I hate NFG's newer stuff (not really hate but I'm not a fan) but Nothing Gold Can Stay is pretty good.

Current favorite PP Bands: Spitalfield and Scary Kids Scaring Kids.

I'm not sure if I've heard later or newer stuff...if I get into Pop-Punk mode again though Ill look into them. I'm currently uber digging Latin music though.

Nice, SKSK is awesome. Local band  I played them on the radio on Sunday. Coolest guys too, all real chill and great to talk to.

Justang: NFG's vocalist isn't that high, but it is distinct still I think, from what I've heard.

EDIT: No Coheed? Why not? ooc.

bottlerocket 02-07-2006 10:24 PM

Eh, I find Coheed to be really boring and I can't get into their stuff at all. I dunno...I'm weird. :p

SKSK is pretty sweet...I'd love to meet them.

SKSK is pretty good. I tend to like most music. I was actually not hating some country that was on the radio this morning. I was like "Oh noes, what is wrong with me?"

I love Coheed. Welcome Home has got to be one of the most fun songs to play.
Jaredddddd what did you do now? :(
I made a thread in the Pit about having attained a postcount of 666.
You're one poster I'd like to talk to more...a lot of "regular pit users" are written off as morons, trollers, spammers, etc., but I was with MX and Chad during the compromise thingie and I'd like to get to know you guys. I think there needs to be a lot more mod/user communication in all aspects of the forum but mainly the Pit.
I don't think it's so much a lack of communication as it is just poor modding. Moderators have this excuse where they write off their errors as, "Every mod has their own style. Deal with it." The staff also likes to throw around the phrase, "You don't have rights. This is a privately owned message board and we're in charge." Half the staff has no sense of people skills. I think a major root of the moderation issue is also the fact that most of the staff are people who lack a real social life outside of the internet and thus take out their pent up aggressions in the way they mod. I could be off the mark here, but judging by some of the staff members we have, I don't think I am.

Then there's the other end of the spectrum where you have the party guy mods like Travis who don't take their job on here seriously at all and have a habit of pushing all the wrong buttons at all the wrong times and finally there are the moderators like zero who may be cool to chat with off the boards but treat their position like a joke on here and, again, push all the wrong buttons at all the wrong times.

Of course you also have the moderators who take their job too seriously, such as Ken, who feel that because they can press the ban button they're the next internet Jesus.

This is a natural variation in human personality, however it's completely unprofessional and given that this is indeed a privately owned message board, those who are in charge of maintaining it's sense of order and composure should perform their duties in a much more business-like manner, taking heed to appeal to the desires of those they so easily pass judgement on.

The moral of the story? Jeremy needs to pay better attention to who he puts in the moderator user group.
So...stay and chat a bit, eh?
Yeah, ok.

Yeah, the keyboardist (Pooyang?) is the most chill of all, seriously one of the coolest guys I've ever met period. Being a local band they chill after the shows a lot so I've met them a few times :D

Haha, I've heard good things about Murder By Death, I should check them out some time. I listen to albums as a whole so my NP are few and far between :-\

That's what I was listening to I think. It was one of those big country stations...It was a woman singing, so it wasn't one of those gay sounding guys' voice type vocals. I didn't mind it though. :(

I don't get how Coheed is boring either...

Welcome back Jared.

bottlerocket 02-07-2006 10:34 PM

Jared: I can definitely see what you mean. I mean, yeah, mods do have different styles and I don't necessarily agree with some mods (not mentioning any names for obvious reasons) but I'm still a n00b mod (only about 4 months now...6 tops) so my opinion in there isn't much yet but I'm trying. I'm one of those guys who hates banning people and would much rather people make sure they know WHY they were wrong rather than just "You were wrong, deal with it, retard."

I think you have to be able to joke around with the users, be a user yourself, but rise and step up when there's an issue, and that's what I try to do. I try to be as "userlike" as possible and only use my mod powers when something happens. Hell, I even hate modding in other forums. I only do it if its necessary (pr0n, mass spam, advertising, a bass forum member does something dumb in another forum, etc.)

Eh, I dunno...no one's told me what kind of mod I am yet. :p

Vince: Yeah, they look like they're fun. Their keyboardist is pretty nifty, too.

That's why some keyboardists are funny...they don't play much and just run around on stage punching people. It's great.

Jared: Heh, well, thanks a lot, but I still think some mods are far better than me; Wintermute, for instance, and Jom, allofmeoliveme, and Bartender, too, as well as a few others. Some I really don't care for. Some are flat out mean and pushy while I just think others are a bit out of touch with users, but eh, hopefully we'll hammer it all out. :smash:

I think if users in the Pit relax a wee bit and the mods sort of lighten up things will go a lot smoother, but it all starts with the mods since we're supposed to be the examples for users to follow.

The best thing is when you're talking to a user and they say, "Holy crap, I always forget you're a mod." It lets me know I'm doing OK. :p

The other best thing was when Chad had his little spampages that he'd post all kinds of spam and we'd clean it up post haste...lots of users in the bass forum weren't even aware who Chad was.

Exactly hahaha. Too bad I suck at keys and stage presence. GOod thing I'm a drummer O:-)

All of those guys are awesome too. Except Spence, because I'm obliged to say bad things about him, out of love. I don't talk to Wintermute much. But he's cool when I have talked to him.

DJ Ducksauce 02-07-2006 10:47 PM

I don't think of you, Spence, Joel, or Jom as a mod really. You guys are more like users than the others. I don't really know the others too well though.

Chad screwed up the forums pretty bad before getting his account back though.

I only knew who he was because people were talking about it in here and the pit.

bottlerocket 02-07-2006 10:49 PM

Wintermute and I have talked since 2003 when we both joined (same month/year) and he's one of the most intelligent people I've ever talked to on here. He's also, in my opinion, the best mod. He's temperate and handles almost every situation 100% effectively. Definitely one of my good friends on here. I'm #2 in his AIM log for "people he talks to most." Take that, Tryxx! :p

/swells with pride again

Spence is also a really cool guy. I just started talking to him after I was modded but he's really really cool. I hope he doesn't think I'm a weirdo. I get the feeling he hates me. :p

My stage presence is pretty crazy, depending on what I'm doing. When I'm playing bass, I throw my bass all over the place, jump around, and go absolutely crazy. When I'm screaming, I go even crazier. I'm a mess. :)

-Gav

Revolt! 02-07-2006 10:52 PM

I actually respect what Chad did and I know I'm going to get some adverse responses for saying that.

While I'm not denying he acted childish and immature, he was treated unjustly and proved that the little man in a conflict can always come out on top. Of course, there will be people who say he didn't come out on top and he never could have won, but to be honest, he won as soon as he started turning on the heat. There was really nothing anyone could do to stop him from making his point.

That doesn't make what he did right, but what he did wasn't wrong either. If that makes any sense.

He is intelligent the first time we talked over IM it was taking a Politics debate off the boards and onto AIM, because he wanted to discuss it in more detail. It was a real great talk :) I remember being impressed he was younger than me and handling my discussion as well as he did.

Spence hates everyone, don't worry.

omg scenester :p

Jared: My biggest problem with Chad is his collateral damage with all the users who lost their accounts from it. It wasn't just him versus the mods. It's a little lame to hurt people who didn't do anything against you.

bottlerocket 02-07-2006 10:57 PM

I think Chad's ways of reaching justice were really childish myself and they were a big pain in my behind.

Like I said: Because I was up all night following him once, I couldn't do a paper and it dropped a whole letter grade for being late. :p

I really think sitting down and dialogue between users and mods is the best action. I think what Chad did was just proof that annoyance will get you what you want but I'll be an egotistical **** and say my discussion in that thread had a lot to do with MX's willingness to accept Chad back as well as Chad's acceptance of the terms. :p

I'm really laid back but when it comes to a user posting nonstop gore and shock pictures over the site, I couldn't let it slide.

I made a committment the minute I said, "Sure." I actually didn't want to be a mod a while back. I was somewhat offered the position. It opened and Wintermute asked if I'd be interested but I declined. Later, though, after about 2 other mods, I said I'd try it out. Since then, I've really liked being a mod. I've explored some other forums and made some cool friends, especially you guys.

Hopefully I'll have a large impact on the forums and help end mod/user tension in some areas. In some forums like this, A&I, guitar, etc. it's great, but in places like the pit and hardcore/emo, there's some work that needs to be done. :p

Oh well...I just hope users know if they ever need help I'm always there.
