orly

then how did anyone get here in the first place. i was linked by jumpthe****up ages ago and subscribed it, and the linking must eventually go back to the first linker who wasn't linked by anybody else.

big80smullet 02-03-2009 10:45 PM

originally you could get to it through the classifieds forum which can still be accessed through this thread. Its technically still on the forums but there is no link to get to it. They "deleted" the classifieds section but left a few threads alive.

rasputin 02-03-2009 10:50 PM

ah ok. light has been shed. i guess i should hang here more often, the sputnikmusic community thread is okay but there isn't often people there, this thread is more suited to my time for obvious reasons.

Aaron 02-03-2009 10:53 PM

The Classifieds exists, it's just not accessable by the main page. It's like having a huge house and no front door.

use a metronome?

gaslight 02-04-2009 01:38 AM

My band was artist of the week on FBi a while ago, can't say I've ever listened to the station though.

If you aren't getting any better you need to practise new things and stretch yourself, work on any weaknesses, set clearly defined goals etc.

I find just sitting and playing for hours is a good way to get better too.

RunAmokRampant 02-04-2009 01:54 AM

I find that if I am getting frustrated with a passage in a piece of music, I just stop playing and come back to it later and I usually improve vastly compared to last time. Sometimes I even nail it perfectly first try.

gaslight 02-04-2009 01:57 AM

I got a sick jazz album today. It's excellent to relax to.

Yeah, if you're stuck on something, play it slower and slower until you play it at the speed where you nail it the first attempt. Then practise in increasing increments of speed until you have it correct. For bonus fun try doing it faster than the real tempo. That's a good, reliable methodical approach to learning.

Obviously wouldn't do it every time though, it's more for very challenging pieces.

Being able to play something slower than written but in perfect time is far better than being able to play something in bursts of unsteady time.

big80smullet 02-04-2009 01:59 AM

Its not that i stuck on anything specific i just have no direction with my music and no real motivation to improve. I need to get some lessons or get in a band or something

gaslight 02-04-2009 02:01 AM

Yeah improvement without motivation is pretty hard to come by.

Alf™ 02-04-2009 02:30 AM

horseypie 02-04-2009 02:33 AM

Same.

I'm pretty stoked, I just realised I'll easily be able to offer traypacks (including double CD traypacks) as part of my CD printing business. Good times.
