I would feel sick to my stomach of that happened to me.

Me to. I WILL not miss them when (if..) they come here in Feb...

I'm so freaking dissapointed.... like... the entirety of my plans are ruined :upset:, I was so excited, I mean..... Opeth AND Into Eternity in one night, like quite possibly my two favorite bands ever (aside from In Flames).

Deth 10-30-2005 10:24 PM

I know how you feel...happened to me a few months ago with NIN. Of course, it was far less ironic than your circumstances, but I can relate. They'll be back around though :).

i am the robots 10-30-2005 10:25 PM

Yes, it is ironic that my parents told me I could go, but failed to allow me to use the credit card before they left for the weekend.

Deth 10-30-2005 10:36 PM

Back in Febuary. Remember that.

ElectricalStorm 10-30-2005 11:12 PM

Seriously they'll be back in February--well at least Opeth will. Also keep in mind that supporting bands on this tour aren't getting much playing time (even Nevermore's set was pretty short) so you probably wouldn't be satisfied with the length of Into Eternity's set.

Also I'll mention this again; who in this thread wants to take a deeper and more focused look at the lyrics to My Arms Your Hearse? I'm sure everyone understands the gist of the concept but may I remind everyone that the true story lies is in the nuances of the lyrics--those not readily apparent.

I know Creeping Deth is ready to beast:naughty:

BlindWriting 10-30-2005 11:18 PM

No one at home is awake right now, so I have to say:

1. The Drapery Falls contains the most evil riff on BWP.
2. I listen to Demon of the Fall about every day.
3. There isn't a single second of Ghost Reveries that isn't incredibly goddamn awesome.
4. At around 5:25, the Grand Conjuration has an amazing scream.
5. The chorus to Isolation Years is heartbreakingly beautiful. If only the song weren't so short.

Opeth rules. To me, personally, they're the culmination of my sort of "musical life", the embodiment of everything that I have been looking for the moment I started listening to music.

Hells Bells 10-31-2005 12:05 AM

Ghost Reveries rocks :thumb:

That scream is awesome, I love how it's it's so drawn out and sounds like it's being carried by the wind, like it's being done by an evil spirit.
Yes, it is ironic that my parents told me I could go, but failed to allow me to use the credit card before they left for the weekend.
Oh, that's terrible...I got my ticket like months in advance, even though my show didn't even sell out in advance (just Opeth+Pelican+Fireball, though....probably contributed). If it's not too late, you could try buying from a scalper..?

I don't think Opeth ever sold out.
like in a venue, not music wise :p although I'm not a big fan of Ghost Reveries

To me, Porcupine Tree is a lot like that, although to be fair, so are Dylan and the Beatles and I've literally been listening to them since birth.

Opeth have sold out venues, look at the gig list on their site.

They're playing Philly tonight and I can't go...being at college 5 hours away :(
No one at home is awake right now, so I have to say:
I dunno....the one in Blackwater Park right after the extended acoustic section is pretty feking

2. I listen to Demon of the Fall about every day.
Wow....well, I listen to all of music in "albums" rather than "songs," so listening to MAYH every day would be pretty hardcore. It's a sweet tune for sure, though.
3. There isn't a single second of Ghost Reveries that isn't incredibly goddamn awesome.
Finally, SOMEBODY who isn't ranting against the album! I agree.
That, it does.
I like the 5/4 intro, too.

I listen to anywhere between 1-5 Opeth albums every day :thumb:
I hear Demon of the Fall a lot, but not every day. I don't usually listen to it out of context, and MAYH is a little too depressing to hear on a daily basis. Its such an awesome song and album though

BlindWriting 10-31-2005 05:09 PM

Demon of the Fall is the only MAYH song I have, so I'm looking to make that the next Opeth album I buy.

yeah you better get on that soon. :thumb: great album
what other opeth albums do you not have?

Give me your e-mail, and I'll send it to you (YSI).

Thanks very much for the offer, but I'm trying to avoid downloading. And also when it comes to Opeth I'd rather own the whole package.

Thanks again, though.

I understand, I did the same thing. :) It's worth the package for the booklet alone is worth $18.

HARDCORE! I like to have all the albums of bands I love.

Shadows 10-31-2005 10:03 PM

I desperately need to buy new Opeth. :( I've only paid for two of their albums, and I've decided to buy three others. I just have to get the money and work them amidst my list of other CDs to buy.

Deth 10-31-2005 10:09 PM

I own all 8 of their albums .

I even have all the covers in a frame in my room, it looks really cool. Of course, now I can't get the lyrics, but it's worth it.

epihasi 10-31-2005 10:19 PM

I only own Still life, because I live in China. I go to Europe once a year, so I can buy Opeth cds then. But Ive only been listening to Opeth for 6 months, therefore I have one album.
And Akerfeldts screams overall are incredibler, but the best one is in April Ethereal at around 6.45 minutes!

Killtacular 10-31-2005 10:25 PM

All I actually own is Blackwater Park, which was the first one I'd heard and bought thanks to impulse off of eBay for 6 dollars.

Darkness 10-31-2005 10:27 PM

I only own Blackwater Park, Deliverance, and Damnation. The rest are downloaded. :upset: I just can't find them anywhere... rumor has it that an HMV at West Edmonton Mall sells Morningrise, though... I'll have to stop by sometime..

Deth 10-31-2005 10:30 PM

Am I the only one here who bought them all besides Flynn? You guys make me feel even more hardcore.

Killtacular 10-31-2005 10:33 PM

I would, but I'm cheap as hell.

dUSK 10-31-2005 10:34 PM
Am I the only one here who bought them all besides Flynn? You guys make me feel even more hardcore.
I have all except MA,YH which I'm yet to hear anything other than Demon of the Fall from.

Deth 10-31-2005 10:37 PM

Well, you need to get it and then you can join the hallowed ranks of the Opeth 1337.

dUSK 10-31-2005 10:39 PM

I know. The heart says yes, but the wallet says no.

I nearly bought this 'Special Edition' version that came in a little circular silver case, but it was $45. :upset:

Killtacular 10-31-2005 10:39 PM

I wanna be a part of the ( )peth 1337.

I was the one who originally asked you for a MAYH analysis because your "Deliverance" analysis was so good. I have been chomping at the bit (so to speak) for it since I asked. Please, post the April Ethereal analyisis!

On a side not, 7 days to OPETH!!!! (Into Eternity is cool; Nevermore is...well: I hope for a good show :))

dUSK 11-01-2005 03:11 AM

This is Opeth's second tour with Nevermore right?

PeEpHoLe_10 11-01-2005 03:14 AM

Does anyone know if Opeth have plans to come to Australia anytime soon?

I'm yet to hear anything, but they better. And then they had better do another in-store so I can shake Mikeal's hand.

PeEpHoLe_10 11-01-2005 03:19 AM

I completley agree.
