The old delucias are heavy
They are now the ms4.

Heavier sticks build chops. Harder to control them also.

double stroke roller 02-15-2007 11:38 AM

I have a harder time controling skinny sticks. The weight doesn't make a diffrence to me as much as the diameter does.

The Ska Man 02-15-2007 11:42 AM

I feel weighed down with heavier sticks. I can't travel around the kit all that well, either, so it doesn't help. I mainly groove on me hats/snare/bass. Not into fills, and heavier sticks would just make'em harder.

Pearldrumguy 02-15-2007 12:04 PM

I wouldn't ever use any type of marching sticks on a set, only for pad work. That would cause some equipment damage.

Pearldrumguy 02-15-2007 12:22 PM

lol my sticks...bag too small.

2 rows plus mallets not in the bag, about 30 pairs. not all sticks shown

Xorkofski 02-15-2007 12:34 PM

do you like, never break sticks?

i have 3 pairs at any one time. one at college, one at home, one spare.

i have a pair of mallets as well, but dont usually use em

Pearldrumguy 02-15-2007 12:41 PM

Yea i do, But I retaped my marching ones like once a week and only broke one pair that season, the other pair i used are cracked but are playable on a pad but not good for snare. I just got the drumset sticks and only broke one pair recently. Haven't played set in awhile and have only been serious about set for a month. But I play on pads mostly and you cant really break sticks on a pad unless you have bad technique. I play keyboard(marimba, xylophone, bells, etc.), timpani, and many percussion instruments. So I use my mallets for those. Don't use mallets on set but i use brushes and rute type sticks.

Drum Phil 02-15-2007 12:55 PM

maniac0796 02-15-2007 01:27 PM

Greased up my shocks cos they'd seized up, went to test em, shoe lace got caught in my cranks, went to put my foot down, taking the bike with me on it into a hedge, and thats where i landed on the bush stem.

320. Try building more light fighters...apparently it's more cost effective to just build several light fighters instead of one heavy fighter.

Drum Phil 02-15-2007 02:03 PM

290 for me. Catching up will ;)

I never realised Steve The Pirate from Dodgeball was Wash from Serenity

TTTSNB 02-15-2007 02:06 PM

I'm okay, it's just a surface wound that bled really. Nothing too serious. Just stings like a motherbitch though. thanks anyway

Undisco Kidd 02-15-2007 02:17 PM

Woot.

I can build heavy lasers.

I'm not making any ships until I can get the heavy cargo ships and a fleet of battlecruisers.

Drum Phil 02-15-2007 02:21 PM

Pilot: "This landing could get pretty interesting"

Captain: "Define interesting"

Pilot: "Oh god oh god we're all gonna die?"

Captain (on the PA): "This is the captain speaking, we have a slight problem with our entry sequence. We may experience some slight turbulence and then.... explode"

Captain: "Just get us on the ground"

Pilot: "That part'll happen pretty quickly"

I love serenity :)

Undisco Kidd 02-15-2007 02:57 PM

Heavier sticks are often thought to help build chops, but is very debatable, much like the old practicing on a pillow argument. Many proponents of different practice habits will advocate specific things and it is a good idea to try everything and see how it works for you and if it improves your playing.

While big sticks have more mass, they would probably work your muscles best for singles. But don't work any doubles with them, in my opinion, because that additional mass only leads to more rebound, which babies your doubles development.

Some good times had. I'm too cheap to fork out the money for it, though. Haven't smoked pot since the day Beerfest came out.

Undisco Kidd 02-15-2007 03:22 PM

I haven't smoked pot since... ever.

Gary Lover 02-15-2007 03:23 PM

Though I have lurked here for quite some time, I am not certain how this 'rep' thing works! Forgive my ignorance; I recieved some comments and points on my User CP page but I do not know how to return the favor.

Look at someone's avatar.

Then go down.

Under their postcount.

There is a blue box with a Check and an X.

Click it.

Then you can totally + or - rep them.
