The Halloween show was AMAZING..!

The mix was absolutely perfect, everything could be heard, and Mikael was hilarious on stage. He even made fun of the way that Martin Mendez headbangs sideways instead of up and down...

Like I said in my last post, OPETH WAS FVCKING AWESOME LIVE! Deliverance and Bleak really stood out with the drumming and Akerfeldt's growls were so clean and powerful. When they ended with the song Blackwater Park...the crowd went crazy.

Akerfeldt was also very funny when he gave us growling lessons between songs.

I wanna see Opeth live.

I just heard Godhead's Lament for the first time about a week ago and thought it was pretty good. The solo that starts at around 3:00 is awesome. I also love the clean vocals in this song, as opposed to the growls which I don't find particularly great. I'll probably like them a lot better after I listen to it more though.

This dude I work with has never heard of [B]O[/B]peth right, he says he's into hardcore death metal and what not, so I let him listen to [I]The Master's Apprentices[/I]...his response. ''Isn't that the Dungeons and Dragons theme song hahahaha'' I was like ''...'' I thought to myself, he was either joking, or that the stuff he listens to is more ''hardcore'' to him. Anyways, as I walked out of the parking lot when it was time to leave, as he was driving away, he was listening to that Vertigo song by U2, and singing along with it trying to headbang! He mocks [B]O[/B]peth, yet he headbangs to U2. I just laughed to myself and drove home.

Probably Serenity Painted Death. It's got the coolest grooves in it, plus his vocal work is awesome. I think someone already mentioned that the riff uses that pinch harmonic really well.

I love the guitar solo in that song. It's so different from any of their others.

Mine would be black rose immortal, but i only play the first solo and deliverance, but i dont like playing the last part of the song. it just seems to drone on and one

The only Opeth I can play is the first couple minutes of Bleak.

I just know the odd riff from Opeth... I plan on learning Face Of Melinda and Still Day Beneath the Sun sometime soon though.

the riff in closure is awesome. its great to learn the stuff form damnation because its so diverse.

My favorite opeth song to play is Benighted or Leper Affinity. I can play Drapery Falls all the way through as well (thats the first song from Opeth i learned). Still Day Beneath The Sun is also fun once you figure it out.

I love playing the beginning of most Damnation songs. Windowpane is great.
Fac of Melinda, the intro is also amazing. I haven't tried any other songs. Which ones would you recommend? Which song just amazes you, by the wonderful structure of the chords?

I know most of Black Rose Immortal, but I haven't tried to put it together yet.

Ending Credits and Windowpane are both great. Actually, the whole of Damnation is.

Blackwater Park is also hella fun to play.

Drapery Falls has some very cool parts to play, but the loud parts are pretty weak on just one guitar. Patterns in the Ivy II is amazingly beautiful, I don't know how he comes up with some of those fingerings.

But if you gots the skillz, Melinda comes through perfectly on one guitar, start to finish. The loud part isn't hard, but the fingering in the rest is pretty tricky.

Bleak and Advent are incredibly fun to play on bass.

I can't be bothered to tune down to play that song. I'm so lazy when it comes to tuning. I try to avoid drop D for that reason as well.
