And that's why it's not nearly as clean. But that's not the point.
If you are going to listen to modern DM, don't bitch about the editing or production. It's par for the course. |
And that's why it's not nearly as clean. But that's not the point.
Precisely. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that death metal isn't SUPPOSED to be clean. |
Solution: Don't listen to Nile.
Couldn't have said it better myself. :thumb: |
But most bands today want a tighter, cleaner sound, and so do the fans. But then the fans turn around and bitch about the editing and production, so we as engineers can't fucking win.
So as I said, if you want to listen to modern metal, don't bitch about the production. Dargon: I completely agree, but sadly, most people don't think that way. |
i actually dont care what the drums sounds like in the mix, just that the drumming doesnt suck...
|

Definitely, a major reason Behemoth sucks is because they sound so clean. owayte |
Demigod and The Apostasy were awesome.
|
Haha, nice one.
Regardless, I enjoy the music... |
idk, i can't imagine hearing alot of behemoth's recent work with a less polished sound.
|
i actually dont care what the drums sounds like in the mix, just that the drumming doesnt suck...
That's me with just about everything. It takes a lot for me not to like a certain tone or sound. |
Demigod and The Apostasy were awesome.
i'm beginning to think that zos kia cultus is better than both of those, it's much more varied (good mix of crushing mid-paced songs and blistering fast ones), stronger vocals, much less mechanical approach to songwriting & dynamic, etc. All of their albums since Thelema slay though.
|
The vocals on Demigod are laughable, but are pretty badass at the same time. Vocals on Apostasy were awesome.
I haven't heard ZKC though. Those two, Satanica and Grom are the ones I have. Grom sucks. |
It's funny how people's opinion on here of a band varies from month to month. Two months ago, absolutely everyone hated Behemoth and everything about them with a passion. Now all of a sudden they have awesome songs or are at least tolerable.
Fucking poseurs. |
People went through an At the Gates hate-fest also.
|
That was the funniest one of them all.
|
The Apostasy is ruined by boring structure and boring drumming. Demigod is ruined by boring everything and hilarious vocals.
Zos Kia is alright.
People went through an At the Gates hate-fest also.
IF it makes you feel better, I still think SOTS has like 6 minutes of actual non-suck on it. |
That's me with just about everything. It takes a lot for me not to like a certain tone or sound.
Me too. The only drum sound I can say I've ever hated is the kickdrum on Into Eternity's Scattering Of Ashes. |
Me too.
The only drum sound I can say I've ever hated is the kickdrum on Into Eternity's Scattering Of Ashes.
And that's only because it's a digital kick drum, sampled in from actual kick hits. It was bound to sound terrible. |
****ing poseurs
I know, we all need to lose 100 pounds, grow weird nappy dread-things, and wear eyeliner. Then we'll be real metal. |
And that's only because it's a digital kick drum, sampled in from actual kick hits. It was bound to sound terrible.
Why would they program the kick drum, and not the rest? |
IF it makes you feel better, I still think SOTS has like 6 minutes of actual non-suck on it.
I feel better after hearing that for the tenth time thanks. |
Why would they program the kick drum, and not the rest?
Don't say program, that implies it wasn't actually played. I'm not really sure why they did that to be honest, Jim only told me that it was only the kick drum and not why it was only the kick. |
Don't say program, that implies it wasn't actually played.
I'm not really sure why they did that to be honest, Jim only told me that it was only the kick drum and not why it was only the kick.
Oh I see. I've heard actual programmed drums that sound better though. Much better actually. |
Don't say program, that implies it wasn't actually played.
Oh I see.
I've heard actual programmed drums that sound better though. Much better actually.
Programmed drums can still use the tone the drums on TSOA. Programming just implies that the beats and hits were programmed as opposed to actually played. The drums on TSOA are played by Jim, but ever kick hit was sent through a machine to produce the atrocious sound you hear on the album. If you watch the video on the CD, you can hear the actual sound of the kicks. |
Why are we talking about Into Eternity in here?
|
Surely they didn't like the tone.
Who knows though. EDIT: Why can't we? They're prog death. |
It's funny how people's opinion on here of a band varies from month to month. Two months ago, absolutely everyone hated Behemoth and everything about them with a passion. Now all of a sudden they have awesome songs or are at least tolerable.
Fucking poseurs.
youre retarded, everyone thats discussing behemoth being good here has never talked bad about them. Even during discussions about how much they suck, I've mentioned them as being among my favorite bands. Stop being such a wigger. |
Surely they didn't like the tone.
Who knows though.
And it was produced by Andy Sneap, who usually gets all the best sounds. |
EDIT: Why can't we? They're prog death.
Much much more prog, not a whole lotta death. Stu Block has some decent growls on the new album though. |

by "the dude" do you mean one of the old singers? |
by "the dude" do you mean one of the old singers?
Yea, Dean Sternberg. I'd've said that earlier but like I said, who cares? |
Why are we talking about Into Eternity in here?
