Ten Years After aren't a trio. :-/
Well, on the Woodstock DVD I only remembered seeing three people, so that's what I was going on.

Broken Arrow 01-27-2006 10:29 PM

Yeah, they have a keyboardist too.

EDIT-I'm surprised you didnt have the original Gov't Mule in your trio list

I'm kinda disapointed in you.

jpj 01-27-2006 10:53 PM

I'm sorry I can't live up to your expectations :upset:

JonG 01-27-2006 10:56 PM

Haha.

I've listened to so much Dead this week. :)

I'm groovin' on some Curtis Mayfield now though.

Broken Arrow 01-27-2006 11:01 PM

I didn't spend that much time listening to music on my computer this week because I was trying to get it all back on to my computer.

Blank 01-28-2006 12:26 AM

Greatful Dead is a great band! :thumb:

I want to start a acid blues rock band so bad...but I know I wouldn't go anywere with it.... :upset:

Jacaranda 01-28-2006 12:28 AM
That's ****ing bull**** and you know it. Admit it. You are just jumping on the bandwagon of ignorant rock elitist wannabes who like to pretend they know a lot about rock by saying that Bono is pretentious and an spatula. Have you actually heard nothing but ignorance and arrogance come out of his mouth? Because just about everything I've heard come out of his mouth has related to his contribution to aid in Africa, or his current music projects...and I don't see anything ignorant or arrogant about that. I have actually never ever seen Bono say or do anything that I would consider arrogant. And I'm pretty sure the mullet thing was just rumours and words taken out of context anyways. So why don't you use your own brain and opinions instead of just going by what you hear other people say?

edit - I don't wanna sound like a prick, but I'm sick of tired of everyone saying that Bono is an spatula despite the fact that he's doing more for this world than any other musician on the planet.
123
He's done more then John Lennon and Lennon was known for being a prick. Not taking anything away from Lennon but he was a big phallus I hear/read. Not to mention the countless other musicians who are known for being cocky or what not... (Roger Waters, Kanye West, Axl Rose, my beloved Perry Farrell and Keith Richards, Lars Ulrich, the Gallaghers) Hating a musician for being cocky is just retarded. I personally like U2 alot, their new stuff is still better then 50% of music by other artists, then when you stack up Boy and War which are both top ten albums of the past 25 years for me.
At any rate I think if I was in one of the biggest bands of the last 25 years I know for a fact I'd be cocky as hell. Me, personally would be prancing around like Prince Charles (o wuteva).
Just saw Munich, excellent movie.
I get online everyday, scan through conversation if I don't see anything that interests me I don't post and lately you guys have been either posting alot of spam or posting about bands that I'm not a fan of. I was kidding about your opinion by the way, I think you have very unique taste in music and are not afraid to share a controversial opinion for this I have alot of respect for you even though I strongly disagree with almost everything you post.
Oh I know you weren't serious, or at least I was hoping you weren't. Apparently no one agree's with my views but hey, as long as I like um I'm happy, and hey thanks...
Spam? Who me? No.
/shifty.

Leper 01-28-2006 12:31 AM
Wow, I would call that arrogant. I never heard him say that. I think Bono is probably quite bitter towards songwriters like John Lennon who are loved by everyone and known as wonderful humanitarians even though they really just wrote songs about peace and love and attended the odd love-in...they never actually got out there and tried to physically make changes happen through working with governments and charity groups day after day.
Well I know Lennon was involved in many Government protests in his post-Beatles days, afterall, you don't nearly get deported just for writing music. I don't know how much, if anything, Lennon actually did charity-wise though.

He sat he bed. Thats about it. Protests can only go so far, they can pressure people but money is what makes the moves.

Leper 01-28-2006 12:40 AM

Too true. I truly do admire Bono for all the money he's raised/donated to charities.

I can't remember if you said whether or not you've heard War or Boy? If you haven't I'd be more then happy to send them to you. Via whatever AIM, YSI whatever.

At your post below: Ah, okay I recommend picking up War if not for any reason other then... umm, well I don't know what to say really. Its just a good album I don't know if you'll like it, but I know I like it...

Leper 01-28-2006 12:52 AM

I've heard most of them. Thanks anyways Jac, but it would take forever for me to download. I'll probably end up buying them if I see them for a decent price anyways.

Glitterati 01-28-2006 01:09 AM

Jaca, Munich was a pretty cool movie. It was so gnarly when that guy got shot right through the face, I looked away 'cause I'm a pussy :-/
That entire album is great. I was listening to it all Christams. Only ever hear about them in the punk forum though.
I love The Pogues. If I Should...etc is such a cool song. I need that album.

JonG 01-28-2006 01:11 AM

I just got The London Howlin' Wolf Sessions.

It's with 'Wolf, Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts.

I actually like a lot of U2's older material. In fact I once got slightly ripped in this thread for saying that I thought the Joshua Tree was a essential Classic Rock album. I think it's a fantastic album though.

I went with 2 girls and my best friend and I was the only one who looked away at all the killing scenes I'm a giant pussy. The worst was the guy in the face or the guy on the fan/Dutch girl getting killed. Basically any time I saw blood I looked away.

Oh really? Hm, I'm not sure why anyone would rip on you for that it is an essential CR album, even if you don't consider U2 classic rock I think its an essential for any collection (Hint MBS, Hint.) Although not my favorite U2 album still great.

Ain't it your bed time? Is it any good I bet the rhythm section is flawless. Amiright?

Leper 01-28-2006 01:27 AM

Well I think some considered a 1987 release too recent to be considered Classic Rock. But whatever, that still doesn't take away from how good it is.

gmoneyguy 01-28-2006 01:27 AM

This is OT but I want you guys to check out the lesson I just wrote.

Blood in movies = ++

It's good so far. I have a headache, I'm going to bed soon.

MBS 01-28-2006 02:12 AM

What does slightly confuzzled sea lion replace? Pussy?

Ah, pussy.

Leper 01-28-2006 02:20 AM

I'm glad you figured that out because I was wondering the same thing, but I didn't really want to ask lol.

PinkFreud 01-28-2006 03:29 AM

the london sessions are good. ringo plays on it too. i think. it's not wolf's best though because it's toward the end of his career. he's got such a powerful voice though, it's awesome.

robo2448 01-28-2006 10:01 AM

Everybody go post in my review for The Animals-Greatest Hits-http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?p=5030

I like John Lennon and U2 a lot.

Hey Welcometothemachine (if you see this), could you possibly upload that Woodstock box set you were talking about a couple weeks ago? I'd like it a lot. I know that it will probably take some time and you may be too busy, so no rush, but I'd really appreciate it if you could upload it sometime.

Broken Arrow 01-28-2006 10:32 AM

Yeah I have it too, it's pretty good.

I just downloaded Dick's Picks 19 and the Big Come Up by the Black Keys.

MidnightRider 01-28-2006 12:03 PM

Lately I've been on a bit of an Allman Bros run, Eat a Peach is a masterpiece.
Blood in movies = ++
Has anyone seen Hostile? I saw it the other day, it's the creepiest movie I've ever seen. My friends all made fun of me afterwards because I hid behind my hoody through all the bad scenes.

I don't plan on seeing it. I don't mind violence in movies if there's a good plot involved (i.e. Reservoir Dogs) but I find most horror films are just mindless violence for the sake of mindless violence.

WelcomeToTheMachine 01-28-2006 12:45 PM

I heard Hostle is all sex and blood, ill probbably see it soon.

anybody have Zappa - Waka/Jawaka

Robo, ill start it now, sorry, i forgot all about it.

I can do Waka/Jawaka. And thanks for the Woodstock. I didn't mean to bother you about it, but I thought you may have forgotten about it.

Edit- Waka/Jawaka already uploaded. It uploaded really, really fast. It's a pretty short album though. I sent it out so check your inboxes.

PinkFreud 01-28-2006 01:14 PM

hostel really lacked in plot. it seems like a saw wannabe. i didn't much like it.

RockAndRoll 01-28-2006 01:18 PM
