I also like Nothing Ever Dies, and March of Mephisto is a killer opener.

Mother 12-13-2006 01:44 PM

Manigance - L'ombre Et La Lumière Hands down has one of the best Intros ever.

Shattered_Future 12-13-2006 03:22 PM

I personally love The Black Halo the most. That's probably one of the best American power metal (hell, power metal) releases period ever.

New Therion is covered in a heaping helping of ownagesauce. I love the more almost progish feel to it.

pate 12-13-2006 07:55 PM

Khan is amazing.

As is new Therion.

shadow_stalker 12-19-2006 11:35 AM

So... i got Tarot's 'to live again' album and it owns almost all live albums ever released (except for Maiden's rock in rio). So, what tarot album you think i should get next (btw i already have suffer our pleasure)

Stormrider 12-19-2006 12:59 PM

I only have their new one, Crows Fly Black, which is very good.

I'de have to reget Suffer our Pleasures.

Shattered_Future 12-19-2006 04:06 PM

Crows Fly Black is a ridiculously badass album. Sadly, I don't have anything else by the band, save a couple of tracks from Stigmata.

Oh, and I have Suffer Our Pleasures. Which is ALSO a ridiculously badass album.

ArcLite 12-19-2006 04:15 PM

I've been meaning to check Tarot out for wuite awhile, but I can't ever seem to find any of their stuff on Soulseek.

Stormrider 12-19-2006 04:55 PM

Yeah, I was really impressed by the album. Unlike when I first listened to Suffer Our Pleasures :-/

Maybe your badass glands have finally started releasing badass detectors into your bloodstream.

Uh, wow. It's so good. I could listen to The Haunting for days. Amazing, amazing album.

Or the new album > Suffer Our Pleasures :p

ATTN: Don't take this seriously, I don't remember anything off of SoP except the chorus to the I Rule.

sonictheplumber 12-20-2006 01:00 PM

What exactly makes a band Power Metal? All I know is that Dio made it.

Yeah, Kamelot is probably the best American metal band around today.

Stereotypes:

High vocals
Constant double bass
Two types of songs: Metal and ballad
Bass player plays one note for the whole song
Fantasy-based lyrics
German
Gay

All of these are frequently true, except the last one.

Fix'd.

You forgot that it's an advantage if they are German. :D

pate 12-20-2006 05:23 PM

Oh, you're right.

Edited :)

Name me an American metal band that's better that ISN'T Iced Earth.
Name me an American metal band that's better that ISN'T Iced Earth.
Aw, you had to put a restriction on it

Well, there's Jag Panzer, Solitude Aeturnus, Testament, Agalloch and Symphony X, but other than those, yes.

Shattered_Future 12-20-2006 07:15 PM

See, I knew your rampant Iced Earth fanboyism would get in the way...

Ok, Kamelot is the best American power metal band around (if you don't consider Symphony X power metal).

pate 12-20-2006 07:27 PM

Well...Jag Panzer is power metal. But Kamelot is the best American European-style power metal band.

Deth 12-20-2006 07:34 PM

I've never really enjoyed Jag Panzer. I found them terribly mediocre.

Tyler 12-20-2006 07:36 PM
I've never really enjoyed Jag Panzer. I found them terribly mediocre.
Ditto

pate 12-20-2006 10:59 PM

I absolutely love them. King at a Price is my favorite song OAT.

Apocalyptic Raids 12-20-2006 11:19 PM

Ample Destruction owns you all >:[
See, I knew your rampant Iced Earth fanboyism would get in the way...
You should just be happy I didn't get in the way. :p

And I had a phase where I listened to Ample Destruction a lot. But I havn't in a while. Decent album...about as far as it goes.

pate 12-21-2006 11:04 AM

I don't even like AD and I'm a JP fanboy.

Shattered_Future 12-21-2006 04:01 PM

I never liked Jag Panzer that much, even though Broderick has enormous chops.

Stormrider 12-21-2006 07:25 PM

True.^ Though he's not the guitarist in AD :p

Anyone else just love the chorus to Tarot's Messenger of Gods ?

pate 12-21-2006 07:27 PM

He does, and Harry has a killer voice.

HahahitnRun 12-22-2006 11:51 PM

While Jag Panzer has a bunch of kick *** songs, I've always felt that they could benefit a lot from 1 or 2 more speedier songs per album to add more diversity. Otherwise the highlights are definetly Harry's Vocals and Chris' leads.

Apocalyptic Raids 12-22-2006 11:53 PM
I don't even like AD and I'm a JP fanboy.
What Jag Panzer album is best? (Other than Ample Destruction of course ;))

pate 12-22-2006 11:54 PM

IMO it's (in order) Thane to the Throne, Casting the Stones, The Age of Mastery, and The Fourth Judgement next.

HahahitnRun: Harry is great

Apocalyptic Raids 12-23-2006 12:46 AM

Okay cool. Tyler and I were trying to figure it out yesterday but the Metal-Archives reviews don't really give you a good idea

Shattered_Future 12-23-2006 08:50 PM
True.^ Though he's not the guitarist in AD :p

I think that's the worst song on the album. It seems horribly generic...

Mother 12-24-2006 07:26 AM

I just got burning point - Bring down the enemy .. I haven't heard the whole thing yet but it sounds promising.

Iron Bars 12-28-2006 05:13 AM

I got tickets to see Therion with Sabaton and Grave Digger as support acts. To bad it's still a month and a half before it starts.

You're a douchebag.

I picked up One Cold Winter's Night. Great DVD...production is excellent, and the setlist is excellent too.

I also picked up Sentenced's giant DVD pack thingy of their last show ever, which I still have to check out.

Deth 12-28-2006 11:24 AM

I wanted to get that live Kamelot CD but it's pretty expensive around here.

Point being, I need more Kamelot.
