Retarded Chipple 02-12-2007 06:35 PM

Thanks guys. Heres what I said (although it hasn't seem to have come up yet...):

"Grade 1 drummer!? You haven't got very far considering you've been playing for 5 years and the grades start at 1!

Your knowledge is obviously far more superior than mine so please explain why back-sticking is not allowed in matched and how Jeff Queen still teaches it on both hands, trad+matched.

If trad grip is for left hand only then why do Carter Beauford, Thomas Lang+Billy Cobham all use a right handed trad grip on occasion?

Out of interest, do you play drum-set or marching?"

Aaron 02-12-2007 09:27 PM

^ specs updated. Soon i'll do pictures of my setups. I have a rock setup including the bigger crashes, a traditional jazz setup with the smaller/darker stuff and a fusion setup including some of the splashes as hats added into the jazz setup. All in all I have 4 different kit setups I'll use depending on content/audience/purpose.

Win A Rabbit 02-12-2007 10:17 PM

I've been trying to download the Everything Is Illuminated soundtrack for a while now. I don't imagine anyone here has it, do they?

Whoa, I just found one that isn't dead. Disregard this post.

I didn't really like the movie, but the soundtrack was great. I think I have a new love for soundtracks, and their cohesive-ness in most cases.

fishbulb 02-12-2007 10:21 PM

Nope, sorry.

Maggot Dream 02-12-2007 10:29 PM

Children of Men had a great soundtrack. Good movie, too.

Chippy569 02-12-2007 10:50 PM

what was that one about?

Maggot Dream 02-12-2007 11:01 PM
what was that one about?
It's set in the future, and for some reason, humanity has lost the ability to reproduce. They find a girl who is somehow pregnant, and the main character is trying to get her out of England (which is controlled by an authoritarian government) to a research project trying to figure out why humans can't reproduce.

It was the first movie I've seen with a King Crimson song and Pink Floyd reference in the same scene. The soundtrack was awesome.

_Wrathchild_ 02-12-2007 11:21 PM

Hooray I have reached 1000 rep. Yay pointless accomplishments.

And now I wanna rep someone but I have to spread some love first before I can rep them again because I rarely rep.
So who wants rep?

Futuro 02-12-2007 11:25 PM

Any of you guys have a myspace? I dont have a personal one but I made one a few weeks ago for mah band and I uploaded a song and a lil chuggah chuggah clip

http://www.myspace.com/aurumsolisband

I am so lame =( rofl

_Wrathchild_ 02-12-2007 11:27 PM

I do but it pretty much only has audio on it that I've posted here before.

But meh:
http://www.myspace.com/thisisnorehearsal

Someday soon I think I'm gonna get some harp audio up on there.

Futuro 02-12-2007 11:30 PM

Nice playing!

_Wrathchild_ 02-12-2007 11:34 PM

Thnx d00d

Those big band tunes are from over 6 months ago now I guess. Don't you hate it when you listen to recordings of songs you played, and you think to yourself "dammit I could play that song soo much better now". I think that all the time when I listen to those. Especially since we prepared those songs in a week.

And lol don't the horns suck on the second song

Futuro 02-12-2007 11:35 PM

Yeah one of em was really out of tune like wtf, but the drumming was solid

Chippy569 02-12-2007 11:43 PM

i'll take some of your spare rep wraith :)

that movie looked interesting. Maybe i'll go friday, no school.

Win A Rabbit 02-12-2007 11:44 PM

Tomorrow I'm going to learn Odalisque on guitar by The Decemberists. I've been telling myself I've been going to learn it, and I finally will.

I'll probably put it off again.

_Wrathchild_ 02-12-2007 11:46 PM

I already repped you Chippy :)

Omg Futuro's band is my myspace friend.
Even though I already said it before in that other thread, very nice stuff. The band sounds great.
More songs plz

Futuro 02-12-2007 11:48 PM

Yeah Im recording this stupidly heavy monotonous riff for our epic song. I had to borrow my friends 8 string guitar lawlz.

Im not sure how im gonna play it live....

I uploaded the rhythm guitar of that section, but drums/bass/vocals are still missing.

Chippy569 02-12-2007 11:50 PM

you gave me 23 rep points wraith! :D

futuro i know i have the link somewhere but do you have another to your stuff?

_Wrathchild_ 02-12-2007 11:52 PM

Sweet I give out more rep than I thought.

And yeah, didn't you used to have your own myspace Futuro?

Jeff 02-12-2007 11:55 PM

i could use a lil rep.

Futuro 02-12-2007 11:56 PM

http://www.myspace.com/aurumsolisband

Or you mean like me drumming? I dont have any audio of me drumming anymore since my harddrive crashed a few months ago
I have had a few joke band myspace pages.

Chippy569 02-12-2007 11:59 PM

i'm listening to that 8string tone test track.... how'd you do the ambient stuff?

btw it glitches at 00:29

Futuro 02-13-2007 12:07 AM

Ambient stuff is a vst instrument controlled by a lil keyboard.

And the track is only 29seconds =) Didnt want to give away the actual good sounding guitar part yet heehe.

_Wrathchild_ 02-13-2007 12:08 AM

Win a Rabbit I tried to rep you but I still can't even though the last time I repped you was months ago :upset:

Oh well, sleep time for me. I must be well prepared for this big music festival our school band is going to tomorrow and we're going to suck horribly because everyone but like 3 people sucks in our band and everyone will laugh at us. Hooray!

(*The Noonward Race*) 02-13-2007 12:27 AM

i have a week pass to the new music festival i went tonight it was awesome

_Wrathchild_ 02-13-2007 12:48 AM

Tonight both my harp and drum teachers were playing at the new music festival. I wish I could have seen :(
My drum teacher said his percussion ensemble was playing a bonham influenced piece. That would have been cool.

/actually goes to bed now

(*The Noonward Race*) 02-13-2007 12:49 AM

yeh i missed them

i saw your harp teacher then

i saw the harp and i was like that person from mx plays harp too
