I'm not spending money on a new shirt, plus that would mean I wasted all the paint I used on mine. And the early Wailers made some great ska, Marley's not just for hippies.

mullets suk 04-09-2006 04:50 PM
how do you get silkscreen paint? and how much does it cost?
you can make iron on prints your self, you need to buy some sort of thing for it. im not sure how much it cost, but you print out an image from the interweb, and iron it on. they dont last that though so... yea. or you could just buy iron on shirts, dont know where though.

lastly dont double post. theres an edit button for a reason. some people can get really pissed for things like that.(generalizing that statement to the whole of the interweb)

You can get it online; I use 'speedball fabric ink'. But unless you plan to actually silkscreen and use a lot, you might as well get fabric paint. It's like 7-8$ for an 8 oz. container which lasts quite a while. Don't get plastic based ink or you'll be screwed because you need a whole expensive setup to use that stuff.

BCT 04-09-2006 07:58 PM

i am sorry about the double post my computer just does stupid crap so i did not think it posted at all and thanks for all the info but i am going to keep useing spray paint for a little while.

BCT 04-09-2006 08:11 PM
All right, so I need a way to put something else on top of my PE shirt. I've got my Marley stencil on there in black, and I can't just spray the whole thing black with another colour on top because with spraypaint nothing shows up on top of black. Hmm... quite the sticky situation.
put a censored bar over the joint it should be fine for school or make some thing whith a huge black area in it to spary over it but that will probably turn out like carp

AIRIC 04-09-2006 08:14 PM

Carp the fish.

Danger Bird 04-09-2006 09:46 PM

For fabric painting shirts, is it better to buy the spray-on fabric dye or use liquid fabric paint and a roller?

time bomb 04-10-2006 05:36 AM

Ok, so i did something dumb and tried to decorate my skateboard using oil pastels and draw a picture of a burning match and ended up with a ****ty picture of something that looks nothing like a match at all...sooo, would anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of oil pastel off grip-tape without getting my deck too wet?

Mannik 04-10-2006 05:48 AM

Post a picture.

time bomb 04-10-2006 05:56 AM

no digital camera, sorry...but if i end up doing a good picture on it (using something smart like a stencil...:() once ive cleaned the crayon off, then ill scab a camera and post one....As if i want you to see (and laugh-at) my piss poor attempt at artwork anyway :P

Mannik 04-10-2006 06:07 AM

Haha no worries, I've done painfully shitty stuff on my griptape all too many times.

Danger Bird 04-10-2006 02:42 PM

I decided to just put some duct tape over the joint with "CENSORED" written on it.

Brain Toad 04-10-2006 02:54 PM

Hope you don't plan on washing that shirt then.

Danger Bird 04-10-2006 03:05 PM

Why not? Because the duct tape will melt? Bah, I'm only wearing it for PE, and the year's almost over.

Brain Toad 04-10-2006 03:17 PM

Duct tape will **** up in a washing machine.

Rise Me Up 04-10-2006 03:21 PM

He could just take it off, then reapply it before and after each wash.

Danger Bird 04-10-2006 03:23 PM

Tell you the truth, I could probably get away with not washing that shirt the rest of the year.

Mannik 04-10-2006 03:24 PM

Yeah, but with a different piece of tape every few times, it'd lose it's stickyness from being peeled off too often

ratsinthecity403 04-10-2006 09:10 PM

Watch out with the duct tape. If it's a hot day the glue may very well melt and get gross sticky duct tape stuff all over your shirt.

Anybody who makes a cool Cthulhu stencil gets on helluva pat on the back. Google Cthulhu if you don't what it is.

I use a bootleg version of Photoshop I have to separate all the colors. I don’t know how to do it with any other program but if you have Photoshop you can change the contrast and brightness. i use put it in black and white by Desaturating the image frist. You increase the contrast and sometimes you have to darken the photo but most of the time you have to brighten it. Then use the select color range thing and separate highlights shadows and mids into different files and print them one at a time. Remember you have to keep all the image sizes the same on the new files before you paste the shadow layer or what ever in to it or the layers will not line up. go to http://www.stencilrevolution.com/tutorials/
for way better tutorials i suck at explaining things.
i post more of my stencil **** on that site my name is still BCT this is my gallery

Finally, someone doing layered stencils. I'm going to start doing that soon (as soon as I have a reason to, really).

I'm excited because I'm going to stencilfy a wall in my basement for the fun of it.

Danger Bird 04-11-2006 03:47 PM

I did a 2 layer dead kennedys stencil. I'm special.

the-UK-ska-scene 04-11-2006 04:31 PM

Today I made a Bomb The Music Industry! shirt using felt and ribbon.

Tomorrow I'm gonna stitch round the letters, at the moment they're just attached by this hemming stuff which seems to do the job, but I wanna add stitching for decoration.

I'm gonna be making a Defiance, OH shirt in the same vain at some point this week probably...
