We_Love_Lime 02-12-2007 07:21 AM

morning sunshine.
That should be a song.

Isn't the Mars Volta the coolest band ever?
I think so.

Sunshine 02-12-2007 07:27 AM

So you're going to say that every time you say 'morning, huh?

Ugh, the Mars Volta. They're pretty much just At The Drive In, who I didn't like either [one-armed scissor wtf].

Charlie Manson 02-12-2007 07:28 AM
Morning loves.
do boys with guitars ever get down on their knees and sing you a certain song by Jimmie Davis and Charles Mitchell?

Sunshine 02-12-2007 07:28 AM

They really, really don't.

Charlie Manson 02-12-2007 07:28 AM

aww thats so sad :-|
do boys with guitars ever get down on their knees and sing you a certain song by Jimmie Davis and Charles Mitchell?
They do for me. Because I'm purty.

Charlie Manson 02-12-2007 08:04 AM

i generally sing for girls who aren't pretty to make them feel okay about being who they are.

The Chemist 02-12-2007 08:12 AM

that is either the coolest thing ever or the dickest thing ever

Retarded Chipple 02-12-2007 08:38 AM

Hey guys, check out this comment I received on my vid.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=M45AsfBVc84

I answered him back...was what I said right?

trysthedrummer 02-12-2007 11:34 AM

thats pretty good

Pleaseme 02-12-2007 11:34 AM

Lol what an idiot. Shoulda humoured him and said 'oh sorry I didnt realise I will never use trad in my right hand again'.

Josiah 02-12-2007 11:37 AM
They really, really don't.
That's a bummer, every girl should have a guy sing em a song. At least an instrumental one anyway...

Retarded Chipple 02-12-2007 11:41 AM

So my reply was right?

I know its not the greatest playing ever but I thought the video information woulda made that obvious!

I hate to say this, but his attitude gives me the feeling he's a marching drummer or some kinda purist. For some reason, they always seem to think inside the box and are really arrogant about it. I could be wrong though...

EDIT: which one of you just commented on my vid? Thanks for sticking up for me whoever you are :)

+ rep for you (if you can prove its you somehow)

wesm9787 02-12-2007 11:50 AM

yea... if you're left handed you set up your drums left handed right? if you're left handed, you flip the stick sideways on your right hand. and actually i think i remember reading somewhere that way back in the revolutionary war days they used to do both hands like that. so if you go back to the roots of american drumming, they used both. but yea, you can use either hand, it's still traditional as long as it's just one hand. i don't know what you call it when you flip them sideways on both hands.

Jezen 02-12-2007 11:51 AM

I was gonna, but my internet started going slow. Odds are, the guy that was ignorantly critting you like that, is just plain ignorant.

Jezen 02-12-2007 11:52 AM
i don't know what you call it when you flip them sideways on both hands.
That's called a joke.

Or did you mean 3 way backsticking?

Josiah 02-12-2007 11:57 AM

Chipple -

You mean this comment -
"ok. First, traditionnal grip is for left hand ONLY. Second, no backsticking while playing matched grip, IT SUCKS! Thirs your traditionnal grip sicks dude work on basics before showing off ****. And who do you play with????"

Well the guy is obviouslly a moron and has NEVER, EVER marched on a drum line. Or even seen many cool drumming videos with stick tricks, backstickign and so forth.

Shoulda gave him the link to Jeff Queen's VicFirth.com lessons on backsticking! Haha

wesm9787 02-12-2007 12:00 PM
That's called a joke.

i don't know. i am not at all versed in marching grips or tricks or whatever. i mean when you have the stick sideways like you normally do with your left hand in traditional grip, but do that with both hands. i don't think that's an actual grip but like i said i know nothing about these things. i know you can play traditional grip the other way though. it's not a sin against the drumming gods to play left-handed.

Retarded Chipple 02-12-2007 12:00 PM

Yeah, thats the comment.

Haha, I was thinking of showing him Jeff Queen but then I thought how it'd make my already sloppy video look even worse

Josiah 02-12-2007 12:06 PM

Haha that's ok, it makes that kid look like an even bigger idiot. Wich is better then someone who is willing to learn, practices and confident enough to display their progress on the internet.

Your hands are getting there, and you are young. Don't worry about playing like Jeff now, but you can practice so you can play like him later. That's a promise.

Aww, thanks dude. That means alot, you wouldn't believe (or maybe you would?) Means alot coming from yourself too ;)

I was actually self taught and had been playing 2 years when I filmed it about 4-6 months ago! I'm now having lessons and have noticeably cleaned up my playing.

Young....I'm 18  I have a baby face....

But music is a life long pursuit and I guess I'm young considering most pros we all admire are like 30+

Josiah 02-12-2007 12:41 PM

Haha ya 18 is young, 23 is young..

Most the names you hear on here, well in there 40's or later, I think vinnie is in his mid 50's now, maybe even older.

Deffinetly takes a long time on Drums to get to that "really good" level.

the_pure_drummer 02-12-2007 12:49 PM

Hey mx. Dream theater ftw!

Sunshine 02-12-2007 12:51 PM
That's a bummer, every girl should have a guy sing em a song. At least an instrumental one anyway...
Hahahaha, you're silly.

Well, a guy did write a song for me once...it was really small and simple and cheesy, but I love it anyway ^-^

Stickman Sam 02-12-2007 12:51 PM

^^ True dat Joel. Did you know they'll be touring this year when they finish their new album?

And, The Police FTW! Who are also touring this year! They'd better come by the UK!

Nothing wrong with backsticking in matched grip, whoever posted that...

~~

the_pure_drummer 02-12-2007 12:53 PM

If dream theater come to the UK im going.

end off!

wesm9787 02-12-2007 12:54 PM

hey sunshine turns out we're both gay. haha. my ex-girlfriend went on a whole rant last night about how i'm gay because she called one of my friends a psychopath and i defended him (and she's never even met or talked to the guy, she just had these weird warped opinions about people based on like one thing she hears about them). so now i'm in love with him and i'm gay. because i argued with her. and she's a girl. and i took a guy's side over a girl's side. and the only way i could do that is if i was gay. apparently. i will never understand the minds of insane teenage girls.

Haha, WOW.

That's...pretty special.

I call my boyfriend gay 'cause he looks like an emo fag [except he listens to LoC, Tiger Army and Mad Sin and Rancid and stuff, wtf right?].

But for taking a guy's side?

Pretty special indeed.
awww see, it's the thought that counts.

Hahaha yeah...I really do believe in that though, the thought counting...he recorded it for me and everything...o(*^v^*)o

Ewww, Dave Matthews...you better be kidding haha =P

Josiah 02-12-2007 12:58 PM

How is a girl gay for liking a guy... wtf moron said that? That is called being HetroSexual, not HomoSexual.

Sunshine 02-12-2007 01:00 PM

Hahaha, I was playing off the joke, you know "gay means you like boys lesbian means you like girls."

That, and I truely am a gay man on the inside.

Josiah 02-12-2007 01:01 PM

Haha oh ok i see.. interesting.

I like girls. But acutally, while I do enjoy and appreciate the female body, and their company (sometimes). I only have eyes for one to love, haha and even her moods sometimes make me wonder what a girl is....

Sunshine 02-12-2007 01:17 PM

Hahaha.

See, I figure I'm an extremely gay man on the inside because I don't DO that sort of thing, with the mood swings and PMS and all of that.

And many things about girls truely gross me out, more than some guys I know.
