings too.

God everything costs money and I don't make enough of it.
