Haha that bra thing is funny.
There's one of Dave Mustaine where he gets it caught in his guitar whilst soloing and doesn't stop.

I was listening to WDADU last night...
How comes everyone says it's their worst album? :(
Meh...they're both good but...

When Dream & Day Unite > Falling Into Infinty

Jev 04-09-2006 05:20 AM
Because it has awful production and doesn't have LaBrie.
So if it did have LaBrie you'd like it more?

nowitzki 04-09-2006 06:16 AM

Yes a lot more. I prefer the versions of the songs with him on WDADRU, and the songs on Live at the Marquee are amazing (his voice on that album is just incredible).

Clunge 04-10-2006 08:33 AM

Can anyone point me in the direct of any DT studio recordings of covers or good live recordings (i.e. the ones on A Change Of Seasons).

The Zeppelin covers on their are brilliant.

Drop me your AIM and I can send you their cover of Pink Floyd's Hey You or their cover of all of Maiden's Number of the Beast album. Both are fantastic, LaBrie really shines.

Triangle 04-10-2006 08:46 AM

I really don't think Labrie suits Maiden or 'tallica.

/\ (torrent) Link for the official Ytse Jam Dark Side Of The Moon cover. I was there. :)

Haven't got AIM.

Amy chance you could send Hey You to flayla09@gmail.com ?

That'd be grand.

Thanks a ton, I'll have to dig out my torrent client. I can't wait to hear it, after seeing the trailer for the DVD. God, Petrucci playing Time...

I think Labrie's voice is perfect for Maiden.

Well, except for Bruce.

temporary 04-10-2006 10:36 AM

Oh my god, DT's cover of Dark Side of the Moon is just...mind blowingly good. Seriously, I can't believe how well they do it. Pink Floyd would be prowd if they ever heard it.

ghettoeddo 04-10-2006 01:06 PM

i actualy think labrie's voice is spot-on for maiden like flower dance said.
flower dance, are you happy by any chance?

maiden asked labrie to fill in for bruce after all ;)
:O i just found a video of the spirit carries on done to clips of FFX and FFX-2 and since im a sap for those games...

nowitzki 04-10-2006 09:06 PM

They're not released yet, he's on about the CD leak torrent a few posts up.

Oh, ok.

What is the instrument that Myung is playing, on the song New Millenium on Live at Budokon DVD. It looks like a 12 string bass, but the thicker strings are in the middle of the fret board.

I believe that is called a Chapman's stick. Ask nowitzki, I think he's a bass player.

Sweet, I was right.

Shattered_Future 04-10-2006 09:53 PM

Chapman sticks are ridiculous. It's a stick...with billions of strings.

GenuineImitation 04-10-2006 09:55 PM

I guess its what give New Millenium a Indian stlye vibe.

It looks pretty confusing to learn.

Shattered_Future 04-10-2006 10:03 PM

I've heard it's hard as hell to learn...don't only like 5 or 6 people know how to play it?

I have no idea, but Im sure more people know how to play it.

classicrockman 04-10-2006 10:07 PM

Tony Levin of King Crimson I've heard is a pretty good Chapman Stick player. I think he plays it on one of the Liquid Tension Experiment records...

I think he actually plays it almost exclusively on LTE2, and on some of the songs on LTE1.

ghettoeddo 04-11-2006 12:17 AM

i was under the impression that the chapman stick is like a 12-string guitar. it's just a 6-string bass thing w/ doubled strings. but i could be wrong.

check out this video of some guy playing mario on an 11-string bass (NOT a chapman stick)

I think more than 6 people can play it.

I think he plays it all the way through both albums.
If you want to hear some incredible Chpaman stick playing, listen to King Crimson's Discipline album.

pep 04-11-2006 09:58 AM

The chapman stick is played with tapping or like a regular bass?

Yeah, Tony Levin is (as many people have pointed out) a god. His style fits Frip, Belew, and Bruford's so perfectly. He's also done some good work with Peter Gabriel, and he's played with Paul Simon.
The chapman stick is played with tapping or like a regular bass?
Tapping, I think.
