Travel cross town on a bus to learn a chord... that was the way to do it. :D My kid's learning guitar now and only seems interested in the 'power chords.' I grabbed my Ric 320 (same as Lennon's 325 in size and spec) the other day and went through a whole song using only A chords. A, Am, A7, A6, Asus2 etc, etc.... Blew his mind. Later on I caught him boning up on the chord chart. Good for him, I thought.

bcf717 01-06-2006 09:34 PM

Orbison's voice was rated in the high E range. He could have been an opera singer.....

Leper 01-07-2006 02:31 AM

I wish I was better at guitar. Every time I try to learn chords I lose interest, and forget much of what I learned very soon after.:(

clown_phobia 01-07-2006 02:32 AM

Well I think the best way to keep interest in guitar etc is to play songs you like

That'd be great, except most songs require knowledge of chords, so I try to learn the chords and end up getting frustrated quickly.

blue3 01-07-2006 03:04 AM

Practice more I guess. How long have you been playing?

I'm Charming 01-07-2006 03:12 AM

When I was first learning on guitar , I tried Here Comes the Sun...

I got bored of it.... and went straight for metal though...

I should learn it some time though...

JohnXDoesn't 01-07-2006 03:14 AM

I just want to chime in and say I really love this band. I don't have all there records or anything, but with these guys it really doesn't seem like I have to. They just always seem like they are all around, and at one point or another I have had most of there stuff in one way or the next. I mean, how can you not know the Beatles?

These days I have The "Red" and "Blue" albums, Rubber Soul, and Live At the BBC. I really don't know what to say about them. Just where does one start?

Great, great band...

Leper 01-07-2006 03:23 AM

I've been playing off and on for about 3 years now.

Well said JohnXDoe. However I must say this. You don't know the Beatles until you get Revolver.

I want to learn that song, but I need a capo.

Does anyone else think that the first half of Abbey Road is much, much stronger than the second half? I've never listened to it all the way through (even though I've only had it for a few days) because the first 7-8 songs are so much nore listenable that the remainder. Can anyone reccomend some of their better tracks from that half?

JonG 01-07-2006 04:21 PM

Yeah, I think that also.

I have a capo, I like to play Here Comes The Sun.

Last night I learned I Feel Fine. Great riff.

Damian 01-07-2006 04:31 PM

The Beatles are one of the most overrated bands ever. Yesterday is okay, but their style sucks/have sucked.

If you want anyone to ever give you any respect, you had better not express your shitty opinions in that way. Give some sustance to back that statement up.

By the way, you're wrong.

Well since most people who don't listen to classic rock, (and that number is becoming a minority) I've knowticed, feel the same way, I wouldn't call them overrated anymore.

That was the 1st song I learned how to play.

NP:Across The Universe (Let It Be is currently my favorite album)

Naked or the original version?

pigonthewing82 01-07-2006 04:51 PM

Is the difference between Let it Be and Let it Be Naked big enough for me to pick it up if I already have Let it Be.

MidnightRider 01-07-2006 04:54 PM
Naked or the original version?
The original version. I don't have Naked.

The End, thats a good track also mean mr mustard makes me laugh ( its good for comic value ) its a good album and you can't really appriecate (sp?) the first half without the second.

Heh heh...I had a capo and I lost it, and I really wanted it for playing Here Comes The Sun. Finally I just went out and bought one, and another crappier one for backup (I lose things a lot). It's such a fun song to play.

I'm listening to Revolver right now. Good Day Sunshine. I'm kinda in the mood to listen to Sgt. Peppers right now though...maybe I'll do that after. Do any of you have any Beatles albums on vinyl? I wish I had more, I've got Help!, Sgt. Peppers, and Abbey Road. I think that's it. It'd be awesome to have all of them.

I like Let It Be Naked more than Let It Be.

Ha I was just watching the Simpsons episode where Homer becomes a hippie and during the credits they play some trippy music and at the end Homer says "I buried Flanders".

The Simpsons have awsome Beatles references, my favorite is when Paul McCartney is on it and Lisa says "yeah thats why I ran away from home" and Paul says "what shes leaving home"

The whole B-Sharps episode is a parody of the beatles. I love that episode :D

bcf717 01-07-2006 07:36 PM

Hmmm.. trying to figure if Jacaranda is pro or anti Beatles. At any rate, if he's not a fan it's rather ironic that his handle is the name of one of the clubs (like the Cavern) the Beatles used to play at in Liverpool before they made it big.
