if the Final Cut is an album you cant request albums.
|
Can someone here upload the song "The Final Cut" for me? I'd greatly appreciate it.
are you sure? Have your ears done something to annoy you recently? Sorry. I just don't like that album at all. or momentary lapse. Some of the division bell is pretty cool, though. |

He said he wanted the song, so itīs ok. |
Umm... I really don't know if there are people here, but how about we give some opinions, or something. so, here's an opinion question:
Was Pink Floyd better before or after Roger Waters left the band? I definately think that Pink Floyd was the very best band ever, until Roger Waters left. No offense to David Gilmore, but he has awful lyrics. He tries and all, but PLEASE try harder. anyone else got something to say? |
I'm uploading the song right now.
The Final Cut I like the album, perhaps as not as much as Floyd's other efforts, but I tend to look at it as a Roger Water's album, much like MLOR is a Gilmour album. It's got some boring sequences, yes, and it is somewhat uncomfortable listening at times.
Umm... He still composes beautiful music though. However, I think Rick and Nick just lost the plot after Roger left, so I guess I'd have to say the entire band in their WYWH-era was the best. |
Not only in the Wish You were Here era
I'd have tos ay, Meddle, Dark Side of hte Moon and Wish You were Here were TRULY work of ALL 4 members. If you look at the song credits for the songs from those 3 albums, there are alot of songs that are credited to all 4 members, even Nick Mason. After WYWH, like Animals, The Wall, The Final Cut, the lyrics are mostly exclusively to Roger Waters.. and well Final Cut is completely his in credit. If you notice, Momentary Lapse of Reason and Division bell have credits to all sorts of poeple. From Richard Wright's backup keyboardist to David Gilmour's wife. |
Is this thread dying?
I know I havnt posted much but I usually lurk and read a load because I love this band more than any other band at the moment and it just seems to be dying very slowly nowadays (i hope this does not happen :/) It seems that a lot of good threads are dying nowadays. |
Hey all you people that live in chicago.
Is there a light show at the Tweeter Center this year. I went last year and everyone got high and I WAS THE ONLY NOT GETTIN HIGH OFF THE FUMES. |
I still dont understand why everyone incorporates Pink Floyd with Drugs?
And why almost everyone has to smoke up at a Floyd concert. |
I still dont understand why everyone incorporates Pink Floyd with Drugs?
Their main songwriter for their first album went crazy because he used so much acid. Most of their songs seem like drug induced songs to Non-Floyd Fans. |

Notice how I said MOST. |

Meh, your grammar is terrible in that sentence, so it is hard to tell what you are pointing at :p The way it is written makes it sound like you say" Most of the songs sound drug induced to them, but some dont" :eng101: But Comfortably Numb does mislead some people. |

Drugs will always be associated with Pink Floyd mostly because of the under ground physcadelic movement of the late 60s. Only one of the members really got in touch with the movement and ended up going crazy. All the other members were just in it for the music and fame.

when i went to aussie floyd I can't help but think some people went there expecting everybody to be smoking hashh. its a bit said.
amazing gig though. |
Comfortably Numb is about drugs though
I thought Comfortably Numb was about how one of the band members who ill during a show one night and it reminded him of when he was a child and got sick and his hands swelled up, so he wrote a song about it. I know I read that somewhere. |

nope, not the way i see it. Touring has taken its toll on Pink, who simply can't manage it anymore. Someone like a promoter or his manager has given him drugs so that he can play the show. |
Their main songwriter for their first album went crazy because he used so much acid.

Anyway in montreal they played in the Bell centre, which is a pretty big arena where NHL hockey games are played. I went there with my father and little brother. After a couple of songs, you could see all the smoke building up in the top of the place. The 4 people in front of us were smoking big time and sending their smoke upwards, towards us. My dad had to take care of them. |

It's about drugs. All of it fits into the context of the album, and that wouldn't fit in to the concept. And now comes my summarized response to the past 3 pages of this thread. Petitions are as stupid as... I don't know. Something really stupid. The band was best when they all worked together, started going downhill around the Animals/Wall era, in my opinion. Drugs are funny, and people like to do them because Pink Floyd is awesome to smoke to. The Final Cut sucks. |
I have no interest in hearing the Final Cut at all. That's how I also felt about MLOR and The Division Bell, but I'm beginning to like most of Division Bell, and I like a few songs on MLOR.
|
The Final Cut is a very good album. I know it techincally isn't Pink Floyd, because Wright is gone, but I must say it's some of their best work lyrically.
Comfortably Numb is about a time when Roger Waters performed and felt ill. He took medicine, and felt "comfortably numb" -- straight from his mouth. |
remember those interviews i kept talking about and you guys kept asking where they were
i found a whole bunch of them very very interesting stuff http://www.pinkfloyd-co.com/band/interviews/bnd_interviews.html david gilmour's interviews are very interesting |

Thatīs one of my favorite albums, especially considering Gilmourīs guitar playing. As for The Wall, I like it a lot, but yeah, itīs one of their weakest albums. |
I'm going to agree with DeusEx that their collaboration went down after Wish you were here. but Animals was still awesome, maybe not for non floyd fans who probobly can't stand 20 minute songs, but for floyd fans, and fans of david gilmour's guitar solos, WOW.
The Wall is a masterpiece. But maybe too much storyline, not enough music. Let's not talk about Final Cut The two albums without Waters were very very good musically, but again.. kind of lacked that Waters feeling to it. |

Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands and I find Animals very boring. If a 20 minute song isn't boring it can be good. Like "Echoes", "Mountain Jam", tons of Miles Davis tunes...etc Good music is good music. |

The only thing I don't like about Animals is how it's more complicated. Gilmour uses open tunings and other scales, I prefer he kept it simple, like every other album. I know it's minor, but it bothers me a little.
I still like it though, great songs. And don't get me wrong, Gilmour still does fantastic on it, but I really like the "blues riffs", pentatonic Gilmour. |
