none, my guitar teacher taught it to me
Alright then. You and your guitar lessons. Still take it?
Hmmm.. trying to figure if Jacaranda is pro or anti Beatles. At any rate, if he's not a fan it's rather ironic that his handle is the name of one of the clubs (like the Cavern) the Beatles used to play at in Liverpool before they made it big.
Well he's a big stones fan and it seems to me that he resents the fame and acclaim the beatles get over the rolling stones
Alright then. You and your guitar lessons. Still take it?
Still take guitar lessons? Yeah - but at the moment it's holidays so they'll start again in february |
Heh heh...I had a capo and I lost it, and I really wanted it for playing Here Comes The Sun. Finally I just went out and bought one, and another crappier one for backup (I lose things a lot). It's such a fun song to play.
I'm listening to Revolver right now. Good Day Sunshine. I'm kinda in the mood to listen to Sgt. Peppers right now though...maybe I'll do that after. Do any of you have any Beatles albums on vinyl? I wish I had more, I've got Help!, Sgt. Peppers, and Abbey Road. I think that's it. It'd be awesome to have all of them. I like Let It Be Naked more than Let It Be.
I've got Magical Mystery Tour and the White Album on vinyl.
Hmmm.. trying to figure if Jacaranda is pro or anti Beatles. So do I...and All Things Must Pass, even though one set isn't really mine.

Yeah. |
i own 2 of every Beatle vinyl.....suckas ;)
Now that's just eccentric.:p jk. |
Is the difference between Let it Be and Let it Be Naked big enough for me to pick it up if I already have Let it Be.
Yes! My friend bought it and at first I was against it, thinking it was an ***-holish thing for Paul to do. Then I listened to the naked version of Across The Universe and nearly creamed my pants. The sound was so clear, the quality was so much better than the original version, all the songs have been beautifully updated and sound incredible compared to the original discs. And the addition of the incredible "Don't Let Me Down" only sweetens the deal! |
Well I think you've made up my mind for me. Does it also come with that "fly on the wall" disc i've heard about?
|
Yeah mine did but I've heard that not all do.
|
Crap. I'll have to make sure the one I get includes it. It sounds really interesting to me.
|
Fly on the Wall is pretty cool. And yes, it's definitely worth it.
|
Jac is a complicated dude. Afterall, he likes AFI, so yeah figure that one out.:p
Oh your going down. Thats uncalled for. I thought the other disc with Naked was dumb I basically listened to it once and then put it back in its case were its sat ever since. |
I wouldn't call having two copies of the same vinyl album eccentric. I'd call it practical. One to play and one to HAVE. Every time you play a vinyl the needle wears off a little, little bit of the groove that makes the sound. Play the record alot, and soon you have alot of scratch and hiss. It's nice to have a spare copy that's in pristine condition.
It's also potentially worth a lot more. If you decide for collecting, you'll find many differences in the pressings of the Beatle albums over the years. The first early albums were in mono. Then they were converted to stereo a year or so later. The British albums were different from American. The Brit Parlophone/EMI releases had 14 songs on each. Capital cut them down to 11 songs per so they could squeeze an extra album or two out of the available recordings in America. Capital albums used a black with rainbow outer circle label in the 60's. In the late 60's they switched to a green label. When the Beatles formed Apple records, all the albums after Sgt. Peppers had the apple label both in Britian and America. Then through the 70's Apple took over and all Beatle albums sported the apple label. So it's possible to collect Sgt. Peppers in original Capital black label, the original EMI label, a Capital green label from later pressings, and a mid seventies apple label version. For their early stuff you have a Capital black label mono AND stereo record. Same for EMI -- one in mono and anouther version in stereo. I have them all, plus an extra apple label pressing just to play and not worry about scratching up. Of course, I formed this collection when I was in college during the 70's when vinyl was the norm -- which made collecting easy. I didn't do this with a lot of artists -- only the ones, like the Beatles, that were so significant in music history. Call me crazy, but I'm glad I did. Now, if only I had kept all those comic books I had as a kid..... |

On Vinyl, I have A Hard Days night, Yesterday and Today, Red, Blue, Rubber, Abbey, Sgt Pepper, Beatles 65, Please Please me, MMT and The Beatles: Somethng New.

Well no shit... I was saying one of the last things I want to listen to is the Beatles sitting around talking or whatever the hell they are doing. Now if it was the Stones... well...
Well he's a big stones fan and it seems to me that he resents the fame and acclaim the beatles get over the rolling stones
Hmmm.. trying to figure if Jacaranda is pro or anti Beatles. Its rare that someone knows the origins of my name. |
Hmm...Let It Be Naked sounds sweet, I might need to pick it up. I need a new copy of Let It Be anyway, my burned copy skips alot, and that utterly pisses me off.
|

ITs gives you a taste of their personalities, but whatever. |
ITs gives you a taste of their personalities, but whatever.
Hm, different strokes for different folks I suppose. I'd rather watch one of their movies and take personalities from there. Even if they are fake personalitites. |
Well, Jac, I am impressed with the origin of your handle. I have many interests, not just the Beatles. I've been on this earth for over four decades now, and that's quite a bit of time to be bombarded with information. Small wonder my Trivia Pursuit skills have flourished. You can ask me anything about WWII as well, I'm pretty up on that too.
So, you are as I expected. Good show. From what I've read of the Beatles themselves, I'm sure they would appreciate an icon-buster like yourself. Carry on, buddy. :) |

"Hey Keith, that was some top notch smack we had last night." "Ya that stuff was incredible. I just hope it doesn't make me look 60 years old when I'm 40.." "Nah, I can't see that happening." Hehe I love the Stones. |
The beatles are fine
but they dont write any songs with any meaning they are all catchy and no point to them, let it be is about the only song with imagery and im not talking like lucy in the sky with diamonds is LSD. I don't care much for the rolling stones but listen to sympathy for the devil and see how they have the balls to write something with a little contraversy, and not afraid to be dixie chicked. |
Is it possible that you just don't catch the meaning in the songs? No, of course not, how silly of me. You should do some research.
By the way, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds isn't about LSD. It's a song John wrote describing pictures drawn by his son Julian. |

I think "Hey Jude" has more personal meaning to me then any other song ever, and then the end, oh how I love the end it makes me go crazy. But c'mon how can you say they have no meaning when you clearly haven't heard all that many of theirs songs. Maybe its just personal meaning but I find on all the albums I enjoy they have at least one song that is powerful, "A Day In the Life", "Here Comes The Sun", "Fool on the Hill", "Eleanor Rigby", "While My Guitar Gently Wheeps", now what the songs really are written about hell if I know and hell if I care, I have my own ideas and they are always right. |

The first thing that pops in their head when the hear the name Beatles is Love Me Do and that clip from the Ed Sullivan show. And I know they didn't go out of their way to be contraversial (that was John on his solo carrer) but they defenetly have some songs that were concidered to be contreversial. One thing that people today don't realize is how huge of a blow it was to their more conservitive fans when they started growing their hair long, and writting songs like Revolution or about drugs. The Beatles were concidered a "safe" band but compleatly blew that image. |
