*namedrops In The Rectory Of The Bizarre Reverend yet again*

Only one I have by them that I liked so far, but it's absolutely fantastic.

Eliminator 12-06-2007 05:41 PM

that's the one i've heard

anyway i am going to namedrop Warning! yay namderprrOo!

because Watching from a Distance is ****ing awesome. The Strength to Dream is great too but seriously

excellent clean vokillz

pate 12-06-2007 05:43 PM
I think everything Cathedral did after Forest of Equilibrium is much better.
I felt that way for a long time, but I like FoE as much as TCB and TEM.

And yes, Warning owns.

Kage 12-06-2007 06:00 PM

Reverend Bizarre is great. They're the only trad. doom band I listen to. Candlemass is alright in small doses but after a while I start thinking, "am I really still listening to this?"

Eliminator 12-06-2007 06:17 PM

the production on Nightfall sort of kills the heaviness on some of the songs

Tyler 12-06-2007 06:18 PM

I never got into Watching from a Distance idono

pate 12-06-2007 06:30 PM

Kage have you heard Solitude Aeturnus? Although I'd be willing to bet that you'd hate them.

rasputin 12-06-2007 06:47 PM

Solitude Aeturnus are good, good, gooooood. Well the one album I've listened too, I haven't heard anything else yet :( But that shall change!

pate 12-06-2007 06:52 PM

Which album?

Tyler 12-06-2007 06:53 PM

I really don't like Rob Lowe for some reason, but I still really really really like their cover of Heaven and Hell.

pate 12-06-2007 07:21 PM

Rob Lowe is my favorite singer by far, but I don't think their HaH cover is that great. Hah

This is kind of vague i know but one song off Ancient Dreams is a complete rip off of another on Nightfall. I'll post it when i figure it out but the song on AD is a slowed down version of the same riffs/structure on Nightfall.

@pate
yeah i knew most of that stuff, i heard SV and didn't really like them that much tbh. But i've never heard Trouble, and Solitude Aeturnus have been on my "wishlist" for a while. i didn't know they were a doom metal band though.

what about it specifically? i like the production...

NemesisDivina 12-06-2007 09:51 PM

I have a chance to pick up Skepticism- Stormcrowfleet and I vaguely remember some people talking about it itt. How is it?

rattlehead42147 12-06-2007 09:53 PM

i'm really excited now about getting some doom/stoner stuff in the next few weeks now. my collection is sorely lacking :(

rasputin 12-07-2007 12:18 AM
Which album?
That'd be their debut, Into the Depths of Sorrow. If you haven't already, definitely check it out.

Without a doubt the best album released this year for me.

NP: Warning - Faces

Jondur 12-07-2007 04:19 AM

The best album released for a good 8 or 9 years.

I've had it for a year now and still listen to it every day.

Iron Bars 12-07-2007 05:03 AM

I don't listen to it every day but more than once a week this year for certain.

Absolutely I have it. SA are probably my favorite band.

It's ****ing great and an essential release if you like funeral doom. :)

Thats my second favorite after Supernatural Birth Machine.

pate 12-07-2007 02:10 PM

It's my fourth favorite, after FoE, TEM, and TCB.
cathedral's album covers are lol
Their album covers are pwn.

This. It's the only Funeral doom I've really liked so far haha. I've heard like 3 releases, though.

Eliminator 12-07-2007 03:15 PM

yeah Skepticism are really good

if you like that album you should get some Esoteric

the2stranger 12-08-2007 08:54 AM
This. It's the only Funeral doom I've really liked so far haha. I've heard like 3 releases, though.
Li sten to what Elim says.

Esoteric is indeed good.
I recommend Subconcious Dissolution Into The Continuum as starters. :p

Recieved Radiance Of Shadows and Truth Becomes Death by Nadja today.

Stormrider 12-08-2007 09:10 AM

Alright, thanks. I'll check it out :)

Iron Bars 12-08-2007 09:21 AM

I was listening to Radiance of Shadows. Best thing I've heard of Nadja so far.

the2stranger 12-08-2007 09:42 AM

No problemo Jammie. :)

Radiance Of Shadows is pretty damn good indeed.
I'm going to write a review about it this week.
