What do you mean "non floyd fans" dont like Animals? Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands and I find Animals very boring.

If a 20 minute song isn't boring it can be good. Like "Echoes", "Mountain Jam", tons of Miles Davis tunes...etc Good music is good music.
I meant it the other way around, people who are not pink floyd fans generally do not like Animals
They will prefer things from The Wall or DSOTM
and Moaner, I agree that Sheep is also my least favorite song on Animals, I dont know what is the big hype about that song, Pigs and Dogs are better than Sheep. But it's still a good song.

Rothmans 07-21-2005 04:16 PM

Sheep just becomes tedious and a bit boring I have kinda gone off animals nowadays :/ and got more into DSOTM.

robo2448 07-21-2005 04:23 PM

I kind of feel that Dogs, Pigs, and Sheeps are all pretty much equal. Dogs is probably my favorite by a little just because of it's length.

Rothmans 07-21-2005 04:24 PM

I love the bit when he is just going Aha charade you are.

moaner 07-21-2005 05:05 PM
I love the bit when he is just going Aha charade you are.
yeah, its quite a blatant, strong message.

its like, "You are a joke, and there is nothing more to it"

Lunch 07-21-2005 05:31 PM

My favorite part of Pigs (Three Different Ones) are the lines "Hey you, Whitehouse. Aha, Charade you are."

TerryThorne 07-21-2005 05:49 PM

So I went over to my friends house today and he just bought this old double lp deal called a nice pair with PATGOD and Saucerful of secrets. I have never heard SoS before but after giving it two spins I think it might be my fave floyd album

WheepingGuitar39 07-21-2005 06:02 PM

Favorite part of Pigs... the KILLER solo at the end
W O W.
Hey, I have a live version of Pigs, im not sure if everyone has this or not
and it has 2 AMAZING solos in it
it's AWESOME
awesome awesome song
if anyone wants it just tell me

btw, does anyone know of ANY video footage of Gilmour playing Dogs OR Pigs?

Killtacular 07-21-2005 06:02 PM

Hmmm.. I don't really like SoS much at all.

DeusExMachina 07-21-2005 06:44 PM
Holy sh!t, you think that they were going downhill when they released Animals??!! Thatīs one of my favorite albums, especially considering Gilmourīs guitar playing. As for The Wall, I like it a lot, but yeah, itīs one of their weakest albums.
I think that The Wall > Animals. I like them both a lot, but I found Animals didn't live up to the hype. It just gets boring to me.
They were. Roger was becoming more of the leader of the band and writing most of the material. Animals is all about Roger's views of communism, the Wall is somewhat like Roger's autobiography.

Riva 07-21-2005 07:04 PM

The Wall album is 90% Roger, 10% Syd. However, The Wall movie is 80% Roger, 20% Syd. Most of the things Geldof does in the movie, like shaving his body hair, and sitting in the chair with the cigarette burning between his fingers, are things Roger saw Syd doing.

Grant 07-21-2005 07:09 PM

I'd like to hear this killer Pigs solo, Wheeping Guitar.

I agree, I absolutely love the solo at the end of Pigs. It's one of my favorite parts on Animals.

Riva 07-21-2005 07:25 PM

I'm uploading Pigs(Three Different Ones) for you, PGaF.

WheepingGuitar39 07-21-2005 08:05 PM
I'm uploading Pigs(Three Different Ones) for you, PGaF.
The live one?
It's 5-9-1977

I could try to upload it but I'm not sure I know how

Lunch 07-21-2005 09:12 PM

The riff at the end of Sheep is amazing as well.

magicbus 07-21-2005 09:14 PM
The riff at the end of Sheep is amazing as well.
I was thinking that too, when I was listening to it yesterday. It's awesome.

Lunch 07-21-2005 09:43 PM

I like listening to Dark Side after not listening to it for a very long time.

magicbus 07-21-2005 09:57 PM

I really liked Darkside the first time I heard it (I still do, obviously). It was the first time I ever heard any Floyd, and I was amazed. I remember really liking the vocals on "Time", because there were two singers. And when it hit "Any Colour You Like", I was all...

Brings back good memories.

Lunch 07-21-2005 09:57 PM

That's what it does for me. Back when I first got into Pink Floyd (as in first got Dark Side) I listened to it basically nonstop for awhile. Good times.

Nektar 07-21-2005 10:02 PM

ahhh, the Floyd thread.

Floyd at Pompeii :thumb:

Echos..the best jam ever. :)

WheepingGuitar39 07-21-2005 10:18 PM

You know what's funny.
im a HUGE floyd fan, but i always discover a new song that i never payed attention to, and that i now love

Any color you like is really powerful
felt like i snorted cocaine for 3 hours traight

Lunch 07-21-2005 10:20 PM

The part around 1:20 is ownage. I just listened to it.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 07-21-2005 11:09 PM

I was watching my recorded tape of Pink Floyd's Live 8 concert and right before "Wish You Were Here" Roger Waters mentioned Syd and how he was missing. I just couldn't help but smile knowing that they're still thinking about Syd even when it's on their last concert they'll ever play in.

NV: Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd (VHS Live 8)

magicbus 07-21-2005 11:31 PM

I'm about to listen to "Any Colour You Like" now, just because of that cocaine reference.

EDIT: All of Darkside. I'll get there eventually.

DeusExMachina 07-21-2005 11:43 PM

Darkside is awesome. But The Wall is what got me started into Pink Floyd. First album I ever heard by them.

Riva 07-22-2005 06:25 AM

Pigs (Three Different Ones)

I really like Any Colour You Like, especially the pace, it feels apathetic. My first album was Obscured By Clouds, followed by Ummagumma. I didn't even know of DSotM until I was 14 or so.

Adam-J 07-22-2005 06:31 AM
